I think i need to connect a noise gate pedal when recording electric guitar from it , like from the rec out port at the back , I need to connect it to a noise gate pedla using and aux and a quarter inch cable . I'm getting a lot of noise when recording music .😂
Highly disagree. It has been my go to bedroom amp for a year, and it is a metal beast. Honestly one of the most fun and versatile amps I've ever had. IMO it kills the Katana series respectfully.
Hey Brandon, iam seriously thinking about this amp. I mostly play metal ie Pantera style stuff, also classic rock/hard rock/bluesy stuff and run a metal core and overdrive pedal usually,do you have any experience with similar pedals on this amp? Currently playing though a boss katana mini but that will be my travel amp I think. I do have an Orange 35R aswell but that's a bit bulky for where I usually play ...so that's the shed amp haha Was thinking a Peavey Rage too but they seem to have quite a few pretty ordinary reviews.
@@accentontheoff There were initially also Cube GX models with 20, 40 and 80 watts. But they started to phase out the whole GX line, replacing it with the Boss Katana series. At least the 10GX is still not being discontinued in 2024, though.
I used this Amp for church and it is surprisingly very loud, it can play a whole indoor basketball court against big speakers. when i first used this i was shock by the distortion, it sounded amazing
Not bad at all for what it is. My first amp was the little Fender Frontman 15G and the very first thing I did was swap out the speaker for Celestion 8/15. It made a huge difference and it bought me at least three or four weeks of extra use out of that little amp before I got myself a KTN 100.
Just bought one on the weekend, the red Roland “ Micro Cube”, awesome 6 pounds, had one 7-8 years ago & regretted selling it. Had to get another...for the convenience, practice & the crystal clear sound. I bought it used, bonus or rather no bonus, the Roland came with the black mini Strat ( some kid went off to university & mom sold his STUFF). Glad I didn’t buy a new mini Strat, may do some mods to that one if I want to use, ..sharp frets.
my first and only amp is a frontman 10g and it has awaful distortion, so i bought a pedal and it was making a whining sound, so my next course of action is this, it sound amazing. Thanks for doing a review on it
I have an older Micro version... Had it for 15 years. Used it alot since it uses batteries, and in my opinion it sounds better/different when not connected. Ofcourse not comparable to my Fender or Vox amps, but a good portable pratice amp.
I bought a Micro Cube some 16 years ago(I think, can't quite recall, but I've had it for a long, long time) and it still plays and sounds really nice. It's a great little practice amp, I'm not upset one little bit by purchasing it, it's fun to plug into and play. Also, I never knew that Canadian English was so damn hard to speak, hell, even Canadians have a hard time speaking it....
I worked up around Lake Ontario for a year, and didn't have trouble with understanding the English of the Canadians, but I never understood what they liked about "chicken french" or poutine.
This is not my only amp, I have bigger and better ones. When I got this one, I did not particularly like the stock tones. But the models are very easy to change with the COSM app. I happen to like the Fender, Tweed and Vox combo models. I am not a big fan of the stack models, but I am not a metal guy. The acoustic and bass models are not great either. But, overall, for me using those three models, for an inexpensive, fun, easy to transport practice amp, it is pretty nice.
Hmmm, sounds ok I suppose. Best sounding bedroom practice amp is the Yamaha THR, by far, IMO . Pricey but untouched for tone at lower volume. The THR 5 is fine and loud enough. For the price, tone, features, if you can turn it up… go Katana for practice or gigging.
The humbuckers sound better in the dirty channels but the clean zone is where it really shines. You would be better off using the clean channel and push your favorite pedals through it. That's where the baby cube might shine the best. Gr👀vy vid Mr. Bailey❗
I have the micro cube with 4 speakers and the 80XL...not all sounds are great, but some are good for practice...don't go pass 12 o'clock on the gain and roll your volume down in your guitar a bit if the sound gets grainy...try to get a good tone first and then add some gain to 4-5.
Cool 😎 I have the Vox mini 5 rhythm, and it’s a great little busking battery amp . I use mine basically as a monitor and run a boss gt1 into the aux import . Works for my needs and I have yet to use the 5 watt setting I’m on .5 most of the time practicing at home
The one I use for practice and being completely mobile is the fender mustang micro with an aux cord going to a Marshall Kilburn rechargeable speaker. It is an expensive option because the Kilburn is expensive but the sound is unbelievable for such a small package.
That sounded pretty good. I am also curious what you were think of the recorded sound versus what you heard in the room. It is really amazing how far little practice amps have come compared with what they were back in the day when I started playing guitar.
Apart from the clean tone that sounded OK, but dull, I didn't like the distortion tones at all. They sounded quite harsh & trebly. Speaking of which, how is "good" and "bad" tone generally defined anyway? 🤔
Are you sure you didn't have the mids up too high? The knob was almost at the same level as the treble and you didn't change it at all. I think turning it down would have been a good idea.
It seems that it would be very nice for a starter amp considering its capabilities and the fact that it definitely sounded better than what usually comes paired in those starter package deals. Tone wise, it did have some shrill moments straight out of the box, but you were able to hone it in after dialing in on it a while. Would I buy one? Doubtful, but would I recommend one? Possibly. I can definitely see how this could inspire a new player to practice.
That Crunch channel sounded like a fizzy little box. The Clean seemed decent enough. The Lead channel? Hard to say. It's difficult to assess the effects on a distorted channel. I would need to hear those on clean.
To my ears it's sounding pretty horrid. I'm wondering if something is wrong with this amp. I used to have a Cube Street EX. And although I don't remember it sounding stellar, I don't remember it sounding this bad.🤔Edit: now that I'm in the second half of this video I see it's sounding a wee bit better that you've dialed it in.
yeah not all the models work well but if you mess with it you can get some really nice stuff out of it. I bought a cheap klon klone and that is what I used most of the time with this amp. I sold it an Im actually shipping it out today. best 15 bucks I ever spent easiest 100 i ever made.
Well…..its no Princeton Reverb!! Its ok-certainly a bit harsh at times-lots of buzz with some of the distortion. Personally I think best pure solid state reasonably priced amp that is actually gig worthy is the Peavey Bandit (esp older USA made versions). For a small practice portable solid state amp I think I still prefer one of the Vox battery powered amps (Vox DA-5 or newer version of it-the Mini-5 Rhythm) over this. Still its decent especially for the price. As for Modeling amps the only other one that is portable and not in the $300 and up price range (and thus comparable in price to this Roland Cube) would be one of the old Fender Mustang I (version 1 or 2) amps. That’s my 2 cents
Some of the sounds were pretty good, others not so much, just like most of the smaller practice type amps. No matter what this one sounded like, I instantly knew it wasn't for me when you pulled out the power adapter. No standard wall cord, no purchase. Sounded ok at rhe clean and lead Chanel, best at the clean. As usual the expectations are not very high for such small and cheap amps. For the money its decent.
dude look how you had the eq adjusted and you thought it sounded bad... scoop your mids and turn up your bass turn down treble! I'm pretty sure all guitar amps sound like crap. if anyone wants to prove me wrong, hmu and I'll give you my address so you can send me a good sounding amp.
It should be called the square instead of cube. Your amp-pressions and facial contortions while playing sound and not music says it all! Not for me but may be for someone like the alley cats on a fence post at night! A little harsh but so was the sound!
A good guitar player will know how to make this amp sound correctly, with the right dynamics in playing, and musicality. I'm not saying he's a bad player, because I don't know his other videos.. The fact is he doesn't want to like it, it's obvious. So he plays in a very uninspired way, so the amps uninspiring. With his eyes closed, you would have said to him it's a high end practice amp, he would have played with attention and INTENTION.. And it would have been a whole other story.. Or maybe he only plays random chords with zero groove all the time? Who knows Just watch this, and understand what I'm saying ua-cam.com/video/ePEtqvVBxL4/v-deo.htmlsi=YmJNDFAO4weK_kMA

I think the micro offers more
dude look how you had the eq adjusted and you thought it sounded bad... scoop your mids and turn up your bass turn down treble! I'm pretty sure all guitar amps sound like crap. if anyone wants to prove me wrong, hmu and I'll give you my address so you can send me a good sounding amp.
I tried all that. didn't like it
Clean was ok, the rest…meh. Thanks for the review though, I’ll stick with my Vox Rhythm 5.
good choice!
I’m afraid of cubes and clowns
Thanks, your video shows me why I don't want a Roland Cube!
I think it's so so :)
You should have watched Elmo Karjalainen first. He review the same product and sounded way better.
It should be called the square instead of cube. Your amp-pressions and facial contortions while playing sound and not music says it all! Not for me but may be for someone like the alley cats on a fence post at night! A little harsh but so was the sound!
Really ? You think it sounds horrible. Interesting 🤔
just remember you are not hearing what I hear in the room
How much better is it than the old favourite the micro cube? ohh it sounds like shit. In this case, save up and buy the katana
I'm guessing the Micro Cube is the way to go
Not the best amp I’d say. A Fender Champion 20 would be a better bet.
ya I've heard people like those
One now ponders on what might happen were one to clap their hands four times in a row.
explosions
I am an idiot? Well jokes on you i allready knew that. Check mate!
🤪
If you didn’t laugh at that audio slave joke than bruhhhhhhh
Ouch! It sounds like crap. I’ll stick with my Spark.
I don't blame you!
sounds terrible. buy a vst like Bias fx instead for good sounds
Who knows
Just watch this, and understand what I'm saying
ua-cam.com/video/ePEtqvVBxL4/v-deo.htmlsi=YmJNDFAO4weK_kMA
he made it sound even worse in that video!
It sounds really bad
Cubical
and square!
Sounds good for the size once dialed in... Oh, check your Instagram chat. I sent you a funny pic of Animal 😆
It’s not really a cube though innit… they should call it the square
it's a little square
@@landonbailey it may be a little square but it’s more cool than square.
Yikes. I'll leave it at that.
🤣
I wasn’t digging the tones. Love the tele of course and the humor.
same :)
That was gawd awful! Im biased though, I have a Roland blues cube artist. 😉
Nice one!
You don't have to own a very good amp to not need that amp. Fuckin' fun video, though. Play guitar, have fun!
PGHF!
Not very appealing
and dated a bit
well it does not sound good
it's rough
$200 new? That's a joke. Get a Katana or a Spark.
u play noisy chords man
that is correct
