This seems like it could be super useful for people getting started without that muscle memory too! I totally agree that changing your workflow when it's so well-worn into your neurons can be super hard :)
Yeah, even when I was actively trying to test it I had to fight my hand away from the keyboard lol.
It's super nice with the Surface tablet though, it might actually make me start drawing with it more.
I am so excited this is finally available for non-Samsung devices because now I can try it! As a laptop user, I think this may be useful for me at some point. My working area gets very cramped with so many extra tool windows open and it's sadly very frustrating when I want to focus on the whole canvas yet need certain features available that crowd it out.
It's so useful for smaller screens!
Nice video! Companion mod is really cool, especially being able to mix colors or use quick access on it. Although I'd like to be able to swipe left and right between panels. Also, putting 2 or more panels on screen at the same time would be great, like choosing brush size and color at the same time, or coupling special keys and pan/zoom zone.
Sharing mixing palettes would also be a great addition!
Yes! I can. Definitely see a ton of room for expansion and improvement.
@@madameberry I know, right? But it's already very good, something no other paint software do. Personally, I use it in conjunction with my iPad, to gain screen real estate. But it's versatile and I'm sure it'll fit for a variety of use cases!
companion mode has so many features besides the shortcuts that I think I'll try it. (I also tend to use my mouse over most shortcuts so... I'm sure I'd like it lol). my tablet has buttons for basic functions but a shortcut to my favorite brushes would be nice. I'm especially attracted to the zoom and rotate canvas features.
It's honestly so nice being able to tuck the menus away and have the full tablet space available to draw with
For now, I'll stick to the EKRemote on my Cintiq, but I can see the potential of the Companion app. Also, the PSD's with the text layer open perfectly in Affinity suite of apps.
Yeah if you already have a remote (or a keyboard in reach like I do on my desktop) it's not as useful, but it was great using it on my tablet
Also, good to know about the Affinity thing!! I don't tend to use text in Clip Studio but it's awesome the exported PSD work in Affinity too

i still can't use anything else than keyboard for shortcuts, i tried the wacom remote, the shortcuts on my tablet but i always come back to my keyboard. but it's a nice update tho!
My muscle memory wouldn't let me use anything but my keyboard either lol
But its nice for if you don't have a keyboard, like if you're drawing with a tablet.
Does it work if the pc is on an ethernet cable while the phone is on wifi? My pc doesn't have any way to connect to wifi networks :(
Yes, it works with Ethernet. My PC is on Ethernet. It just needs to connect to the internet somehow and Ethernet works for that.
ah, another person of the left handed master race, salutations. Buttons on screen tablet sucks, because they are not comfy to use (even wacom), and are way too little for nothing more than pan, rotate and zoom. I think the preview mode on the phone is already worth just for testing on real size device vertical comics. there is nothing that beats testing on the mobile device itself and making sure everything is the right size and space before comiting , just like any traditional comic would storyboard and place dialogs on real size paper before even filling pages with stick figures.
keyboard is a must if you also use 3d models for background or for more detailed stuff like unreal engine to save time on rehusable props.
this is so awesome 👌🏼QuickResponse Codes are revolutionary to all tech in the 20th century... technology is moving so fast its unbelievable. I have a huion kanvas pro 13 . I'd love if huion sent out an update for it to be able to work with phones via type C cable. I hate having to turn on my PC just to use my tablet 😑
I think for desktop users most artist will automatically go to their keyboard or some type of shortcut device. But for artist using an iPad I think this will be great.
companion mode won't work from pc to tablet help please, I can't afford to buy a whole new tablet just so I can draw properly
I believe it only works from phone to tablet or PC, not the other way around.
Also you should be able to use CSP just fine without it, it's just an added bonus.
