Our light just came on this morning in our 2005 CRV, found your video and unplugged the connector. Was able to do it one handed and you are right, just a holder, no pins in the connector block. However, started the sequence and it went off by itself without doing anything. I left it unplugged and a paperclip in the car in case it comes on again. Thanks for the video! UA-cam strikes again!
I think after it goes off u have to then plug it back in to stay off. U didn't say that. No wonder it went on again. Took about 15 tries. I struggled putting the clip in the 2nd time fast enough. THANK U SIR! Sold my car because no warning lights now. :)
Thanks for the comment! Yes, it is important to get the clip in the 2nd time quickly, which I mentioned, but maybe not emphasized enough. Thanks for your thought and I'm glad it worked for you!
I wish I could give you three thumbs up! This is EXACTLY what UA-cam is for. SRS light wouldn’t go out this afternoon, found your video, did the process, fixed! Can’t be sure it will stay that way, but at least if it doesn’t, I know it’s because there’s a real problem. Thanks so much for the awesome information. You save me a huge headache and surely plenty of money too.
So glad it worked for you friend! Feel free to subscribe, plan on posting a video on getting your windshield washer fluid running again. And replacing the automatic window opener motor, which goes out on these CRV's. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! This did the trick and shut the SRS light off. For me the SRS light stayed on after I replaced the right side (passenger) seat beat buckel unit that was not wanting to clasp. FYI: If you have alot of thick wires blocking the view of this yellow plug and you can't get to it try this...punch in on You tube this: "Honda CRV instrument cluster light replacement". On this video the guy shows you how to remove this lower panel and it's super easy, just 2 screws and you pull gently! This makes getting to the yellow SRS plug connector alot easier if it's being blocked. Hope this helps.
Thanks for this, worked perfectly, but it took about 3 tries. Extra bonus help, the harness wires were too short to fully come out of the compartment, looks like the wrapped all the wires together. I could not hold the harness and get the paper clip in. I took a quick clamp and clamped the harness to a large wire feed, this kept it in place so I could push in and pull out the clip in the few seconds required.
YOU ARE A STAR! Uncle sold me this car and said light was nothing to worry about. Mot is in a couple of months. Saw that it failed a few years ago, (whilst he owned it) because of this very issue and very happy you helped me resolve it. Gonna let him know I fixed it now 😁👍 many thanks
Glad I could help! I'm gonna be posting soon how to do a 3" lift, install a brush bar, and essentially Pimp out your CRV. Its gonna be sweet. Thanks for watching!
@@mikesbackyardmechanic kewl! Do you recommend any particular tyres for this crv? Currently deciding between all season and winter here in the UK. Have 15inch alloys OEM from Honda 2004
If you have snow 8 months or more out of the year, I would go with winter, otherwise All Season would be better. In my upcoming UA-cam video, I am putting larger All Terrain tires on mine after I do a 3" lift on the suspension. They look sick! They are more for looks, because I don't off-road too much. Hopefully you can settle on some that look great and serve your needs. Thanks for watching.
My son bought this 2004 CRV a few years ago while interning in Phoenix. He’s been driving it around with the SRS light on ever since. (He thought they light meant it was working...Ugh). I found your video and gave it a try. It worked as advertised. First try! I’ll be checking out some of your other CRV videos. Thanx
Thanks for the video, got my MOT due soon. Couple of questions: - Any alternatives to paperclips - do you have to turn the ignition off each time you insert the paper click? - when I start the car the srs light stays on (yet to unplug the cable yet) but in the video you said it turns off after 7 sec. Will this happen when the cables unplugged?

Ok, here is another option if it doesn't work for you. I did what he said in the video and it would flash twice and keep coming back on. I thought I'd have to bring it in but I read somewhere to make sure the connectors under the passenger seat are pushed in nice and tight. I did that and did the reset sequence again and it worked!
Glad it helped! Hopefully you had a chance to see the CRV Upgrade videos on our channel for some great ideas for your sweet CRV. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing! 😊
thank you so much. i can't believe something from UA-cam actually worked on my car! I just got my timing belt and the engine mount replaced then this light appeared. thank you so much for this fix!
Thanks mate. My mechanic could not find any error on the ECU. Before I went to Honda who would have charged me a few hundred bucks I tried your method. Works. In.. off..out...on..in...off...out.. Blinks twice.. Stays off..

Thank you so much for this video, the srs light has been on for the past couple of months and this video explained really clearly how to switch it off. Struggled to get the paperclip into the plug but with holding while turning the ignition worked eventually. light is now off, if it does come on again i know what to do. Grateful thanks
I've fixed a Honda Odyssey (2005) after a left-front crash, replacing my driver airbag and left sensor. Might you know where to find the MES connector? Will your fix safely put me on the road again with the light off and bag on? My thanks.
So if the light is on the airbag system won't work but if you do this and get it to stay off, the airbag system will work? Mine is on due to seatbelt switch... Previous owner got something sticky in it. Will the light go off if I resolve the sticky issue?
Success it only too me about one hour and around thirty tries but I got it and it feels so good. Almost called it a night because the SRS light would not go off the second on round.I think it was a matter of proper timing and having both pins all the way in.I believe a proper jumper could of save some time. Getting the plug off looked like it would be a challenge but was the easiest part of the job.I would not want to do it again but I am feeling confident if needed.
Hello, please help if possible. 2004 Honda crv. There's a blue plug in my fuse box that's currently unplugged, and I have no idea where its meant to be plugged in. Blue plug, with 1 x brown wire and 1 x brown and yellow wire. Any idea where its meant to be plugged in? In cab fuse fox. a bunch of vacant slots above the usual fuses. any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Its useful and works at first try, but I have problem, when I turn on car again light is still on. I checked under knees connections too, but light is still on. Help me if u can, in my place its so expensive to solve this problem. Thanks.
Hello there. The trick is to do it faster as soon the lights come off take the paper clip out and as soon as it comes on put it back, and do it a few times. Another thing is to make sure you are putting the paper clip in the correct two holes. Also, try to use a coated paper clip with the ends stripped. Without the coating, your fingers may be grounding the circuit. Also a couple commenters below found success with this additional tip: "I read somewhere to make sure the connectors under the passenger seat are pushed in nice and tight. I did that and did the reset sequence again and it worked!" I hope it helps! Thanks for watching!
I followed the instructions on my Honda 2002 CRV. I have 2 wires pluged into the yellow connectors and have them connected when turned on the igition. The SRS light came on for 6 seconds and them went off. I disconnect the 2 wires when the light went off. Reconnect the wires again when the light came on again. But, the light just would not go off the 2nd time. The video suggests trying the connect and reconnect pattern twice. But, my try did not yield the 2nd round of connect and reconnect. I did check the connectors underneath both driver & passenger side seats. They seemed to fastened firmly. Anyone have any suggestions whereelse to check? Thanks.
Sorry that you are having some difficulty. The timing is very critical when inserting and removing the paper clip, I had to do it a couple times myself before it worked. (Hard to insert both ends quickly and simultaneously in the few seconds before the light resets.) Also, I used a paper clip that was coated, is your wire or paperclip coated? Perhaps a bare wire/clip can ground out by your touch and is causing it not to work? I would use an insulated or coated wire or paperclip. IT WILL WORK. Unless you have another issue going on that may need a further diagnostic. Also, is your car a 2001-2006 Honda CRV? I hope this helps and gets you fixed up. Thanks for watching.
very nicely explained-appreciate. These dealers are dacoits and no action by any authority in Canada. My car crv 2003 was called back and after they check, this SRS signs starts coming and when I visited the Honda Dealer, they said " there could be 300 reasons for this signs"sorry. These people have gone crazy for money and cheating the clients-.God bless you my dear.
If you tried that many times and it still keeps coming on... you may have a bonafide issue with the air bag system. Sorry dude, you should have it looked at by a dealer. Mine has never come back on after the reset even after a year.
I went to my local Moorehead Honda dealership in Newburgh, NY for an airbag recall with SRS light on...they did the recall and left the SRS light on. They didn't bother to go the extra mile here to reset the light. Why would they leave that annoying SRS light on? -Also the reason why I visited your UA-cam channel! I'm getting tired of seeing this indicator light on and not sure why it went on in the first place? THX
Hi, I have 2010 Honda CRV. It has side airbag light been on. My fuse box and yellow plug are different than yours. I tried what you showed and didn’t work. Any ideas please share ? Thanks.
Sorry it sounds like your CRV is a newer one. Maybe some of our viewers can offer a link or suggestion for your model year. Sorry. Thanks for watching.
Hello there! If after resetting (turning off) the SRS light, as shown in our video, and it later turns back on with a few days, I would take off the battery cable for 10 minutes, check all wire connections for the SRS unit and make sure they are good, then reconnect the battery. Reset the SRS light one more time if needed. If it still comes back on, I recommend taking to the dealer to run a full diagnostic just to make sure there are no other issues. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I did the reset and the light went off, but when i wait like 1-2 minutes and turn the car on, the light comes back. Any ideas what could be the problem?
Quick question, might sounds stupid 🙄 lol but will it disable the srs? Even though the lights off haha 😆 because my lights just came on after putting in a new radio
I have 2012 Accord, but really can't locate that SCS/MES connector. I just pulled one yellow connector, but it turned out that wasn't SCS/MES, because it was sitting in real socket with metal connectors, I put it back there. But I need to check how to reset SRS light, because I need to make sure if it's stays or goes away.
My video is for the 2001 - 2006 CRV only. I think the location for the accord is on the passenger side. I recommend searching for a youtube video for your car model. Hope you get it and save some $$$.
Ri Inspection Station wanted $3,500 to replace all my airbags so I would pass inspection, and still charged me $100 for the failed inspection when he could see the light on from the very beginning. He also left one of his diagnostic computers in my floor board. After trying this, I told him I'd look for his computer when he had the audacity to call me and ask for it back. Internet FTW once more.
If it keeps coming back on after you reset it, then sad to say there may be an actual problem with your SRS unit that will need to be checked by your local repair man. I reset mine about a year ago and it has never turned back on. Sorry bro.
Hi, thanks for your comment. The engine should NOT be running when performing the sequence. However, the key should be turned to the ACC/ON position during the whole proceedure. And then at the end when the SRS light remains off, turn the key all the way off, then start the engine. The SRS light will do its normal startup blinks and shut off and remain off. Also one of the other commenters below found success with this additional tip: "but I read somewhere to make sure the connectors under the passenger seat are pushed in nice and tight. I did that and did the reset sequence again and it worked!" I hope it helps! Thanks for watching!
Hi there. Sorry you are having difficulty. You do have to time it perfectly. You may have a problem that needs attention, and that's why it keeps turning back on. Have you had it looked at by the dealer? It won't cost you anything to have them look at it, or to turn it off if there is no issues. But if there is an issue, they can tell you what it is.
My is error code 2-2 which is passenger side airbag resistance too large. Originally dealership reset thru computer, but it lights up again after a few miles drive. I unplug the yellow connector at top of the passenger glove box several times (Remember to unplug your battery both +/- first and wait for at least 3 mins to avoid remaining power in cap), then use the video reset. Now SRS light is gone and didn't light up again.
Mickie Liu take a 2.6 Om's resistor unplug the airbag wire usually 2 yellow wires going to the airbag plug the resistor on the wire do the reset like he shows you the air bag light will go out leave the resistor plugged into airbag wiring not the airbag it self the reason the lights on its because the igniter failed and the airbag is garbage so the resistor will trick the computer thinking the airbag is plugged in and is working and the light will stay off
Hi, I don't believe that it will affect your cruise control. HOWEVER, there is an issue with this model and the cruise control. I fixed the issue on my CRV several months ago and hope to post a video. The issue is with the cruise control cable receiver on the throttle body. It is made of plastic, and over time it breaks. The easiest way to repair it is to replace the entire throttle body w/ Cruise control assembly. You can find a used one on-line or at a junk yard MUCH cheaper than a new one. It takes about 20 minutes to replace. I hope to post a video about it soon. I'm not sure if this is YOUR issue, but I suspect it could be. Thanks for your comment and for watching! You are always welcome to subscribe to my channel so you don't miss a video. :-)
I’m having a problem that other commenters haven’t mentioned. I managed to get rid of the srs light on my 6th try, however, when I shut off the car and started it up again the light didn’t turn off again. Anyone have a solution to this problem?
My crv is draining battery sometimes even if im driving and i stall it csuse its standard it will need a jump then other times no. It can sit for days and not need a jump and sometimes does. Any suggestions anyone
Hello there! How is the alternator? Is it putting out enough voltage while running to charge your battery? If it is dying while driving, it is almost always the alternator. You can have Advance Auto or AutoZone check it for free. Also have the battery tested, they go bad too, usually after 3 years. Also check your battery cables and connections. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing to our channel!

I’ve tried 10-15 times and it goes off. Blinks twice and stays off for a sec then comes back on.
If you tried that many times and it still keeps coming on... you may have a bonafide issue with the air bag system. Sorry dude, you should have it looked at by a dealer. Mine has never come back on after the reset even after a year.
Does this work for the airbag light as well?
Damn it really worked on the third try!!!
Can you tell what do you mean connectors under passengers seat?
Hello there! Sorry I do not understand your question, can you please be more specific and descriptive? Thanks for watching and commenting!
First failed, my error. I assumed to turn off the key each time... it worked when I left the key ON, and just pulled the clip. Thanks!
Awesome! Yes you have to pull the clip out after the light goes out the final time, otherwise the light will turn back on. Thanks for watching.
THX
So sad for all $ the dealer charges. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Hi,
I have 2010 Honda CRV.
Thanks for your reply.
what if the light is indicating a real problem? how do you know? is a diagnostic what tells you there's an airbag/seatbelt problem?
Hello there! If after resetting (turning off) the SRS light, as shown in our video, and it later turns back on with a few days, I would take off the battery cable for 10 minutes, check all wire connections for the SRS unit and make sure they are good, then reconnect the battery. Reset the SRS light one more time if needed. If it still comes back on, I recommend taking to the dealer to run a full diagnostic just to make sure there are no other issues. Thanks for watching and commenting!
It worked on my 2002 Crv, thanks so much!
Trying to do it to my crv
I did the reset and the light went off, but when i wait like 1-2 minutes and turn the car on, the light comes back. Any ideas what could be the problem?
Great video, thank you. Worked like a charm. You are the man!
Quick question, might sounds stupid 🙄 lol but will it disable the srs? Even though the lights off haha 😆 because my lights just came on after putting in a new radio
It will not disable the SRS. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your great help in solving this.
You are most welcome!
Same trouble my Crv 2002 gen 2. Im can tray in my care Tq
saved me a lot of trouble man! thanks alot!
Glad it helped!
Thanks done the trick.
Dude, totally worked. Thank you!!
it worked, but only until the next time I started the engine. Do I need to go through this every time I start the engine?
If it keeps coming back on after you reset it, then sad to say there may be an actual problem with your SRS unit that will need to be checked by your local repair man. I reset mine about a year ago and it has never turned back on. Sorry bro.
ty i just count get good connection 6 times a charme
is it the same for honda crv 2007?
Awesome!!! Thank you much.
It works just trying few times. 6 4 4 then 2 blinks then light go out
Thanks a lot i got the way to do it my self.. Next time how about ABS light..
Worked just as you said, thank you.
Great to hear!
Wow! Thanks, just did a reset by myself.
Does the car have to be in the on position or with the engine running?
Hi, thanks for your comment. The engine should NOT be running when performing the sequence. However, the key should be turned to the ACC/ON position during the whole proceedure. And then at the end when the SRS light remains off, turn the key all the way off, then start the engine. The SRS light will do its normal startup blinks and shut off and remain off. Also one of the other commenters below found success with this additional tip: "but I read somewhere to make sure the connectors under the passenger seat are pushed in nice and tight. I did that and did the reset sequence again and it worked!" I hope it helps! Thanks for watching!
Thank you, Sir!
Is the same process for the crv 2000?
Hello there! 2000 CRV is a different generation, our video is for 2nd Gen only. Sorry! 😌
Well that was a great help thankyou many times
Does this work for CRV 2013?
Why into my crv2003mdl doesn't work it's still light up the SRS what do u think the problem?
But when its the first try the light come out but it's come back after 3s
Mickie Liu take a 2.6 Om's resistor unplug the airbag wire usually 2 yellow wires going to the airbag plug the resistor on the wire do the reset like he shows you the air bag light will go out leave the resistor plugged into airbag wiring not the airbag it self the reason the lights on its because the igniter failed and the airbag is garbage so the resistor will trick the computer thinking the airbag is plugged in and is working and the light will stay off
Would this effect the cruise control not working
Anyone have a solution to this problem?
does it work for crv 2008?
My crv is draining battery sometimes even if im driving and i stall it csuse its standard it will need a jump then other times no. It can sit for days and not need a jump and sometimes does. Any suggestions anyone
Hello there! How is the alternator? Is it putting out enough voltage while running to charge your battery? If it is dying while driving, it is almost always the alternator. You can have Advance Auto or AutoZone check it for free. Also have the battery tested, they go bad too, usually after 3 years. Also check your battery cables and connections. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing to our channel!
I've got the same issue. Same car. Thank you! 🙌💯
Glad it helped
