Saw this on Jools last night, and truth be told, got very choked up with tears. Besides the fact that he is an icon of the music world, what shows here for me is his vast knowledge of musical history and remembrance. This lovely song, the way that he has written and arranged it, harkens back to a time we have not heard from in decades. Perfection. - If you were not soothed and brought to thought by this work, perhaps you might take a moment and press play again.

I watched this and I immediately went to my keyboard and reasonably found the chords to follow and have a play. That sequence of major, major 7th, 6th, and back to major 7th again is just beautiful. Then it follows with using that same idea with the dominant 7th cadence is even more beautiful. Just genious!

He’s such a part of my life’s fabric. First single I bought was town called malice, then bought snap.
Met him when I was 22 around 1990 working in a pub, he’d been at Peter Gabriel’s studio up the road.
    Absolute gent of a man

Heard this on the live revival. I was busy writing an email and wasn't really paying any attention to the TV whatsoever, but this song captured me. I felt full of emotions hearing it, there's something so beautiful about it.

Very elegant indeed. Saw The Jam in 1977 at the Winning Post, Whitton and
they were superb. Paul has nothing left to prove to anybody.
    His back catalogue remains timeless.
Nick Drake would've been proud of this track.

me too pal..i practically wore out my older brothers C90 cassette of All Mod Cons when i was a wee ankle biter..and im sure endless nights of Dig the New Breed cranked up on the headphones has now had its effect on my hearing..honestly..just needed to hear that crowd goin mental live..i still think that All mod cons into To be someone without barely a pause is one of the best moments ever listened to..magic.

What happened to the Modfather ?? he is much better with a band not an Orchestra .. Shocking i wonder what Weller of 77 would make of this ?? he forgets what music has made him great band The Jam , A few good songs from The Style Council . The first solo album was just brilliant and one of my favourite all times albums . Slowly but surely he is turning into a Radio 4 icon . He needs me to listen to his next album before release .. this album won't be remembered for rhe right reasons .. sad really
