The Donnas should have been a global phenomenon. Awesome songs, killer stage presence, and they were all about the music (no stupid T&A bullshit, even though they were cute). I don't think Atlantic pushed them hard enough.
They really didn't, even though the two Atlantic albums are really solid. They were in a few commercials and had a song in a Gran Tourismo release of the time, but Atlantic didn't really give them the push they needed. What's really sad is nobody told Torrie early on that her technique was poor. Could have saved a career if just one person had said "hey, don't do that!".
IMPRESSIVE how ALL The Donnas Official Videos are PERFECT CINEMA. Production, Direction, Acting, Photography, Color, Art... Everything. In 1980's, only Billy Idol and Tina Turner Videos as so All-Professional.
This track denotes many milestones. The Donna's had finally nailed their peak presence, sound, look. They had so much progress in such a short time. This is still their best album.
The "Gold Medal" album this track comes from is great, even if it's got a short overall running time. This is my favourite track on the album - I've had the CD for many years, but it's taken until late 2020 for me to see this video for the first time!
The thing is, Gold Medal doesn't *feel* short. It feels like it's just about the right length. And almost every song lets the band stretch a little (the piano solo on Gold Medal being a perfect example of this).
It really is a song that works on so many levels...it's close to being the almost perfect rock-commercial song around. It has pretty well it all in just over 3 minutes.
The Donnas have many songs that are much better than this. But I much prefer when they rock out a little harder than this. This sounds like “we need a song for clear channel radio” lol.
There were a few faux pas in the leadup to what should have been a great career for these ladies. This tune takes no prisoners and should have garnered major radio.
I always thought this band never got the attention it should have. Drummer was full of energy and guitar player had killer riffs. The singer was the weak link in the Donnas but it still worked. Time for a comeback album. 😃
I agree, Allison was the strong one and imo the one who carried the band. If it wasn’t for her, I don’t think the Donnas would even be a bit of what they were. And as much as I loved them when I was a teen many, many years ago, yes Brett was the weakest link.
@@thewhatsupquiquiBrett was the weakest link but I absolutely loved her effort & she was ABOUT IT, much respect for that. She didn’t pause on slip ups either, they all rocked 😊I miss them so much I can’t stand to call any weak 😢haha
The Donna's helped this gullible, ignorant 18 year old from the back woods discover her true self back in '04. Just remember that even if the people who surround you are nothing like you, there are huge crowds of you out there. GO DISCOVER THEM AND HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!!
I gotta give mad respect to these girls for not wearing skimpy provocative outfits that most female so called music artists like all the Britney Spears',Christina Aguileras and many others that fell under the late 90's/early 2000's moniker because sex sells, these ladies went and moved on to do other great things for themselves.
HOLY SHIT, my dad used to always play this song and I've just spent the past hour going through his compilation CDs trying to find it, I'm not disappointed
Guys I recently discovered the donnas. I was listening to a song on Herbie Fully Loaded and I needed to see who sang the song because I instantly fell in love with it. I I saw that it was peformed by the donnas. I searched UA-cam but I couldn't find it. I managed to download it and I created a video of their song from Herbie Fully Loaded which was "roll on down the highway" I am really upset that no one knows of it. Its truly amazing. Please search " ROLL ON DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE DONNAS"
ONE of the Many Reasons Why these Ladies were Outta My League... First, they embraced the hardcore lightbulb era in which I was just turned off of. However, later I understood the value in the left hand sided posters in Spencers. Also, many times in this Video a real life Unicorn walked along the video. My friends along with I did not believe in Unicorns. but NOW know the truth. The Donnas have always been HardCore and UNDER the Radar. except for that winter olympics. Albeit, The Donnas will ALWAYS be hardcore and will have my respect. Each and every one of the Four. Are they HorseWomen of the Apocalypse? Only Time will Tell. They Are Beauty and They Are ROCK! This Video...along with their others...RULE!
man...i hope this band never stops. We can get metallica and motley for free on web, but i hope everyone buys the Donnas record. this is a band that really deserves to be supported. they are waving their own unique rock n roll flag.
Saw them play at Warped 99 or 00, forgot which. Fresno CA. Crazy hot Summer day, Top tier bands stage was facing the sun. Weezer, Donnas, Green Day, Suicide Machines all killed it.
Girl rock is one of my favorite genres...these gals are great...powerful....especially the lead guitar. I think I only like Letters to Cleo better in that genre I'm showing my age
They play their songs occasionally. You wouldn’t believe the amount of places you’d hear “Take it off” back in the early 2000’s. You would think this was the richest girl band on the planet….however, music contracts were not in their favor. They could have survived on royalties alone as a band for life at one point, but legally got screwed. They switched back to independent & apparently (from what I’ve been reading, catching up on them today) still perform at concerts/festivals as independent artists (not signed by a label).
The Donnas should have been a global phenomenon. Awesome songs, killer stage presence, and they were all about the music (no stupid T&A bullshit, even though they were cute). I don't think Atlantic pushed them hard enough.

fucking rock gods to me. I have been obsessed with them for 20 years.
What really did it imo is when the people at Atlantic Records left and new people took over it just....they were dealt crap cards and it’s a shame
IMPRESSIVE how ALL The Donnas Official Videos are PERFECT CINEMA.

I couldn't agree more.
This track denotes many milestones. The Donna's had finally nailed their peak presence, sound, look. They had so much progress in such a short time. This is still their best album.
Just "discovered" them, can't believe I never heard of them until now. Absolute bangers.
Check out their version of STRUTTER from DETROIT ROCK CITY, thank me later.
Start with the 7 inch, they were all 13 years old and it's epic!
I only find out about bands after they're gone. These guys and Detroit Cobras are prime examples.
2024 Still loving it 😍
I just "discovered" the Donnas tonight. They've instantly become one of my favorite bands.
+Show-Me Skeptic It's a great feeling when you discover a band you really like.
Show-Me Skeptic this is me rn! just heard this song on Spotify so I came here to check it out. love it
wack
I've known about these Rock Queen's since 94, seen them many times.
I wish they'd hit the road one more time.
Yeah but it sucks when you discover them and they already broke up lol
That guitar tone is unbelievable!
Denial Not Accepted foo fighters-times like these rip off
agreed - I just came on here to say the same thing. But, it's a good rip-off nonetheless. I dig it!
@@jay8819 meh and breadfan sounds like a RHCP song. Who cares.
She light weight up with my nigga Jimmy
This song is my alarm clock tone on my phone. It has been that since I had my razor phone back in the mid 2000s
They were so good .
The "Gold Medal" album this track comes from is great, even if it's got a short overall running time. This is my favourite track on the album - I've had the CD for many years, but it's taken until late 2020 for me to see this video for the first time!

Playing time has nothing on me. It’s quality vs quantity
that's so crazy to me! I think this video was my introduction to them. I was immediately obsessed for many years
How come these chicks haven’t become the biggest thing on the planet I’ll never understand.
because their label fuced them dry
Def one of the most underrated songs and bands of all time.
they did move about 500k units total - I call that a success - great band
Is that a unicorn trotting through space leaving a rainbow jetstream? Why yes, yes it is. I love it.
He's actually shitting out a rainbow, and if you look closely, you can see Skittles dotted into the rainbow at various points. LOL!
the opening riff on this track is super sick!
Guitar tone is hypnotic. Allison-Goddess of Guitar Riffs. One of the best rock Songs ever.
Amazing song.
well............
Perhaps the most kick-ass song ever put out by an all female band. Everything works in this song. The Donnas were an incredibly talented group!
I love the Donnas too, but if you want kick-ass music from an all-female band you have have to listen to Betty Blowtorch.
its good but there are better.
It really is a song that works on so many levels...it's close to being the almost perfect rock-commercial song around. It has pretty well it all in just over 3 minutes.
I love The Donnas but do yourself a favor and look up "Dice" by Band-Maid and thank me later.
The Donnas have many songs that are much better than this. But I much prefer when they rock out a little harder than this. This sounds like “we need a song for clear channel radio” lol.
I think this is their masterpeice
This and Revolver
david stanley also Too Bad About Your Girl
Can't believe this album didn't sell well. Apart from Take It Off, it was a far better one than Gold Medal...
Fall Behind Me is actually from Gold Metal. Take It Off was from Spend the Night. Both are excellent albums, but Gold Metal is probably better.
I'm a sucker for rainbows and unicorns but when you add hot babes with guitars to the mix it's true poetry.
THIS IS MY JOINT. Man i wish they got a better shot at it man.
There were a few faux pas in the leadup to what should have been a great career for these ladies. This tune takes no prisoners and should have garnered major radio.

2022..and still one of the most exiting Rockbands ever! Live on stage, they were pure, Sweat-soaked energy!
If this is the second time I commented, I would have said "Solid Song. I Dig"
The rhythm in the guitar, through those verses, makes me want to scream of joy… every time 🤘🏾
The tune that got me started on them
YEAH THE GUITAR IS SO AMAZING 😊👍💪👏✌️💯 0:53

They’re sexy as hell without being slutty. Especially Brett 😍😍

this video is way cool! you have purple laser light Unicorns, space travel, a Black Panther and a Cobra! Hell yeah! Well done
I miss the band! They did some great work! I wish they would put some new music out!
+wayne paine me too. I've been listening to them a lot the past couple of days.
+Beaumont Livingston same here
Beaumont Livingston I catch on quite
its annoying how there's only one studio version of every single donnas song on youtube....

Sounds like a really cool dad!

One of their standout tracks. Love the Black Light poster theme of this video.

Rock'n Roll True Stories brought me here. Love the band and the song!
love these girls
I heard that about 5 seconds of this song was played when going to a commercial break for the NFL game tonight. Anyone notice that ??

GOLD MEDAL
BRILLIANT!!!!!💜💙💚💛🧡❤
im in love with these girls.
I first heard this song during my first shroom trip. That's why I check in once and while to relive the feeling.
