What I like about these 600s is you never need to thrash them as they have loads of low-end grunt and the spacings between the cylinders are quite generous so unlikely to blow head gaskets. With regular oil changes, 100000 miles should be achieved easily. I love my ZZR600 and the engine is one of the best I've come across.
I owned a Ninja 600R back in 1985 and got radar'd doing 153mph by an Alaska State Trooper. The engine still had 1500rpm to go before redline, and the engine produced power and pulled to 1000 rpm past redline (maybe more, I never took it there in 6th gear). I'm absolutely sure 157 to 160 mph was possible, possibly more. They are great bikes.
I've got a 2002 ZX6R with every bolt on except a full header back exhaust and 20K miles. Tonight I hit 176 on the speedometer, its off by ~6-7mph because I'm up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket. I run out of gear at 176mph(169mph corrected).
Sweet!! I’m currently restoring one of these as the previous owner left it sitting for years. I’ll be stripping, cleaning and rebuilding the carb this week. I’ll see how fast I can get it to go when it’s up and running again 😁
