Treating Opioid Addiction with Ibogaine | Making Ibogaine Treatment Safe

Talia Eisenberg, an entrepreneur and mother, experienced a life-changing encounter with ibogaine. Her journey started with a dental procedure in 2007, leading to opioid addiction. Despite trying various treatments, including Suboxone, her addiction persisted.
Talia discovered ibogaine through a friend who had successfully used it to overcome addiction. She traveled to Mexico for an ibogaine treatment, which, despite a challenging experience due to lack of preparation and support, helped her break free from withdrawal symptoms and psychological struggles.
Following her ibogaine experience, Talia became an advocate for safe and ethical ibogaine-assisted treatment, helping others on their healing journeys. She realized her addiction was linked to untreated intergenerational trauma, emphasizing ibogaine's potential to address deeper emotional and psychological aspects of addiction.

On Fri Sep 15, 2023, the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission hosted its second and final public hearing on the proposed allocation of $42 million (over 6 years) to research and develop ibogaine for opioid use disorder.⁠ ⁠
The hearing featured testimony from expert ibogaine therapy providers and patients who have received ibogaine treatment abroad for opioid use disorder or mental health conditions, including several military veterans from the Special Operations community, who have united in advocacy as founding members of the Veteran Mental Health Leadership Coalition. ⁠ Additionally, family members shared heartbreaking stories of how they lost loved ones to overdose after long battles with substance use disorders, and shared their frustrations over the inability to access ibogaine within the United States.
