Can we stop pretending that the Sith really follow the Rule of Two? It's inevitable that the apprentice tries to replace his master, so any good Sith is going to constantly be looking for apprentices.

@@tylerdillmore422 It was generally 3 not 4. A Master, Apprentice and Acolyte. Like Maul was Sideous’ acolyte before he got rid of Plagueis and Ventress was Dooku’s acolyte before Sideous was concerned she was getting too powerful and ordered him to get rid of her. Then he took on Savage Oppress as his acolyte, not realising he was a plant by Ventress.

@@tylerdillmore422ive always thought the rule of 2 “if theres more than 2 of us, the sith wont be successful” i feel like things only took a good turn for Palpatine only after Dooku was killed and Ventruss went elsewhere. Idk about Maul tho. But the rule is cool to me because the Siths own nature to backstab and find an apprentice is why the rule works so well. Its almost like a self full-filling prophecy in a weird way.

@@sebastianmoore4494 On the contrary, the rule worked pretty badly
Bane was unable to accept he messed up, but in his final years he watched it fail in real time, his apprentice was instead waiting for him to just keel over from old age rather than actually kill him. He then tried to seek immortality (violated his own rule) because he obviously wasn't out of touch, it was the children who were wrong, leading to him and zannah fighting over training a 3rd sith and fighting over legal custody of her. Zannah then trained cognus and died, and like 5 mins after the rule was formed, cognus' apprentice went on to leave and say "nah, return to tradition: thousands of sith"
Bane's Rule was effectively telling the religion that prides itself on individuality and freedom to sacrifice itself for the greater good. I can't even name any times people actually listened to the rule and killed their master in a straight fight. Zannah waited for Bane to get old, Plaguies dropped a cave on his master, and Palpy killed Plaguies when he was drunk. It also put too many eggs in one basket, resulting in Darth Gravid almost destroying the Sith entirely and setting them back centuries and Plagueis almost making himself and Palps immortal.

No, he's from the witches coven, hidden and trained secretly because he's male. Thats why he knows so much about what happened there and certainly had some part in it. He probably was created before Osha and Mae but since he was a boy he had to be hidden. This theory is also supported by the fact that when little osha said "we're the only children here", the witches that were fixing their hair looked at each other, and also when the main witch talked about the kids, the camera showed us a witch that looked really similar to Qimir (possibly his mother). Also, he might be the figure in the cloak which is shown as well.

The biggest problem I have with this show is the constant breaking canon. When darth maul appeared, it was one of the Jedi mission to uncover this mystery of the Sith. With all the stuff going on in the Acolyte, the Jedi would be doing the same & the appearance of maul wouldn't be a surprise. Plus if qimir is a Sith, he's not bright revealing himself at this moment could ruin any chance of the Sith gaining power & control. That's why I'm not a fan of this show, if it was set much later maybe towards the end of the old republic it would make sense.

I had an issue with that too until Qimir killed everyone there. Sol and Osha are alive but even if they approach the council with a claim about the Sith I think they’ll be dismissed. The council in the prequels did the same thing, refuse to entertain the possibility of the Sith returning, and it would tie in that sense of complacency in the order. The Jedi already see Sol has a lot of biases and it’ll look even less believable (or suspicious) when they find out he’s brought Mae back with him and everyone else is dead.

I doubt it. Even though the writing of the show isn't particularly good, I still think it is trying to be self contained with the characters already established within itself. My theory is that he could possibly be another force baby created by the witches prior to Osha and Mei and that the four Jedi masters along with Vernestra have more to do with the witch home being destroyed. Vernestra is so keen on keeping things away from the Jedi high council I would not be surprised if she trained Qimir in some fashion.
Plus it seems pretty illogical for someone who doesn't want to be noticed by the Jedi to send someone he is training to kill them. So I believe he has some sentimentality towards the witches, cause when Mei wants to turn herself in, thats when he changes tune and murders the wookie master instead of just disappearing and or going after Mei. Plus he spared a passed out Osha, possibly to tell her the whole 'you and I are not so different' speech trope.
It just feels like it is heading in that direction more than anything else. But I could be dead wrong and we get no clear explanations for anything.

Forget The Acolyte for a moment, *ABELOTH* is the big news I heard the other day and then the recasting for Baylan. Casting for The Mother now makes me excited for Ahsoka S2! I hope Disney hires horror script writers for it. Make it spooky like when Qimir came down like he's Batman '89 right behind Osha. Abeloth needs to be the greatest villain we will ever see in Star Wars lore.
Fans will accept she's a FEMALE character too if they know Legends or her origin story that gets talks about a lot on UA-cam. I always imagined Abeloth to be similar to Countess Elizabeth Báthory in Stay Alive (2006). Make it even more brutal than what Qimir just did to 7 Jedis in Khofar. Let her go on a killing spree. I could imagine many females trying to cosplay as her once she's finally in live action form. Dress up as the most powerful character in Star Wars EU lore.
Going back to The Acolyte, is Qimir or whatever his name is a deadlier Sith than even Darth Maul? I saw Maul kill one Jedi in The Phantom Menace. Smilo Ren killed 7 of them and it was 1 vs. 8 and not 1 vs. 2. But without a lightsaber, Sol seems to be the better fighter. Koreans do have their taekwondo, us Filipinos have only arnis/eskrima/kali. That fight choreography might have been the best we've seen in Star Wars since the Nick Gillard Prequel Era.
Erik Voss said the other day in his breakdown video that Manny did most of his moves in that episode. It wasn't mostly a double. That was mostly him underneath that. He trained hard for it for months. Erik also made a good point the other day. The reason why the lightsaber fights in the Sequel Trilogy sucks is because which Jedis are out there to train them? This is why Kylo Ren and Rey can swing a lightsaber so wildly like a child swinging a baseball bat with no discipline.
I heard from Daisy that the lightsabers were heavy to carry. The OG Trilogy has the same excuse although action scenes in the 70s and 80s were still quite primitive from Americans who hadn't adopted Hong Kong's martial arts style for their movies until the mid to late 90s. Watch Jackie Chan against an axe gang in Drunken Master II and you will be impressed. In the Prequels, the Jedis were still in their heyday. Nick Gillard and throw in wushu world champion, Ray Park, made sure the lightsaber looked like an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.
I've replayed Qimir killing Jecki so many times already that I've lost count. Three quick stabs to make sure she's dead so Dafne can go work on Deadpool & Wolverine. 😂 One stab wasn't enough to kill the Grand Inquisitor, Reva, or Sabine. And even though the identity of Smilo Ren was so obvious, when we see his face after he killed Jecki was really cool. I guess Jecki had to elbow his helmet off just to have an unveiling like that. The Sith kebab scene was just a flex before Manny truly flexed. 💪🏻
To paraphrase Lloyd Christmas about John Denver in Dumb and Dumber (1994): That Conehead Jedi is full of shit, man.
Charlie from Emergency Awesome has a theory that Qimir was present during the Brendok fire. It seems Qimir already met Sol before but Sol does not remember him. And it's not referring to when they met in Ep. 2. Like Qimir knew Sol from way before and maybe that's when his hatred for the Jedis originated. Theories that Qimir might have been Sol's padawan prior. Notice the burn marks on Qimir's arms. I thought they were tattoos at first but they look like burn marks.
On my second viewing, I notice the marking on his back matches the marking on the tree to the right. This is when Qimir sees Osha on the ground. So the early theories is Mae becomes a Jedi and Osha becomes the Acolyte. I personally hope they don't kill off Qimir but they might. He can be useful for future shows. Be the pioneer of the Knights of Ren. We need more Sith happening in our lives. I came to watch The Acolyte for the Sith. That's the original synopsis we read from it about 4-5 years ago. That's what I was excited for. That it's a Sith based plot. I didn't come to watch it for corrupt Jedis and lesbian witch covens.
"I accepted my darkness. What have you done with yours?"
Smilo Ren: the greatest Sith I've ever seen in the Disney era. But then he kinda let's Sol beat him in hand-to-hand combat to show Sol's darkness and to help Osha turn.
So I was watching some of The Good Place last night on Netflix and what a contrast portraying Jason Mendoza to portraying a possible Sith. It's like watching Jaleel White be a Sith after Urkel. But Manny worked on that this show prior called The Romeo Section. He was already in great shape in it. You can see him walking around with no shirt on. So I guess a lot of us underestimated his physique. Manny has always been in great shape as if his last name is Pacquiao. The power of one, the power of two, the power of Manny!
While The Acolyte is NOT great, I am grateful that Disney let a Filipino actor (Asian Ezra Miller as some call him) be a Sith and an instant fan favorite. My Filipinos can finally be more than just being Ned in MCU Spider-Man. Eugene Cordero as Casey in Loki. Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth. Manny Jacinto as Qimir/nameless Sith. Filipinos are finally moving on up! 🇵🇭
There was a video explanation about Cortosis and he said that it can be brittle which explains why Jecki was able to elbow it a couple times and kinda break it. Although I think that scene happened to make it a more dramatic reveal for Qimir. But John Campea does make a valid point with the plot. Wasn't Mae supposed to turn herself in? That's what she told Qimir in Ep. 4. I figure because she found Kelnacca dead, she panicked because it looked like she killed him. But I still don't understand her shooting Sol from behind after he tried to save her and then badmouth Jedis when she had some alone time with Osha. And Sol was ready to explain something to Osha right before Mae shot him! Why did Osha drop the blaster on the ground? Some bad writing.
I was looking at some SW toys the other day and while I know how much people hate The Rise of Skywalker and The Acolyte, I actually would love a toy of Babu Frik and Bazil. I think Bazil looks adorable. He reminds me of my mom's dog. And I love Babu Frik going heyheyy! 🤣 While The Last Jedi is actually the better movie, I enjoyed The Rise of Skywalker thanks to characters like Babu Frik and D-O. I hope Keri Russell returns in some capacity as Zorii Bliss. Keri is prettier when she reached her 40s than her 20s.
The Sequel Trilogy and Disney+ SW series are hated now. But maybe in another 15-20 years, a new generation raised by it will grow to love it like what happened to the Prequels. We still got Andor from it. And The Mandalorian S1 and S2. Hasn't been all that terrible. If we get Abeloth, that might be the character we need for Star Wars to make a great comeback.
What I'm looking forward to in SW -
    Andor S2
    Abeloth in Ahsoka S2
    Dawn of the Jedi
Done. Don't really care about the Skeleton Crew but it could surprise and be fun. Don't care about the next Rey movie unless they add more interesting characters. Lukewarm for the Mandalorian & Grogu movie. Give me Andor S2, Abeloth, and Mangold's SW movie.

Rule of 2 was never followed, darth Sidious was training maul before plaugeis died. And Plaugeis knew that. Its more a suggestion/recommend. The only rules sith follow are the sith code, and not doing unhonourable things.

Knowing how he called Mae an Acolyte, I get the feeling she’s part of a network of acolytes of the Sith like the Knights Of Ren. Think of the assassins from Assassins Creed and their associates, a shadow army that’s giving them influence.

  • @c0lumbo
    @c0lumbo 3 місяці тому +2

Leslye Headland has already told us the story is about a Sith apprentice looking for an acolyte in order to overthrow his master.
It doesn't clash with what Ki Adi Mundi said in the Phantom Menace
The point of that dialogue in The Phantom Menace is that the Jedi Order had been tricked for 1000 years, and the Sith has remained active in the shadows the entire time. It's similar to when he said of Dooku "He's a political idealist, not a murderer." Ki Adi shows the complacency of the Jedi Order in that time period. I am hoping that his character gets a bit of redemption as a result of the Acolyte, as he did seem keen to inform the Jedi High Council before being urged against it by Vernestra Rwoh. He's not being complacent as he seemed in the prequels.
The Acolyte has been consistent with both Legends and existing Disney canon so far. It hasn't changed anything except for Ki Adi Mundi having a longer lifespan than he had in Legends.
I think the Sith master might turn out to be Tenebrous, as there was a ship in one of the trailers that looks a bit like one of his designs, and he was known to have arranged the birth of Darth Plagueis by manipulating his parents into having an affair. It wouldn't be too far fetched to have him be the person who enabled the witches to have the twins. This need not have to clash with Anakin's birth, as Tenebrous is more likely to have used technology to enable the twins' birth. Tenebrous had a particular view of the Force which was a little bit closer to the witches' concept of "the Thread". He was known to reject certain aspects of the traditional Sith mysticism, seeing the Force as a power to be used as a tool.
