Had a few issues with recharging my Air Condition on my Foxbody Mustang, but ultimately the fix was simple.

HI guys, I'll be celebrating my 41st birthday with the family tonight, so I will not be responding to comments until tomorrow most likely. Thanks to everyone that continues to support me and the channel. This community means a lot to me.
Happy Birthday
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Matt! Enjoy YOUR day, buddy.
Happy Birthday, bro!!
Hey Matt happy birthday to you good video Dr. Foxbody aka Matt is a human Chilton Foxbody repair manual he is amazing
Thanks you and I agree except I think he's even better than a Haynes or Chilton. He's probably more like a Ford Master Tech Bible 🤣
Man that’s exactly what happened when Matt helped me with my a/c, the connectors were not working, nice to have ac with the humidity climbing like it is. 👊🦊
Oh wow I remember him helping you Frank, but I didn't know that happened. Guess it's pretty common and yes I'm really enjoying have the A/C right now.
Happy BDay. Your working through problems helped a LOT more people than if it had gone easy. It gave Matt aka Dr. Fox a chance to share how to trouble shoot and that's worth its weight in gold or freon both are pretty much worth the same on a hot day.
Very true, and yeah I think you're right about that exchange rate buddy LOL
Happy 21st ! It’s the time of year where AC is a must !!
Only 20 years off DV, LMAO. Yes it is, thanks bud.
Thank you to both of you guys. Getting ready to do the same to my ‘92 GT. I learned that I now need to figure out how to get the PAG oil out of my system. Everything I researched said PAG and never saw anything about Ether. Hopefully it’s not too difficult and something I can do at home being I can’t drive the car yet. Appreciate all the guys like you in the Foxbody community for helping us with info and how-to’s like this.
Glad to hear it helped. Good luck!
Great video! Might just try to fix my 89 Lx's AC... no idea what's wrong with it but now I now know how to check!
Good luck!
Good video! I had to get my AC fixed before Chocolate Fox and it turned out to be the compressor. That wasn't cheap, but I wasn't driving 6 hours without AC. My vert gets really hot on the inside on a sunny day with the top up.
Good call, I made the trip up at night and it was a little cooler going back. I also think that the dark tint helps me a lot.
@@GearHead704 That was a smart move. Tint is a good idea. I know it help me when I had it on my '12 VW Golf.
Happy Birthday Matt, Glad you guys found the problems with A/C, it always good to have good working A/C.
The one best thing is your car was already converted to R134 which is way better than R12 ever did.
Thanks you so much for the bday wishes! Yeah mine being R134A already made it easier for sure.
Feel your pain man. I blew a air line on my big truck Monday just stopped by freightliner and picked new one up. Filled it up and its not blowing cold. Was working fine b4 line went out. I said blow but it actually had a hole rubbed in it. Talk about miserable try sleeping in a truck sleeper with no ac. I was in laredo Monday nite and it was 85 degrees over nite. I had three electric fans blowing on me and still sweating my butt off. Very frustrated right now I have loads lined up threw Friday so don't really have time to stop and put it in shop. Wish I was at least running the north this week instead of Texas. Haven't had time to watch all the car show vids yet but good job on the ones I have watched.
Oh man I"m sorry to hear that and couldn't even imagine trying to sleep in that hot weather, although I did grow up with A/C, but i'm spoiled now. Thanks for checking out the vids man and I hope the A/C gets fixed for you soon.
Tiffany been working hard mane
Yes she really has. I haven't filmed hardly any of it because it's very repetitive lol
Going to go try to get the Capri A/C working now.
I'm sure that will make Monica happier to drive it LOL
Thank you for the video, always appreciate the tutorials. Huge help.
Glad to hear it!
I went thru and replaced all washers with green ones on mine when I replaced the EVAP and condenser (during heater core replacement).
It blows cold...but honestly, mines a Ttop yours a vert.... Who really needs AC in our cars? And Happy Birthday, to the bday boy
Thanks for the bday wishes, and yeah we really don't need them do we? Summer is good actually because you can drive them at night when it's cool with the tops off/down.
@@GearHead704 I guess that "it works" is what's important. Yes, night drives are the BEST!
Happy Birthday Matt... Good thing you have the SSP cuz tar heel fox doesn't have much left to work on 👍
Thanks man! Yeah she's pretty close, but as you know a lot more to do on the coupe. Sigh.
I'm dealing with AC issues on the Nova. It's never ending 🤦♂️
That sucks man, but you'll get it figured out.
@@GearHead704 fo sho bro!
Lol I just had that happen to me on my ‘89. My new low side adapter had a black seal in it blocking any Freon from entering the system but showing high on the gauge.
Oh man, that sucks, but I'm glad you tracked it down. Crazy how we had similar issues.
Thank you very much for this ! Very very helpful!!!! Thank you both!
Glad it was helpful!
I haven’t had ac in some time man it’s been hot , definitely can’t take this heat during these hot car shows
Yes and it's brutal this year
Happy birthday 🎂 dude!!
Really appreciate it.
Gonna try charging mine up this week. It's been hotter than the devil's ass crack up here in Maryland. Great vid! 🔥 😈 😆
Good luck man, definitely good to stay cool and thanks!
Do you remember where you got the new r134 adapter fittings? I had one that was working but the hi side adapter oring blew out...went and got another set from Adv Auto that's not letting any gas by (its oring is squeezing inward and sealing to the push pin on my gauge hose end)
Happy birthday Matt! I enjoyed watching your informative video on how to prepare and fix the a/c system. Where did you buy the fittings and o-rings? Also, where do you recommend buying a new a/c condenser? Thanks!
I recommend Rock Auto. We have put together 3 cars with parts from them. You can get 4 seasons stuff.
Thanks for the bday wishes, I had a great one! I just bought mine at Oreily's they were fairly cheap.
Happy Birthday. Nice video
Thank you 🤗
Good stuff man !!
Thank you.
Good info great video 😎
Thanks 👍
Happy Birthday🎉
Thank you!
Nice! I'm Going to need A/C fixed on my white car! Does Matt do that for the public?
Hey Frank I don't think so, but I know you're local, so give him a call unless you're coming to the swap meet then you might be able to ask him in person.
@@GearHead704 ok! When is the swap meet?
Man I had that same problem
Hopefully it was an easy fix for you
Everything came out great. Love the videos sir. Great job. Beautiful Mustang
Gotta recharge my AC as well.😒
It makes me very very happy LOL
Wish I had a "Matt" when working on my car :(
Super helpful for sure. I'll try and put out more videos like this to do my best to get Matt to the masses.
Any idea what the torque value is for the low side 1" ac compressor nut? I replaced my compressor and accumulator/hose, and it worked for awhile but I think the nut that connects to the compressor worked itself loose and it leaked there. How many threads are still showing at the low side compressor fitting on yours? That will help a lot.
Sorry I'm not sure.
What bolts are you using as fender bolts?
I'm use the Certbinators bolt kit. You can find them on cerbinatorautodesigns.com
when running the A/c is it normal for the drier to have condensation which drips down to the header causing smoke?
Yes at least normal for me
Is the compressor supposed to cycle on and off or is it supposed to stay on constantly? Mine is staying on.
On and off. Should turn off under WOT
@@GearHead704 thanks you sir i appreciate the reply
What size is the quick disconnect on AC lines?
I don't remember, I got the standard kit from the autoparts store that includes 5 of them and just try each one until it fits.
Will do!@@GearHead704
Is there an orfice tube on a fox car?
Not sure what you mean by that.
I was under the impression all a/c sytems have an orfice tube some where in the system.
Are you using all of the original R-12 (factory) components? I thought the compressor and other parts had to be upgraded for use with R-134 freon?
My system was converted to R134a about 10 years ago already. I don't remember all the parts that were changed. Maybe we'll do a video on it in the future.
@@GearHead704 It would be very helpful. Got to stay cool!
Hey, I still have the original R 12 system in my car with the original fittings, what is the adapter that you need for the high side in order to hook it to the gauges? The friend I had who helped me with mine had the adapter and it also had a shut off valve on it but I don’t know what the adapter was and I need to pick up one.
The fittings I got from OReilys were part numbers MR 59978, but mine was converted to R134a more than 10 years ago, so I don't know what those parts were unfortuatnely.
@@GearHead704 Might be a long shot after 2 years, however do you recall the part # for the low side adapter?
Looks like Matt needs a new set of gauges.
Yup for sure.
Funny, but not funny. I rebuilt A/C system and also had bad adapter fitting and had to replace them on my 87vert
That sucks, but as you can see it definitely happens.
first
Damn, love that green man.
Nice going Matt!
Calling refrigerant ‘Freon’ is the same as calling nitrous oxide ‘NOS’.
I'm pretty sure that's all the call it in Fast and the Furious. NOS. So I guess we are tracking well by that logic LOL
Haha yep it fit the theme of the video very well
