It reminds me of his character in the pilot, "The Cage." Nimoy said they hadn't settled on Spock's logical character then, and that since Hunter was "low energy" he felt his performance needed to be more dynamic. But I like to think Spock was more relaxed among Pike's crew and became more serious or controlled after that crew disbanded, leaving Spock behind.

How thoughtful and respectful of McCoy to dismiss nurse Chapel knowing her affection for Spock AND knowing Spock's need for privacy about the whole thing. Nice touch!
I don’t know if it was McCoy’s respect for Spock’s need for privacy or his desire to not be seen by his subordinate as acting like a d¡ck for ridiculing Spock about his emotions.
I've always loved McCoy's serious facial expressions when he confronts spock as if he has genuine hate for him for a decision he's made ..... But you know deep inside he admires and respects him.... But it is also makes these 2 unintentionally comical at the same time 🤣
It's a wonder that he wasn't laughing his ass off instead of going back into Vulcan Mode almost on a dime that they would have Had to do several takes before getting it right. I've tried to see if I could do that myself and never could. I always ended up laughing my ass off and tears in my eyes at the same time. Have to be a Vulcan, I guess. Spock And McCoy are the Odd Couple with outer space as the setting. They often spar with one another, seemingly having incompatible personalities. But, under the surface they deeply care for each other. Just like two brothers.

Excellent, superb, memorable. All the elements: Drama, action, some suspense, grief, heartbreak and then comedy. Artistic license used skillfully and masterfully. In many of the episodes of Star Trek; you are given a well written, directed and acted hour of struggle and drama used to save the galaxy. Three men, often more, use their resourcefulness, talent, courage, intelligence and futuristic technology. Terrible sacrifice is often involved, sometimes tears . . The novel "Spock's World" is one of the best portrayals of Vulcan and Vulcans I've ever seen, and T'Pau figures prominently. They never come out and say it, but I always assumed that T'Pau was Sarek's aunt or grandmother. I don't think the novel is considered canon, but it is excellent.
2:45: Spock should have said he was still suffering some aftereffects and simply didn't remember having such an emotional reaction of happiness or why :p :p :p I love Jim at 2:49
I think it's probably because he is half human so an extreme emotion, in this case grief or horror with what he did, can pull him out of the life or death libido thing. From his description it sounds like Spock isn't entirely sure why it dissipated so it might be a result of his mixed biology he hadn't considered.
