Ok, this comments section is really a piece of work ! First, they're not playing "out of tune", they're playing in a lower tuning and thus a lower key. Yes, it's the DJ playing a sample of the clean guitar part in the beginning and middle of the song (in addition to other samples you can barely hear because of terrible mixing) and his screams aren't lip synced, they're whispered with an electronic effect on top.
Ed Sloan is a great songwriter, the lyrics and music are so honest, the bridge is the best part and most emotional! We can accept the band doesn't sound as the record but they are so powerful playing! Every chord is explosive!
I also came here to see how to play the beginning riff (electric) since everyone tabs it for a 6-string. Man...after watching live versions of this song I see why crossfade faded. Whoever mixed this song in the studio deserves a raise!
Dude, I literally got the vibe on Crossfade and This is how They repay me a visit as far I'm concerned There's no one left who can stop me for playing this fucking song over and over and over again? 🤟🤪🤘
I love it, it's live. The gimmicky electronics can go, because they don't need it. Ed Sloan is a vocal beast, but he has nervous energy and he is trying to do too much. These guys rock! Colors, Cold, So Far Away...good shit!
@@leocasi405 I remember when I was little hearing this whole album play and remember the cover of the cd mannn that album is golden! I still play their old stuff like its new, miss the old days... just wish I could have seen them live 😪 😕
@SOADfan2011 I think he's sampling rhythm guitar parts to the song, it's just blending in with the rest of the music. In the beginning you can see Ed (lead singer) isn't playing guitar, and the sampler brings the clean guitar in
He uses Marshall amps, i'm not sure what type. For his pickups he just uses the Schecter C-7 Blackjack stock pickups thats the equipment that he uses I dunno bout distortion pedals lol but man he sure has a awesome sound with his 7-String =P
@mobman47 its not wrong they play offtune cause they down tuned their guitards so it is easier to sing for him live its a common thing bands do (expecially coverbands)
damn are these guys good. love the music, and the guys put on a great and i mean great show. hope success continues to follow these guys and look forward to seeing them in concert for my second time as soon as possible.
if they would release a damn album already they'd be the best band in the world. i love them so much. ed sloan is amazing. theyre without a label which sucks fucking ass but they're recording now.
He sounds awful live. His vocals on the album are fantastic but they're a product of studio magic, perhaps the finest touch up job of it's time. He can't replicate that sound live. The album version is not how he actually sounds.
@SuperGuitarMark yeah there's no way to play that on keyboard... he's doing great on the heavy parts for sure. but i always find it lame if they skip parts live- and that would even be ok if theyd cut out the playback then....
They're a very "produced" band in the studio. It's not a bad thing but definitely makes for an almost completely different sounding band when they play live.
@@zblackwell6260 You put it lightly. Crossfade's self-titled is a fantastically produced album, boasting the crispest and most well measured sound of it's era. Unfortunately Ed's vocals on the album are a product of studio magic and he can't replicate it live.
idk why yall think this is bad. one of the best performances by them is on kimmel and here. also if youve never been in a band and tried promoting shows then playing a venue you have no reason to say anything at all. way harder than it looks. the only thing i can say is the fucking screamer sounds horrible but its autotune type of deal he cant actually do the screams....
@@yeomane to some extent. Being able to select the best takes is the most important part in this context imo. Also, he is often literally screaming/yelling which can't be consistently and dependably done by most people.
@larrythelionmusic Yeah. They're pushing the vocals a bit hard. If you can't hear that....idk, but gimme some of that good shit you're smoking😂. I could be critical of much more, but, it's hard to sing, play and keep seperate melodies, so.....
he can't sing these songs live anymore, the ranges for his songs that he created are mixed with screams and real high vocal ends hard to keep this up live, can only hold the title for so long, his vocals are damaged, he could one day totally loose his vocals completely.

Sometimes I use a 7 String and it takes a special soundman to put it right in the mix.
crossfade literally got me through the worst break up of my life.
I miss this band so much!
Mine in hs as well, crazy times.

Being there in person is different than any camera or post recording mix could be. Blessed to have seen them a couple few times in their heyday.

I bought the tab book to their debut album I could send you pics through email if you wanted I know it's been a few months since you commented haha
Mike ShallowSun bro if you could send me those I'd sing at your wedding I swear email is darioriversmusic@gmail.com
The lead singer did all the mixing and mastering of the first album... not to mention most of the instruments
Dario Rivers bro did he send you the pictures? Can you send them to me pls??? helomusicofficial@gmail.com
I know I’m 5 years late but I pulled out my ps2 and played this atv game and was wondering if you still have this if you’re even on this same email
One of the best Rock Band for me 😳😍❤️ Ed Sloan and his bandmate
he definitly sounds different live but that doesnt change how much i love crossfade and their music!
It's not him that's different. It's the lower key they play the songs live in.
Everyday I hear this version to wake up, this song helped me get through dark times

I so love you guys. this song has been my ring tone forever
i love there unpluged sets. these guys are fantastic live and in studio
Caramba...Eu conheci crossfade na época das lan house em 2007,2008,por aí...2010 comprei meu primeiro pc e lembro de assistir esse video...O tempo voa
why doesnt fuse play music like this anymore :(
This band is perferct ! The best band for me.

I fucking love this song. it has kept me alive and I appreciate Ed
I dedicate this song to my ex ! How good it feels to be far away . I’ve been saved… ✝️♥️
2022 , aun siguen vigentes los temas de crossfade
Better than studio version, insane
I love how the dude lip syncs the screaming parts. >.
Actually he distorts the mic n just whispers, he doesn't really scream in the real mix as well..
I think its the same thing morgan rose does, though honestly I've been fairly certain all his "screams " live are tracked.
Missing tony:(( anybody here know he's social media???
I don't hear where they're offtune? sounds fine to me. Much better that I'd expect from a mainstream band in general.
Sounds so good

the song cold

You haven't been to many concerts, I guess.
Different from the track off the album but good :)
feels more like an unplugged but with heavy instrumentals
They actually sound totally different. CrossFade is more "Heavy" while Sick Puppies are more "modern rock".
Both bands are badass tho.
@JoshBaumgardner That makes a lot of sense, thanks man
wish i was there....

the keyboarder's voice is hardcore
zaraki93 because when he screams he has an effect making it sound better
which it doesn't sound good at all lol
It's Ed recorded, that dude can't scream.
I don't know why but I hate the studio recording of the song, but love every live performance of it.
Interesting 🤷♂️
I think the screaming makes it better. The studio version doesn’t have the screams
@SOADfan2011 yeah no problem man
I personally think he sounds better live than on the cd. He sounds different live, but I think it's better this way.

......mixing.
Dramatic, yes, but sadly he's right. That's what happened to Brett Scallions.
.... cause he is the singer of chimaira... :D that was joke :D
the guitarplayer didnt play the clean part at 2:10 oO too bad...
I feel like the drummer was off
Is there a fcking video where i could see the chords properly jesus
the verse seems a lil slow....
Not Sloans best, but it's live, and maybe the nerves got to him. But, this is a great song.
I understand it's hard to sing live sometimes but the production value on this video is absolutely horrifying
