- In this video i have explained the basic biochemical function of glutathione. Glutathione is considered as "mother of all antioxidants' it is involved in neutralizing reactive oxygen species and detoxification. Glutathione levels depends on the normal levels of cysteine and methionine.

Thankyou sir! Very helpful and easily explained
Dr mungli,Dr Umesh here, associate professor surgery.u have out of world knowledge.
Thank you Dr Umesh. I'm glad you liked this video.
@@DrMungli I completed my ms in 2004 .I am associate professor of surgery.i practically never had biochemistry knowledge.but listening to ur lecture I understand lots of biochemistry.and now I tell my ug students to have good knowledge of biochemistry to become good doctor.ur knowledge is better than many MD.
Thank you encouraging your medical students to give importance to basic science subjects to have good foundation for medicine and surgery courses ahead.
simply outstanding
Thank you 🙏
Plse make a video on gamma glutamyl cycle
Wonderful video sir. You are making it so simple
Great, I'm glad
Very breif,detailed n nice xplanation.thanks a lot....
You are most welcome.
Thank you 😊 💓 ☺ 💗 💛 💖 doctor for your help
sir have you made any vedio about asada halliwell pathway. if not then please make. Thanks
A brief nd informative lecture 👌😊
Glad you liked it
Sir kindly clarify my doubt ... In the phase 2 reactions sulphates produced are negatively charged.... But the filtration barrier is also negatively charged...won't they get repelled? I'm sorry if my question is wrong... Please crt it!
Exactly. Even I have the same doubt.
Does it lighten skin?
Sir about cytochrome p450 video pls sir
Sure I will make one
Damn.... U r nothing just awesome sir ❤. Love u from Bharat.
Can cysteine, glutamine, glycine and sulfur be taken all at once?
Thank you for your nice video. I Hava a question sir. Does Glutathion affect to COX mechanism? What do you think about that patients with low platelets take supplement of glutathione? Does it helpful? or increase bleeding risk?
thank you sir this video help us a a lot
What if you have a genetic polymorphism that prevents you from making sufficient glutathione? I have the GSTP1 A/A genotype and I don't know what to do
EXCELLENT EXPLANATION!
Glad it was helpful!
What about the step from glutathione to metallothionein I believe that is also a enzyme requiring selenium
Though the purpose of this video was to explain role of glutathione, but answering to your question selenium is needed not only for glutathione peroxidase but it is also needed for thioredoxin reductase, iodothyronine deiodinase, it is part of selenocysteine, selenomethionine. Synthesis of metallothionines depends on several metal ions including selenium but I'm not quite sure which exact enzyme is involved in the synthesis of metallothione needs selenium. If you come across a specific answer please let me know. it would be a good point to add to my list.
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. If glutathione is not keeping up with detoxification do you think it would be more likely a selenium deficiency a deficiency of the pentose phosphate pathway a deficiency of conversion to a metallic dining or a lack of sulphur
Metallic dining should be metallothionein
That could be possible.
Sir, great explanation! I just wonder about reaction between glutathione and haloacetonitriles. It’s also related to my research. Could you make some info regarding this two molecules where I can really go deep of their reaction kinetic. Thank you!
Well this didn't work lol
