Glutathione Biochemical Function and Sources

In this video i have explained the basic biochemical function of glutathione. Glutathione is considered as "mother of all antioxidants' it is involved in neutralizing reactive oxygen species and detoxification. Glutathione levels depends on the normal levels of cysteine and methionine.

What about the step from glutathione to metallothionein I believe that is also a enzyme requiring selenium

Though the purpose of this video was to explain role of glutathione, but answering to your question selenium is needed not only for glutathione peroxidase but it is also needed for thioredoxin reductase, iodothyronine deiodinase, it is part of selenocysteine, selenomethionine. Synthesis of metallothionines depends on several metal ions including selenium but I'm not quite sure which exact enzyme is involved in the synthesis of metallothione needs selenium. If you come across a specific answer please let me know. it would be a good point to add to my list.
