Nice explanation overall. The version you are demonstrating is the HD which is $350. Remember this is a one time buy for a permanent license. This gives you a lot of bang for the buck. The HD version allows you can to have 1000 inputs any of which can be camera / computer inputs. There are also 4 overlays available. Possible uses for overlays would be to do a picture in a picture to display to add in lyrics, scriptures, slide presentations, names for speakers, titles of the message ... At our church we regularly use 2 to three overlays. The $60 version is called the Basic HD which only allows for 3 camera / computer inputs, 4 inputs total and only 1 overlay. We initially tried this version but after I down loaded the trial HD version to learn on at home we quickly upgraded to and only had to pay the difference of $290.
This was a big help - thank you! We’re a very small church in SE Pennsylvania, and I’m an old fella, not a young pup. So tech, even things which appear as seemingly simple as you made it look here, are a big challenge for me. Until the Lord sends us some young people (who are better at this stuff than old geezers like me), I’m the nervous old man trying to keep this thing going. Lord help me!
Wow Brandon thanks a lot you've really made my day but I'm sure you know that some are seriously in the University studying this for 4 years or more but you just taught this in a matter of 25 minutes Genius
You can set some overlay presets as well... So if you wanted overlay 2 (the lower thirds presets) to fade in then automatically fade out after 10 seconds... Just click the overlay settings button (lower right corner) and set the parameters for the overlay channel. Also, the hotkeys you can set is unlimited to assist in making tasks easier... Or invest in a Delgado streak deck to assign hot buttons to specific functions. I love vmix. Between using it off and on since 2014...but this year I've been doing lots more live event streaming, and I'm always learning lots about vmix! Great choice! Keep it up.
@@BrandonSWood You're welcome. VMix has worked hard, not only providing a very high quality and flexible product, but also building in tools to customize and optimize your workflow. I will be purchasing a Streamdeck very shortly, I think.
Thanks Annette. This is the video that I recommend for lower thirds instruction, if you happen to be using ProPresenter. Although they are using OBS to stream, the general instructions are fairly easy to apply to Vmix. ua-cam.com/video/XRxOKMkCcoY/v-deo.html
Great Video, you have a teaching spirit, I love it. May God Bless you real good in Jesus' Mighty NAME Amen!... May you and your church family make heaven when Jesus comes in Jesus' Mighty NAME Amen. really love the video, please do more.
Hi Sir. Thanks for the clear introduction. Wondering how you can bring in songs from NDI and get it as lower third or most importantly SCRIPTURES. Thank you
Hi Ray, we don't actually sent our stage display to vMix since it is only intended for those on the stage to see. However, you should be able to choose via ProPresenter and your switcher what you would like to send to your livestream audience. We use the Blackmagic 4/ME as our switcher.
Good evening sir Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial. My question is the Vmix call is it only for people who uses vmix will or connect to the call?
You failed to mention that you have to setup the links between vMix and the service you are streaming to, (UA-cam, Facebook ...), before you can turn on the livestream.
God bless. I would like that this video has the topic youtube opción so I could go and rewatch the exact topic I want. I don’t know if that is posible. Could be useful
Very informative & helpful, in many ways more so than the company's own tutorials. I'm curious which license do you have, ours limits the overlays to 2 or 3 I think; and the Pro license is $1200 which is prohibitively high for us.
Hi Kareza. For this video, I was still using the full version in trial mode. Budget was tight for us as well, so the $350 version is what we ended up purchasing. I have to say that because we rarely would use more than one overlay at a time, it fits our needs perfectly. However, we may upgrade to the $700 version in the future to gain the ability to import PSDs.
Hi, we have been using vMix for a couple of months, bought the basic plan. Love it. The only issue we have is the video stream freezing, audio continues. We just right click reset, but it is pretty annoying. Have you had this issue? If so, what was your solution? Thank you for this video!
We have not had that issue, but as someone who has worked with PCs for many years, that sounds like a possible bandwidth problem. We are in a fairly rural area with terrible residential grade internet and have had to pay several thousand dollars per year for ATT to upgrade our service to dedicated fiber at a fixed 20mpbs. I understand that is not always an option, but on what you have, an ethernet connection is a must (no wifi streaming). Also make sure that you limit the number of devices and people using your bandwidth during service times. In addition, on your computer, make sure you are only running vmix if at all possible (no browsers or other background programs running). Hope this helps!
@@BrandonSWood Thank you Brandon. Our upload speed seems to be OK around 20mpbs if not higher at times. May try to run a speed test when it happens to see if there is a fluctuation. We do have it set up via ethernet. Thanks for you help!
Most of our freeze up issues during live stream of mass are due to older web cams that we used initially or cables/adapters to get the signal into the computer. ALSO: ALWAYS use USB 3.0 connections.
We just recently built a new pc just for livestream and video editing. If your computer system is marginally compatible with vmix you WILL have streaming issues. We do multiple streams.
Jeffrey, I have had subscriptions with all of these and recommend them all: www.churchmotiongraphics.com/ shiftworship.com/ www.motionworship.com/ centerlinenewmedia.com/
Thank you very much, please my church doesn’t use camera but we use phones to go live and record but we have trouble with the videos, they are always lagging can u help me so our video stop lagging
We use a Blackmagic WebPresenter (which connects to PC / MAC via USB). This brings the audio and video together into Vmix from our video switcher and sound board. There are a variety of options.
Hi So I'm on the sound team at Mt Zion, going to do Easter in the parking lot, 1st do you recommend pro presenter, I am considering getting it for the church. And second do you find vmix augments propresenter. I am going to attempt to use vmix for the Easter service outdoor with a video capture device. But from your video seems its something we should have along side a program like propresenter
I highly recommend pro presenter 7. Although there is other presentation (even free) software to do the job, in my opinion, none that I have personally tried comes close to Pro7. Your second question depends on if you need vmix for livestreaming purposes for the long haul. If you are just wanting to use it for a service every now and then (such as only livestreaming a special Easter service) , I might use a free alternative like OBS, since Vmix is a fairly significant investment. I might add the Pro Presenter 7 has added streaming capabilities since I created this video. However, I have stuck with Vmix to limit computer processing power on my presentation Mac and because I like the additional features Vmix has to offer.
I use Vmix for my church livestream and we only have one camera and the easy worship for scriptures and lyrics. Unfortunately when an input freezes, either camera or lyrics, we can reset it without ending and restarting the entire stream but I don't remember how to. I had to end today. Please how do I reset any frozen input if I don't want to end and restart please? Thanks

Hi Jeremy, Propresenter 7 now has its own ability to stream although we use vMix instead. If you're wanting to import lyrics slides as lower thirds (the bottom of your screen) it's pretty easy to do that by importing an NDI stream. Please see this video which features OBS instead of vMix, but instructions are very similar: ua-cam.com/video/XRxOKMkCcoY/v-deo.html
Vmix generally opens for me in its previously used state, however, on the occasion when it doesn't, you can click the "last" button on the top toolbar to restore the last configuration.
this tutorial is really helpful, but... all of this... for churches? Seriously??? Your churches have this kind of budget, and most importantly audience for a production that requires this much...i mean...i work in live video productions in Italy, mostly for corporate and institutional clients, and to think that americans have a hole worship industry is really bananas to me. I sincerely do not get it. Great tutorial video though
Mario, thanks for your reply and your kind words about the tutorial. Personally, I'm not remotely interested in worship as an industry but the proliferation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is our mandate as Christians. That there is such an industry is another topic for another day. However, I don't believe my video had a specific focus on worship ministry, but the ability to stream a church service live to those who can't attend for whatever reason. Our budget is far smaller than you might think and we have a small production crew, but we believe it's Biblical to be excellent with what resources we have (our Biblical "talents" so to speak) to make use of modern technology to reach people and places we couldn't just a couple of years ago. Why not? Blessings.

M doesn’t stand for Mute. It sends that input to Master. The speaker symbol above it is the mute. And S is for Solo to your headphones.
