Dundee got their revenge 6 years later , when captained by ex-Celt , Tommy Gemmell , they defeated Celtic 1- 0 in the the 1973 League Cup Final at Hampden Park , on a bleak , miserable , rain and sleet drenched day . I know , because I was there supporting Celtic .

Me too . Most of the Celtic support was in the Rangers end that day . Just as well - it was one miserable day , more ways than one . It was a 1 o'clock kick off because of the power cuts . I'm sure there was only around 30,000 fans . The match should never have been played .

@@ThefightingCelt We lost about 5 League Cups in a row. Very overlooked stat in Celtic's history is the most consecutive final appearances in a major competition. We had 14 League Cup finals in a row. 3 clubs have 11 finals in a row, none are from Europe.

Thousands of Dark Blues were advised against going through to Glasgow because of the conditions. I know, because I was one of them.
