A fully home grown team from Scotland who were all born 15 miles away from Celtic park going to Lisbon against that brilliant Inter Milan team who won the competition 2 times back to back in 64 and 65 and beating them this will never be done again. RIP Jock Stein you absolute fucking genius
This has to go down as probably the greatest achievement from a club based in the British isles. This Celtic team was magnificent, incredible that they were all born in Glasgow, apart from the foreigner Bobby Lennox. I love the story of the Lisbon lions, led brilliantly by Billy McNeill, who briefly managed my beloved MCFC in the mid 1980’s, hugely respected in Manchester. Not many left now sadly. RIP to all the departed lions.
I looked up Billy McNeill and see he managed City for three years. It's funny how what we consider a brief stint back then is practically a long and storied tenure by today's standards.
@@MarkQuinn2k7 yes you’re right there, different times that’s for sure. Billy was manager when we gained promotion back to the 1st Division back in 1985. I was there, the last game of the season against Charlton in front of a packed 47-000 Maine Road crowd, there’s footage of that game on here, and although the greatness I’ve witnessed the last decade or so, that game still remains one of my best memories. Billy did a great job with really limited resources, a million miles from the status of our club today. It’s hard to think of a more respected man in football. RIP Billy.
@@FalseTeeth-o4y maybe a easy route to the final, but to say Celtic hot “lucky” in the final is really pathetic. @@RafsanS15 what is ritiri ?
That’s really like inter vs barça of 60’s. Inter was best at defending and celtic was at offensive.
I was only 8 years old then i remember running down the close and oot the back with my ball, everyone came out and we went down the pitch. Now when I look back it brings a tear to my eyes of happiness they day's wear the best. HH.

Best team ever to come out off uk at that time Scottish football was good rangers were top class back then as well just lost to Bayern week before in final that’s what people forget
To come out of scotland maybe
Think it was week later on Wednesday mate!
@@richardconte3837No, to come out of Europe, hence this game, I mean the clue is in the title, best team in Europe at that time.
Correct, but we didn't have Luis Suarez on the pitch and that made a lot of difference. Having said that, credit to Celtic
Great match, this is the great Celtic my father referred to. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Wow what amazing quality video 🤩 great find!
I was nine when Billy McNeill lifted that famous European cup 65 now and as a life long Celtic supporter I still dream about it every day HH💚🍀🇮🇪

Congratulations Celtic! Scotland’s football is pure passion!!!
New Zealander here, I love all sports but there’s no club that means more to me than Celtic
What a great footage. I'm not sure if there is any other in color. 1967💚ucl final
It's been a long time since my Celtic won the Champions League, that 66-67 season was Celtic Glasgow's best, we won the quadruple, Celtic are great. Hoop forever.
All but 2 or three of that celtic lisbon lion team were from glasgow the most important thing is they were all SCOTTISH!! I was 5 yrs old and i with my da went tay parkhead and in an 3 ton army vehicle they drove round the ground showing the BIG CUP to the fans i shant forget it ever and im an old guy now at 62!! mon the hoops forever more
Only 1 player Bobby Lennox was born outside Glasgow, and that was only 30 miles from Glasgow where he was born! 🍀🇮🇪🏴🍀👍🏻
The finest achievement of all, every player born within 30 miles of Glasgow, 1st Northern European Team to win, and they Won the league, league cup, Scottish cup, European cup, and the old Glasgow cup, 5 Cups in the 1 year, never be done again, God Bless the Lisbon Lions! 🍀🏴🇮🇪🍀
I notice you didn't list who you had to beat in order to achieve this. Clubs like Dukla Prague, Airedrieonians, Falkirk, Nantes, Dunfermline, Stirling Albion, Clyde, Arbroath, Elgin City, Queens Park, Vojvodina etc. It doesn't sound so impressive now, does it?
Irrelevant Ffs!! 😂😆🤣🍀🏴🇮🇪🍀
@@FalseTeeth-o4y Hows your team's bank balance, still paying aff yer debt, never know you might win the Europa league? 🤣
@@rambojp73 Why is it irrelevant? Your entire trophy cabinet has been acquired by beating pub sides apart from that one game in 1967.
Who won the exhibition cup and the Coronation Cup, 2 tournaments of Britain's best, 4 English and 4 Scottish, guess who won the 2?
The same team who got a standing ovation from the Real Madrid fans at Di Stefanos testimonial game in Madrid. This team is the most underrated team in history. They were fantastic. How much would they be worth now in the transfer market?
I'm amazed at the level of Celtic then. They completely squashed Inter! And with good football, and some intelligent play. Many Scottish teams couldn't muster that kind of cleverness level - even today
watched liked.thanks super video.baku
Is the Celtic 67 team the most underrated football team of all time? They won the quintiple. That puts the treble to shame

Would like the full game like this,, Cheers mate
As the great Scottish journalist Hugh McIlvanney put it, Glasgow Celtic won the European Cup with a Glasgow & District select. It's not like that now, of course, never will be again, but it was truly special.
A fully home grown team from Scotland who were all born 15 miles away from Celtic park going to Lisbon against that brilliant Inter Milan team who won the competition 2 times back to back in 64 and 65 and beating them this will never be done again. RIP Jock Stein you absolute fucking genius
Bir an için catenacio’cu İtalyanlar kazanacak diye ödüm koptu.
RIP Billy.
Zurich, Nantes, Vojvodina and Dukla Prague to reach the final, It was a piss easy ride. All you had to do was get lucky in the final and you did. 🤣
@@FalseTeeth-o4y maybe a easy route to the final, but to say Celtic hot “lucky” in the final is really pathetic. They completely outplayed a great Inter team, and were massively worthy winners. 2-1 flattered them, even their captain Mazzola said they massively under estimated Celtic and as a result deserved to lose. The Lisbon lions will go down amongst the greatest of club sides from these isles.

Great final!
That was 57 yrs ago. These days they can't even get out of the group stage. Embarrassing.
Thank you Celtic
Fair play to the Inter keeper - great performance.
57 years later, this is still the only side in the world to win the true Quadruple of top flight domestic league, primary domestic cup, league cup/secondary major domestic cup, and primary continental championship all in the same season. The feat has been possible at one time or another in 97 countries and is still possible in 48 countries. 1989-90 Yokohama F. Marinos and 2019-20 PSG came closest to joining the Lisbon Lions, each completing the domestic treble before losing in their respective continental championship final.

This comment is probably the first time anyone has ever mentioned the outstanding performance of the Inter 'keeper.
Celtic could/should have won that game about 8-1. Totally dominant outclassed and outfought the Italians. 2-1 makes it look like a hard fought close game. Great achievement all the same.
Ahora 6ta. Final de #UCL, AÑO 2023 💙🖤💙
Da allora non più Inter.Ed,in più, mi del calcio.
The Inter keeper had a great game!
The greatest day in the history of the greatest football club in the world.
How are they the greatest football club in the world?
As Bill Shankly said after this, 'Jock, you're immortal now'
Same year, there were many scottish players in the first division.
Leeds united….⚡️⚡️⚡️
And a year later, in 1968, Celtic lost in the 1st round to Dinamo Kiev: 1:2 at home and 1:1 in Kiev.
Kiev were the top club in the Soviet Union (a quarter of the world's area back then) . Hardly a disgrace for 11 Scots born within 30 miles.
Blimey! Hadn't realized just how far Celtic was all over Inter Milan that day. Scoreline could easily have been 8-1 to Celtic! Inter Milan was totally outclassed.
Ah! The old 'could have and should have.' Celtic are the world's best 'should have and could have' club.
Tommy gemmell goal at 3:35 ; goosebumps
Brilliant football from Celtic.
4:42 deliberate kick on the Celtic keeper by the Italian player - who then decides to feign agony himself to get off the hook
Watching the highlights there's clearly a man of the match, and he's not from Celtic. It's the inter goalkeeper
Grandi. Grandissimi. Grande Celtic 🍀💚
AS a Rangers fans,, this celtic is the best, beat mighty inter and be the first win champions League with new trophy design ..
In the heat of Lisbon...
celtic players played without numbers..
They used numbers on their shorts then.
Hahaha
I was nearly 16 when we won that magnificent cup,my late fathers cousin, John Fallon was sub goalie.Eleven working class Scots thrashed the Italian mighty millionaires 2-1😊 Hail Hail
Inter missed three fondamental players.
Today isn't so fondamental because every graat team have a great bancher but in that years also only one player can be most for to ro to lose a match.

The best Celtic of ever!
