I remember seeing a Vulcan at the Chicago Air & Water Show one year. It was not the best of conditions, cloudy with a low ceiling, but what an impressive demonstration by the RAF pilots. They did a few dutchman rolls toward the end of their show and then when the aircraft was center stage put it on its tail using full afterburner to climb straight up into the clouds. The sound was amazing and that show is something I'll remember for the rest of my life.
The de Havilland Mosquito and the Avro Vulcan are my two favourite aircraft of all time. I’ve seen the real XH558 fly when she was still in service and it was wonderful to watch this magnificent model of her fly, keeping the memory of these amazing aircraft alive! Kudos to you sir for this wonderfully beautiful piece of machinery!!!
Remembering the ground shaking and that wonderful roar as the Vulcan pulled up at Thurleigh Beds in the 1950's. There was little me on the ground simply awestruck! What a love we have for those fantastic engineering days, and our achievements. Literally groundbreaking.
I worked on this jet ... the 1:1 version though The air display the Vulcan could do was incredible, straight up it could race a Lightening to 25,000 ft and win ..One pilot, probably more than one, did a barrel roll in a Vulcan. I have seen one land with the top of a fir tree caught in undercarriage seal. An amazing aircraft. Thank you for keeping the memory alive
It was so powerful it could do an inverted take off saw with my very own eyes best plane ever built, another great concord is it's son just stretched it out a tad same wing and they tested Concorde engines with it boulted them on to this plane first
Theresnobody Here Testing? Really? I might have to go back and check my history books lol. I always thought that the engines on Concorde were heavily developed and super-modified versions of the Rolls Royce/ Olympus engine with a Snecma reheat and exhaust, originally used on the Vulcan? ( The 593 ) Back in 1966, they did strap one of the newer Concorde engine to a Vulcan but it could only be throttled to a fraction of its full power limiting it to just Mach 0.98.
That short sprint before takeoff means it's got an incredible thrust to weight ratio .Thanks for giving us superb perspectives with multiple onboard cams .That huge delta wing is causing the aircraft to perceptibly float and shift because of its lower weight . Otherwise a really glorious reproduction of an extinct giant and a great experience for all those people who didn't a chance to see the original Vulcan . Great flying skill .
THIS IS INCREDIBLE TO WATCH A *VULCAN* FLY I'm watching our Vulcan fly again. wooow.. very moving indeed. what an incredible tribute to those birds.. you really are seeing one up there an't ya .. Folks I salute you.. the weight, I believe is around 200 pounds the torque is incredible. yep that beautiful delta becomes a kite , again shows fantastic skills from the pilot to keep that BIRD calm.. and she doesn't want to come back down to touchdown , does she, nope that BIRD was made to fly.. and I'm taking it, that the Jet sounds are actually from the craft itself??!! I'm sure you know that the Vulcans main caricature Howl, comes from the exact principles as the noise created, from simply "blowing" across the rim top of a glass bottle, eg -"milk bottle"... until you get that "note" that's... the very same Vulcan howl. crazy hay.. we've all done it at sometime, well your making your very own Vulcan HOWWWWLL. it's just the air being draw/ sucked into and also mainly the noise from the air "crossing" ""blowing"" over the Engines air intake rims ... that created one of the most Incredible sounds an aircraft has ever achieved. go get a glass bottle, and do it now!! you'll immediately recognise that Vulcan howlllll. 😚💨🍶 and you won't stop ever doing it .. nowwwwwwlll 🤣🤣🤣😃😃🤪😜🤩😆🖖🖖🖖🖖👍👍👍👍 really great thanks 😊👍 your skills behind the controls and this channel are 1st class and your RC folks are too..
Arguably one of the best large RC model aircraft videos on UA-cam. The multiple camera footage from the cameras on the aircraft was amazing. My god I hope you get hundreds of millions of views with this effort. Anyway if it ever crashes you will have it covered with all those cameras.
It is just so fabulous how the size of this aircraft allows for superior on board camera coverage. I actually think it is more thrilling than watching from below.
Incredibly impressive work. The builder deserves a massive amounts of respect for turning this iconic Cold War aircraft into a RC form. The strobes, the jet engines, the elevons, the retracts, the similarity, not to mention everything in between...very impressive. Kudos to you. Fantastic work!
After a childhood seeing them all the time in Lincolnshire & standing on the patch repair left by Black Buck 1 when I served there in 86, it was sadder than all Hell to watch 558 fly past on her last tour. Served with distinction & above all, with grace. Few aircraft could come close to describing her lines through the sky. She's missed tremendously so seeing this epic RC take to the skies brings some solace. Great job lads :)
Saw the real deal at an airshow at RAF Mildenhall UK in mid 80s. The most impressive A/C ever made. Too bad they're all retired now. Don't retire yours. I would love to see it someday and bring back fond memories.
we're coming to the end of 2019 and there is no other craft that is as magnificent and a pleasure to watch than this ...not even the bigger concorde purely because the vulcan is the most elegant military craft there is. Hopefully, the owners can build a bigger vulcan with at least the same fittings and accessories if not better, soon
WOOOOW ... how could I miss this video. Fantastic onboard shots and great flying at this kind of windy conditions. Congrats to the pilot. *thumbs up*. Cheers, Horst
Cool on-board views and great ground camera work.... finally someone with an actual tripod/head that can shoot without it all being shaky and stupid... how refreshing...
Incredible doesn’t even capture the detail, craftsmanship and effort that went into this almost full scale jet. And a touch and go for a second perfect landing? Awesome! I hope this bird still lives today.
One of the best RC display videos on UA-cam... I *genuinely* had to remind myself, from time to time, that I was watching an RC Scale Airshow, and not footage from an actual Airshow! 🤷🏻♂️ Congratulations to all concerned. 👏😊 And thank you for constructing, flying, and displaying this truly fabulous scale model of one of the most iconic of all British aircraft, harking back to the days when Britain’s cutting edge Aviation Industry was second to none. 🇬🇧☝️😊
Sorry I am an ex RAF aircraft engineer and i dont believe this is RC! I reckon they shrink Martin down to size with a tiny flying suit and co pilot! 😉 I remember at Waddington watching the full size aircraft do 4 ship QRA scrambles 16 Olympus engines ROARING making your ears bleed TOTAL HEAVEN! Thank you for sharing. i,m still furious that RR wouldnt overhaul the engines to keep 558 in the air 😡 all the volunteers that spent YEARS to get her airworthy were betrayed 😢
remember them flying at leuchers when i was a kid, this was before the falklands, pretty sure they flew closer to the crowd then than these rc planes can do now! always amazing... er... anyone have a nimrod?
That jet looks beautiful. I actually like that it is not a speed demon seems much more useful than the super fast jets that just have to fly in circles or they'll go out of range.
Even if the jet goes outta range, doesn't the system direct the model back to starting point? Considering the $$ these guys have in these models, I would assume so.
They have not choosen to do this because things seemed to be easy, but just because they seemed to be hard...Quite incredible .Most sincere congrats and cheers from France.
I remember going to a field in Tampa, as a boy, and being amazed while watching planes flown by "u-control",the old fly by wire. How times have changed. RC planes with jet engines and cameras!
Richard Bedard, was that Tampa field just off Dale Mabry Blvd? Near the big main airport? If so, my dad used to take me out there to watch those things, too. What memories!
Best RC aircraft clip I have watched. That it is a Vulcan, is icing on the cake. I saw one do a fly past at an air show at New Plymouth airport, New Zealand, in 1973.
Four dislikes? Four philistines who don't appreciate the time effort and teamwork operating this model takes. What a spectacular display. Hope to see you flying this 'live' at Elvington or Cosford one day :o)
Pay no attention to those dumb thumb icons -- kids play with them, and most bright readers NEVER click on those. Some click on the down one just to be adverse -- they mean NOTHING! We ignore them unless a comment is made by naive people who may believe them!
Most of us do NOT pay any attention to those thumb like or dislike icons -- kids play around with them, adverse people click on them over and over -- they mean NOTHING real or authentic!
Okay the first landing was mind blowing enough, the second one was just too much. Absolutely beautiful aircraft (that didn't properly get it's chance) and some spot on flying. Just awesome. Thank you for this video!
I believe the squadron marking on this Avro Vulcan are that of 617 Squadron . Awesome footage of a great aircraft beautifully replicated in 1/5 scale . Thank you .
Fantastic bit of kit, great camera shots & a true pro controlling it, in those blustery conditions & nailed the take offs & landings......Loved it!!!!👍👍👍👍👍 thanks for sharing, this plane should never be forgotten😀 !!!!
Absolutely stunning model and great video. The last remaining Vulcan (just a few years ago) flew right over me in my friends garden in Haslemere Surrey Uk, so low, probably on aproach to land at Dunsfold. What thunderous power and what an emotional experience. I knew it was the last one flying and would never see it in the air again. 🇬🇧🇬🇧
It must be very impressed to see this Model Live very nice Video.!! Please tell him, some days he must come to Switzerland Hausen a. Albis R/C Airshow, he is Invited:)
***** sorry tom i meant dave johnson the chairman of the lma who actually built the vulcan not dad, typo error lol that would be cool if you could make it over here sometime :)
Very impresive model of the AVRO Vulcan. If I was to improve, I would try a more realistic take off by using a lot less power for a longer run. A slower motion retracting the landing gear and closing the undercarriage doors would help too, particularly if you have all those cameras on board to betray you. Congratulations from Cali, Colombia !
elsupercanario1 There's always an Experts, Expert with a better way to do it. His Way! Be Happy with what you've got here! Have YOU ever built anything close to this?
This is an amazing video of an amazing RC model of a beautiful aircraft. If you want to read a bit about the Avro Vulcan in action (it's ONLY combat sortie), find the story about their raid on the Faulkland Islands during that war. They flew from England to The Ascention Islands and on to the Faulkland Islands, dropped their bombs then flew back. Multiple air-to-air refueling. They only managed to put ONE bomb on target, but they got lucky: it cratered the runway at the Faulkland airport and rendered it ususable to the Argentinian Air Force. Without a carrier, the Argentinian ground forces were essentially without close air support and thus were extremely vulnerable. I only wish that this video went a little more into the construction of this model. I'd like to know what engines were used, how they were installed, how all of the controls were rigged, how many servos, etc. Does anyone know if there are more videos of this model that might go into that type of information?.
we all live and learn mark, yes she has 4 gas turbines (@ £2,000 each) shes an expensive plane, have you read the video description about her being built ?
This is just about the coolest RC plane video on youtube. The only others that come close are the big RC SR-71 we've probably all seen, and that jumbo RC Concord jet. Hats off sir.
Well done. Beautiful piece of kit. Im American and the Avro Vulcan is probably my favorite cold war era plane. Leave it to our friends in Britain to built such a lovely aircraft. Shame the last airworthy example was recently retired. Thanks for sharing.
I have seen this aircraft fly at RAF Cosford as well as the 5 Squadron Lightning, both amazing models. The onboard camera work on this video is brilliant, thanks for posting this.
Thank you for not adding music so we could hear the jets.
There should be a camera in the cockpit ...
Well said.

great story Gerry, glad it brought back good memories
13:05 Sounds like it even has a little of the 'Vulcan howl'. Beautiful!!!
Best thing about this video is the fact that Martin Withers is present!!!
Well there you go. You guys are keeping the Vulcan alive XH558. Love is a special thing.
Wenn es einen Oskar für RC-Videos gibt, dann sollte dieses Video nominiert sein - da stimmt einfach alles !

On-board cams and audio add a real 'WoW" factor to the craft. Thanx.👍👍
that pilot was great and his plane was just amazing!!

Spectacular plane. Lots of lift from those wings!
would be different from full scale due to different Reynolds number
I worked on this jet ... the 1:1 version though
The air display the Vulcan could do was incredible, straight up it could race a Lightening to 25,000 ft and win ..One pilot, probably more than one, did a barrel roll in a Vulcan. I have seen one land with the top of a fir tree caught in undercarriage seal. An amazing aircraft. Thank you for keeping the memory alive
Er.... "straight up it could race a Lightening to 25,000 ft and win"... Surely not! O.o

the Vulcans main caricature Howl, comes from the exact principles as the noise created, from
simply "blowing" across the rim top of a glass bottle, eg -"milk bottle"...
until you get that "note"
that's... the very same Vulcan howl.
crazy hay..
we've all done it at sometime,
well your making your very own Vulcan HOWWWWLL.
it's just the air being draw/ sucked into and also mainly the noise from the air
"crossing" ""blowing"" over the Engines air intake rims ...
that created one of the most Incredible sounds an aircraft has ever achieved.
go get a glass bottle, and do it now!! you'll immediately recognise that Vulcan howlllll.
😚💨🍶
and you won't stop ever doing it .. nowwwwwwlll
🤣🤣🤣😃😃🤪😜🤩😆🖖🖖🖖🖖👍👍👍👍
really great thanks 😊👍
your skills behind the controls and this channel are 1st class and your RC folks are too..
I watched Vulcans at Midway Island many years ago. Incredibly impressive and not just the noise. They thunder along smartly.
thanks for the memory tom

Damn! That sucks!
It's really a goddamn shame
The engineering skills that must be involved in making these models is fantastic: a one sixth scale jet engine and all the systems ...
thanks john
What a wonderful, fitting celebration of one of the best bombers ever built!
Thankyou for sharing.
thanks tony
Definitely one of the best all-around aerial videos I have ever seen.

That takes me back. I used to do major servicing son the Vulcan, including XH558.
thanks bill, great comment m8
That was one beautiful flight! I felt like I was in the air with it!

The Vulcan is one of my top 5 favorite warbirds. This is a beautiful aircraft. All it needs is the Vulcan howl.
Wow! The Vulcan was my favourite aircraft of all time. Ever since I was a small boy I wanted one.
finally, someone realized how cool it is to put cameras on these planes.
Nice plane, nice camera coverage, nice editing, nice flying. PERFECT!
If no one told you this was a model you would think its the real thing ! Awsome !
thanks
All kudos to the superb pilot....so much touch and go performed with this carrion...
Best RC aircraft clip I have watched. That it is a Vulcan, is icing on the cake. I saw one do a fly past at an air show at New Plymouth airport, New Zealand, in 1973.

what a beautiful and elegant humongous beast excellently piloted...the addition of the onboard camera makes it look like the real thing

Fantastic bit of kit, great camera shots & a true pro controlling it, in those blustery conditions & nailed the take offs & landings......Loved it!!!!👍👍👍👍👍 thanks for sharing, this plane should never be forgotten😀 !!!!
Fantastic!! Ok... which of you had actual flying experience of the real Vulcan? Something really close to home here.
What a beautiful on both flying and construction, it was a joy to be in it WOW, Thank You
WOW that is a massive RC plane!
Does it have 4 turbines ?
If so that is a very large investment that you wouldn't want to take a dirt nap.
hi zeemanjr
yes the vulcan has 4 jetmunt 160 turbines in her !
Cant believe this was 9 years ago , i still have mobius camera's as always great video many thanks👍👍
Thanks for watching breathe - 9 years just flew past m8, tempus fugit
Thats incredible!!
Fabulous! Great model, great flying, great camera footage! And no annoying background music either!!! Cheers guys!
494 dislikes! These people must be mental. What “is there” to dislike? It’s a beautiful model aircraft. God help them.
many thanks don
Jealous people, it can only be that
Agreed, they have SERIOUS issues!!!
Probably NAVY guys...🤣
They are all guys with willies far too small to handle an aircraft like that.
some peeps just wanna see the World in flames xD
Rarely see one of these British birds... beautiful airplane. I LOVE the attention to detail on the landing gear, btw. Spectacular craftsmanship!!
Love the wind screen wipers.
The most fabulous tribute to the "big" one! Thank you!!!!!!
many thanks
Amazing! Well done! Fantastic! Bravo!
😬these people are truly geniuses in every way shape and form to build and fly something like this boggles the mind
yep your right joe !
Brings back memories of RAF Waddington
So amazing.
This is what that hobby is all about.
Wonderful model!
Would like to see a videowith some high-speed man(o)euvers.

thanks martin, happy memories
Tragically beautiful! ( tragic it is not mine.)
Fantastic reality particularly sorting the complex flying controls needed for delta winged aircraft.
thanks
Nice! Only thing this model is missing is the sensation of my ears bleeding on every pass, haha!
Wow this was everything. I could not stop watching I was mesmerized
glad you liked it
It must be very impressed to see this Model Live very nice Video.!! Please tell him, some days he must come to Switzerland Hausen a. Albis R/C Airshow, he is Invited:)
thanks for your comment tom
not sure if dad will travel with his vulcan as a few people have asked !
but thanks

Your Dad, Fantastic Respect.I can travel next Year we talk about :) greetings from Switzerland

sorry tom i meant dave johnson the chairman of the lma who actually built the vulcan not dad, typo error lol
that would be cool if you could make it over here sometime :)
Witnessed the Glenview tragedy from across the street while at summer camp. So sorry for the loss. RIP brave pilots.
Absolutely stunning, well done to all involved & thank you for sharing!!! ;)
Marvellous job constructing the Vulcan.

The giant rc Concord is def the coolest..... well i think so. This is really stunning though.🇬🇧
Great footage and the Vulcan is the best looking aircraft of all times.
thanks bernard
Holy smokes! That's HUGE!
Pardon my ignorance but I had no idea that this model was jet powered!!! Amazing!
we all live and learn mark, yes she has 4 gas turbines (@ £2,000 each) shes an expensive plane, have you read the video description about her being built ?
Who else was waiting for the smoke from the tires?
wondering if you could rub a little something on the tires to make them smoke???!!
not me, geek squad
Any bigger and it would have burnt sum rubber lol
Actually I was waiting for the mini nuke.
This is just about the coolest RC plane video on youtube. The only others that come close are the big RC SR-71 we've probably all seen, and that jumbo RC Concord jet. Hats off sir.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing

Hans Joachim and from Australia too! Magic!
very nice, it seems to fly smooth and slow and effortless, very elegant lines, and took no time at all to lift off, Beautiful.
What a magnificent plane
When it’s flying, it looks like the REAL thing!
Amazing!! Great show!!
thanks
Incredibly beautiful plane and craftmanship, congratulations to the builders, absolutely gorgeous💝💝💝💝
Thank you very much!
Amazing!
