Thankyou for travelling to my part of the world👍 and Thankyou for all the information you provide on location, methods and problems that have to be overcome.
Watched a few of your fishing videos, very good and informative. I used to fish Kessingland a lot back in the 80’s. I’d travel from Essex and stay with my cousin who lived at Carlton Coalville. We had fantastic fishing back then for Whitting. Such a laugh too. The beach used to be full of anglers. We fished towards the sluice gate, south of where your fishing. Thanks again for posting, a memory jogger, not fished there for many years. 😢
best flat fish video i have seen in my opinion, very useful methods on dab fishing, you certainly carry a lot of gear i don't think you would carry that much gear down chisel beach lol, anyway enjoyed it and i learnt a things also, thanks
So glad you found it useful and many thanks for your endorsement Adrian. You are right! I do fish Chesil quite a bit and haven't yet considered taking filming gear as well - the hill and walking distance required at Cogden and the energy sapping steep shingle ridges at Ferrybridge are not to be taken lightly!
Used to fish Felixstowe & Bawdsey early sixties , terrible basic gear that was available then but always had some good cod , don't think those days will come back again great video always interesting
Used to fish Felixstowe quite a bit - was catching codling at the Manor about 6 years ago, but not fished it since. I'm told Manor is still quite good; however thornbacks have replaced the codling. Likewise at East Lane and Shingle Street - never been that successful there. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for the info on how you catch Dabs as it is much different where I fish. I love Dab fishing but can only use 1 hook rigs here in South Devon. You need to hit 100yds to be in with a chance.
Thanks for watching and your contribution @nemessir. Most of the Suffolk coast is good for dabs throughout the winter. I usually use short snood flappers for them, but boom rigs seemed to be better everywhere I've targeted them this winter. I'm no expert, but my next video covers these rigs and fishing for dabs at Dunwich; which may be of some interest.
Admire your dedication brilliant videos. Do you think fishing will improve when we depart from the EU. Let's hope so I fish Whitby and Bridlington regularly during winter driving 40 miles from York one decent cod (5lbs) in the last 5 years keeping the faith keep up the good work 👍
Thanks Michael. I'll leave the politics of quotas etc. to those keen sea anglers who are politicians. Too many so called sportsmen use their sport for political purposes, even if unqualified to do so. In my opinion, sports and politics shouldn't mix; however our 'regulatory' bodies such as the Angling Trust are involved and need to listen to members voices more - maybe one day our sea fishing will get back to what it was like in the 70's. I wouldn't hold your breath though - recreational / competitive angling must be lower down the list than our new Olympic sport of breakdancing - I'm sure our politicians will be embracing that (no common breakdancing policy to withdraw from).
Theres always a plague of Whiting at kessingland. Use large squid baits and fish out to the right of the walk mats and u will get some big hounds and larger Whiting or the odd bass. Good luck
