Hello everyone! Quick side note: I go over all these modules pretty fast, I don't cover all the features of each. Also turns out I could only add a limited amount of cards with links to my videos covering the modules in depth. Ill add links soon! Cheers!
It's so good to see someone else loving the Addac 603 Triple Bandpass Filters as well! Easily one of my all time favourites! I could have the 603, an Intellijel Quadrax, some white noise and a step sequencer (or just an O_c) alone in a case and have so much fun. :)
I need to get more familiar with the Addac modules. I also love the Quadrax, and I have three O_c modules each with a different firmware. I can have a lot of fun with a small setup like this like you say.
Thanks for the video and information as usual! I requested this on the Patreon as well but I'd love to see more Rample specific videos. Your original video sold me on the module but there's not a ton of useful video information out there on this one.
Hey there! Massive thanks for the support on Patreon! Sometimes I miss comments on old posts, but you can always shoot me a message on Patreon if you have questions! I always answer those. In short, I don't plan to do a lot of modules specific videos. But I do plan to come back to my live case more next year, with Rample in it. Maybe a good idea to make a 'How I use samples in my live case' video :)
Nice! Also considered it for this list. I really love it, but also think it's not the easiest to grasp and comes to live most in a slightly larger eco system. Think ill come back to the module in another video some day to give it some more light. It's deserved :)
A few of my favorite modules so far: Klavis Quadigy - Pretty comparable to the Xaoc Zadar, but with more of a focus on really precise control over every stage and control of an ADSR (with quite a few extra stages too). I haven't even messed with CV-controlling it yet, but the flexibility is already awesome, especially for its HP footprint. WMD Subway - An 8-way CV crossfader with mutable channels. I love it because you can essentially turn any multi-output VCO into a wavetable. Antumbra ATN8 - Basically the sibling of the 3xMIA. It's a bit more expensive and power-hungry, but it's even more flexible than MIA as a mixer, since you can divide up the 8 channels any way you want as each stack of inputs just sums to the lowest output. Plus the top and bottom halves can each be switched between 5V or 10V offset generation. It is a more cramped module, though, so I recommend getting textured knobs for it that can be easily turned from the left side, makes a world of difference. Joranalogue Filter 8 - Particularly great if you need a really flexible module. It's a great filter, but it's also an LFO comparable to the Erica Synths Black Octasource (8 LFOs that are offset by 45 degrees from the previous), or an 8-sine VCO (and the waveshapes can be altered by feeding it back into itself, plus it has two inputs!). I'm super impressed by how function-agnostic Joranalogue stuff is, it really leans into the experimental strengths of eurorack. And bit of a niche one, but the EightCrazyHearts Chroniker is an awesome clock multiplier/divider that can be switched between dividing or multiplying per-division (2/3/4/5/6/8/16/32). The creator sells them on Etsy and they still have pretty low stock (Chroniker is currently sold out but may show up again), very affordable and flexible! Pretty colors, too. :)
Excellent video as always! The system as a whole is a living and breathing entity! It’s hard to single out favorites, but there are some I use more than any others (or build patches around because I love them): 1. Beads 2. Quadrax 3. Arbhar Probably my top 3 favorites. Top 3 used at the moment would be Pam’s; Quadrax and Zadar. I’m still fairly new to Modular and love losing myself in exploring! It’s a very Zen activity 😊
It took me way longer than planned to organize my life around this channel. But this time I really have plans to revive my Music, the music channel, and live sets. So hope that will actually happen next year :) Cheers!
These are some great picks. I have a few that that I use quite often: DivKid (Instruo) Ochd with Ochd expander - great bunch of LFOs and modulations Intellijel Quadrax - yeah, okay, I was late to the party but I use this one all the time. I just recently picked up the expander. Bastl Pizza - I just keep coming back to this oscillator. I can get some great sounds out of it without having a muddy mess. Modbap Osiris - This is one of my other favorite oscillators. Expert Sleepers Mk IV - This has filled out a lot of small cases where I needed just that one other "thing" to make it work. Expert Sleepers Ivo - great little VCF. This whole series of modules is great (Amelia, Beatrix, Persephone, etc.)
I’m in love with the 4ms Catalyst Controller. I consider it a story telling module. It allows me to change parameters on up to 8 modules all at the same time, taking patches to vastly different places by nudging a slider
So much value in this! I think I’ve saved over $1k on modular following your advice (utilities are my FAVORITE now hahaha!) thanks for all you do ! Edit: fav module the QARV by after later audio
Glad you like it! And glad I helped you 'save' money ;) Also, QARV is great indeed. I feel I have enough similar functions, but it's an amazing box of features for the size and price!
I'll say 7... Serge Wave Multipliers - I would never have expected to like this so much, because I'm not that big into folders, etc. But the many inputs and outputs and the built-in VCA inspired me to experiment with feedback patching and, yeah, I think it just encourages you to experiment in general. Doepfer Matrix Mixer - A mixer, a bank of attenuators (with offset!), and another feedback powerhouse. Intellijel Quadrax - You can ALWAYS use it. Rossum Mob of Emus - I didn't like it at first, and it is quite ungainly, but this module is like a course on synthesis in a module. All the building blocks are there. You can argue there is a little too much there, that it's a jack of all trades and master of none, but it's a unique and exciting module. Once you start thinking of it as a modulation source instead of an oscillator, you're on the right track. Cwejman Res 4 - I received mine just days before Wowa died. It is my only Cwejman module. A big investment, yes. But I would never part with it. Doepfer clock divider - This performs so many roles. When you're already using random gates, it can perform a role similar to Branches in mediating the density of gates. It can also serve as a comparator (getting gates from envelopes, etc.). Much more than just a rhythm calculator. Toppobrillo Cluster - There's definitely a theme here: I love multi-faceted modules that prompt you to experiment. I also love utilities. I think the longer you've been doing modular, the more you put emphasis on utilities over effects or even sound sources. In the case of the Cluster, other modules do the same jobs in a slightly tidier way, but again, I'm always motivated by the swiss army knife / patch programmable options.
Hey, thanks for the list! A few classics I agree on, but also some I don't know well and have to look into! (Rossum/Toppobrillo) Always interested in modules that invite experiment :)
I don't have favorite modules, because this channel taught and inspired me to think of the modular as building blocks of basic functions. Also I can't spend / don't want to spend too much money on this new hobby, so I use what I have. That said, if I lost them all, the ones I know I'd just buy again are doepfer's dual crossfader, sequential switch, and the happy needing 3xmia. The doepfer theremin is difficult to use, but it's become my signature module to the audience, so I have to stick with it now haha
Aaaah, you passed the test! :) Was really making this list just for fun. Would for sure try and pick these up again if all would be lost, but love my basics! That crossfader is a small gem. All the best!
The stuff you like about the Rample you can do with a ALM Squid Salmple. You would need an expander for the assignable knobs. It’s a really killer sampler. Its open architecture makes so you can use it many ways. You can sample into it too.
Ah, yes: here are several modules you long ago convinced me to buy - which I still haven’t bought haha. About ten years ago I bought Chain Reactor by Pittsburgh Modular. Subsequent LFO releases by many brands make it much less special than it seemed at the time, but I still adore it. Its warblings easily please me and its hands-on adjustment became a familiar skill.
Nice! I love those old school metal-faceplate-big-knobs Pittsburgh modules tbh. But don't feel pressure of course, if you haven't bought them maybe you don't need them ;)
We have a small but nice intersection of modules that we both like: the last two. 3xMia is really great and I could use it more often. But my absolute highlight is also DROID. I use DROID mainly as a sequencer, but also for modulation. I now have several DROID setups and use it everywhere. I am simply a DROID fanboy.
Another vote for ADDAC 506 Stochastic Function Generator for 4 flexible, controlled random envelopes and lfos, and lots of EOR/EOF triggers - like MATHS, but smaller and more. And the 506B expander for random outs and two-stage rises or falls.

In track and hold mode, the comparator level acts as a wet/dry and therefore you can do smoother downsampling sounds which sounds great on acid line and on resonating filters in general.
Great insight into your favourite tools! I've been intrigued for a while by the Addac Triple Bandpass Filter, but discounted it because I thought it was mono. But you mention that it's great for 'stereo set ups'. Do you mean that it's good for converting mono to 'stereo' or that it can preserve a stereo sound source? I think you're referring to the former, as it looks like you're sending an inverted wave into a second channel, but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks for sharing!

I think of it like a underground LFO subway with many different LFO stops.. some LFO's that can also receive FM and can be further modulated.. it's a way to make all your simple LFO's complex and cheap without taking up much space..

I like to use it in the small case setup because it can control two voices, but have to admit overall I tend to go more for external sequencing and sequencer combos. Enjoying Bloom for sure, but would be top of my list need-to-own :)
I’ve sold two of the modules on this list- the Wavetable VCO and Twin Waves- though I did buy the Twin Waves again. And I’ve been trying to identify my ‘favourite’ module for the last twenty minutes, and find that I don’t have one. I think most of the modules I have are great, but I couldn’t single one (or even eleven!) out…
To be completely fair I made this list for fun, because people asked and generally these videos do well. But a lot of my 'favorite' features are simple modulation tricks and options, but I try to show those in my videos as well :) These are all modules I would pretty quickly try to obtain again if all would get lost.
Think it's a good deal for a dual work horse oscillator for sure. I ended up with two. One in a small case for it's flexibility, and one in my live case.
Hello everyone! Quick side note: I go over all these modules pretty fast, I don't cover all the features of each. Also turns out I could only add a limited amount of cards with links to my videos covering the modules in depth. Ill add links soon! Cheers!

Surprised not to see the Bloom enter the list as it seems to be very prominent in the videos. Perhaps time to give it it's own segment one day?
This year’s favourite: Schlappi Nibbler! 🛸
Nice! Never saw that one, will have a look :) Cheers!

uhh... the twin waves gives me john carpenter vibes - and its kind a cheap for its sound imho 😍
Think it's a good deal for a dual work horse oscillator for sure. I ended up with two. One in a small case for it's flexibility, and one in my live case.

That Benjolin keeps popping up, it looks like fun :)
@@MonotrailTechTalk IT is!
I only recently started exploring delay - BIG FUN!
Oof trying to stay away from modular is harder every day. You’re not helping! 😂
Sorry! :) And have a look at VCV rack first ;)
