Well you probably feel more comfortable with the UI but these modules don't work in a similar way. I keep mine for shure and loopers ... there a many ... just think about makenoise This imo is probably the least essential Qubit module they made
This Module is absolutely Great and i will for sure Bus it, but there is no other Module which Beats morphagene imo. How old is morphagene now? Still my Favorit Module of all times.
@@TheNimasan this clearly beats morphagene and all its clicks, noises, annoying buttons that sometimes work and sometimes dont... Fully covers its functionality and adds more. And lifetime repair warranty, come on. Noticing this i listed morphagene immediately
@@Digital__rb well maybe not this, you're right, you can enter single loop files/buffers. for me it would be ok though, as preparing these reels actually is what puts me off recently. would prefer it to work properly as a looper and play some synths into it, layer, etc. but it all depends of course on everyone's workflow preferences. and this also keeps evolving for me. Morphagene has been a huge inspiration for my music but what I mean there's a lot of things that annoy me in it.
there's nothing clear or well-defined about skip and slice/splice knobs. their algos are just presets. the panel is as busy as anything by MN, and the idea of using leds as a GUI is as bad as it's in MG. the Stardust sounds great, probably better than the MG, but there's not a single new idea here, just a collection of everything. I really wish QuBit just made a Nebulae 2 proper, with speed and pitch separated, multiple undo levels, and so on.
Mine arrived today and it is absolutely amazing! I think a lot of people are expecting it to be a looper in the traditional sense of the word but to me it’s a looper combined with elements of data bender and a bit of Prism with a few of the effects modes. It really shines at making short glitch beats. The slice and skip controls are truly marvelous!
Amazing work. Super well thought...especially the resample option which is one (damn good) reason why one would choose Stardust over a loop pedal for instance. Can't wait to see the secondary function video!
Excellent work and it will make a lot of people happy. If you could manage to autosplice on a transient you'd have a winner (you already have, figure of speech). However, I did not see anything about loading and saving loops so I guess this is more a live performance looper? I need to read the manual but I am pretty sure I'll have it on my channel one day. It looks and sounds stunning.
In resample mode, it would make sense to have the knobs default to zero values in a "pickup" mode, so the knobs then do nothing until turned down to zero first (to avoid instantly adding another layer of manipulations to the just resampled loop).
Amazing module! so much thoughts put into it. Even tho its a "tape" machine i'd love to have an option where Varispeed behaves like on Nebula for some awesome time-stretch effects :)
I was hoping for this combo as well for quite a while now. Somehow no company has produced a granular module that 'has it all'; while Cornflakes for instance has this timestretch capability, you can't play/loop samples backwards on it 😢
At first, I was excited to see this title. Once I started watching, I realized I already have a Phonogene and a Morphogene. I do like the Undo feature and the encoder press to reset to single speed. Inertia and the effects options are nice features as well. And it looks cool.
As a Fripp fan, I should note that it was Brian Eno who introduced the tape looping method to Fripp; it subsequently became known as Frippertronics (that label apparently given by Joanna Walton in 1977).
Frippertronics - can the rate of decay be adjusted? Meaning, initial recording can be set to gradually decay into silence after 2 iterations, or 22 iterations?
I think this is the closest thing I've seen to a Chase Bliss Habit in module form and I have developed immediate GAS for it. I was just about to list a load of stuff to sell too, so that's rather fortunate.
I don't understand why these tape delay modules with varispeed controls don't have higher sampling / bit rates (genuinely asking) -- If you can reduce playback speed by 1/16 then doesn't that mean with a sampling rate of 48kHz your Nyquist frequency is only 1.5 kHz for the slowest playback? Or perhaps that's only necessary for reproducing ultrasonic frequencies at these lower playback speeds (which could be interesting assuming recording equipment could capture it), in which case maybe having a higher bit rate is more important? What does 32-bit internal / 24-bit hardware even mean?
Looks good but should be possible to save "reels" like Morphagene or as i remember also Nebulae can save several files. Without that its just an effect like the magneto ?
Yeah, for exactly this I bought the Nebulae 2 days ago. Damn it haha. I know, I know, they are different. But not for the features I like, I see this more as a follow up for the functions I got the Nebulae for
Im definitely getting this module but are you guys going to fix the noise issue on mojave? The more CW or CCW the size knob and CW the whirl knob is the more prevalent it gets. Would love if you guys would fix that issue as it Takes a lot of fun out of the module.
Did you check if your mic is always on? It fooled me. Never had any problems with noise on my Mojave so it may not be something Q can fix with firmware.
Is there any way save more than one loop on to the usb stick? It seems like a bit of an oversight, just overwriting the same file. I only discovered this lady night, after a mammoth 3 hour jam. Good job I was recording the whole time. 😅
Two things: Flutter and Freeze should have been larger knobs. The true value of this module over very similar modules is in the onboard effects and those small knobs are just subpar. And those two functions really should not have been named as such. With several effects hidden underneath, something more arbitrary would have been more suitable.
the FX are half-baked in many senses. and if you think about the entire module, there's a lot but there's nothing new or special about it. I hoped it would be a Nebulae update, but for some bizarre reason they decided to repeat the 'inspired by tape' thing everyone else did twice... boring
Perhaps… that’s probably the only one I’d consider getting. But something about every Qubit module I’ve owned is a real strong cold metallic digital artifact sound that turns me off. Bought a couple and sold them after less than a month… not really my thing I guess. Maybe Data Bender works because that’s actually the type of sound it’s going for
Looks great, the sound isn’t really precise to appreciate what you’re doing, I would like to ear voice recording to ear precision and distortion of the sound
Awesome! What i wanted DataBender to be. Suggestion for an effect variation in next firmware, one knob controls the Low-/High-Pass-DJ-Filter, the other knob controlls Resonance/Q.
This device is incredible but he is moving way to quick through all these features and not allowing us to really hear how these creative features can sound from a musical stand pont.
It looks like fun and I like the ability to make it sound like old tape and skip, etc. I don't like the children's nursery star stuff and frankly wish it wasn't there.
This looks fantastic- a no-nonsense looper with all the required functionality, full cv control, and a very clear and understandable interface.
Watched this. Sold the Lubadh. Bought this! Looks to be everything I wanted from the Lubadh but never found :)
I did the same. without reading this
I did the same.

quibit has always had the most clear and sensible panel layouts. this is like a morphagne that makes sense, with added bonuses.

Not only great sounding modules but great looking as well.

there's a ton of loopers which do resampling. even the Nebulae did it ages ago
damn you qu-bit always making the best modules i cant turn away from!

Zero crossing autosplice would indeed be great.

Very few eurorack modules have slice on transient? Why? It's the most obvious use of slicing. I'm perplexed why no one is doing it.

Excellent design, guys! Congrats 🎉
This looks awesome, a definite buy.
Nice! Strong set of features. I‘m looking forward to try it out. 😉

@qubit, can the DSP FX used without recording, ie can i use also stardust as an FX processor ?
Nice - WOW - some very very cool and incredibly musical features! Can't wait to get mine!
Ah exactly what I’ve been looking for! So excited to try this one soon!
And here I thought I didn't need anymore modules lol most definitely will be buying this

Oh Yeah ❤
We need peace in the world to turn the knobs without sorrows and fear.
A big hug to Dr.Richard Boulanger….

Are the inputs ac-coupled or can you record cv signals? How many sessions can you save on the usb-stick, or is it one usb-stick per recording?

Yep, the Clock input and Clock Mode are just for that!
