    It is 100% a boys club! There are so many more deserving players that could’ve been picked. I also believe if it wasn’t for the backlash he would’ve gotten, that he would not have picked Brooks if he had it his way. I don’t care if the USA is heavily favored you have to put together a team of the best players at the moment

    Zach had to pick Brooks, then he kissed the PGA’s A- and took the good old boys club members. He did not care who was playing the best. Just who supported the PGA against LIV golf.

      KupcaKe was the no brainer captains pick. The team needs 1 guy who’s not only the indestructible unflappable battering ram, but he happens to also be the guy who brings the killer instinct mentality to the team. The Kobe Bryant “black Mamba” mentality. That. Is. BK.

    Thomas got picked because Speith did, they go hand in hand like right and left- hand gloves - you can't take one without the other. I wouldn't have taken either and would have picked Keegan over Speith, Colin over Fowler and Lucas over Thomas.

    How they play as a team doesnt matter . You take the best and make them perform out of pride for the team and country. If they can't then that's too bad. Show some respect for the players who work hard to be on the team and dream of being there.

    This is not an American 🇺🇸 Ryder Cup team it’s a PGA frat boys team. I think Haney is the only one being honest about this phony team. We don’t want a class team but the best American players failing to pick the top LIV players was a major error and shows it’s a boys club not the top American players

  • @oahujuniorgolfassociationc6656

    Sam burns did get a pick Alex.
    Europe’s success in NOT as simple as teams guys liking each other. They consistently make good decisions and do not pick guys just because other guys like them. Poulter got some picks but Poulter is Poulter. Europe needed him more than the US needs JT. I could make a case Europe still needs Poulter more than the US needs JT.
    Apples and oranges if you ask me.
    One thing has become more and more clear, with all due respect to Glover and the LIV guys and others on THE PGA tour, Keegan is the biggest snub.
    Jt and Jordan should only play 4 ball in Europe. Same with Scottie and burns imo. Singles also of course.

His best finish was a tie for 11 in the Open Championship then he never finished better than 40th after that, missing the cut 3 out of 7 times! Where do you get he plays great in Europe?

    JT was a Tiger pick. Tiger used his influence to get his buddy on the team. Sheffler likely did the same with Sam Burns. This is basically a fraternity golf trip, but I still hope they win. If they don’t , Zack will be compared to Hal Sutton as one of the worst captains in recent memory.

  • @tonyfortune346
    @tonyfortune346 Рік тому +3

    It's the captain's choice to pick the players he wants to play for the team. That's the entire reason they have captain's picks. They could not have any captain's picks and just take the top 12 players. Zach picked the players he wanted to play for team USA and you can disagree if you want but that's the way its designed. If you don't like it, complain about the format because the reason they have captain's picks is so the captain can choose who he wants lol.

    • @paulmartin3744
      @paulmartin3744 Рік тому

      Well said! I personally might have thought Bradley or Young would have been reasonable choices, but Zach is trying to build the best team and he was given the responsibility to make the best choices for the team. As impressed as I was with Glover's last month, I don't think someone who didn't play in any majors this year should get a pick. If ZJ thinks JT is the right pick for team spirit and his individual scrappiness in match play, I support that decision.

    • @tonyfortune346
      @tonyfortune346 Рік тому

      @paulmartin3744 Exactly. I'm pretty sure he consulted the other players and captain's and made the choice he felt was best. The captain for the Euro team has made picks like this before. I think I remember Poulter getting a pick when he wasn't ranked anywhere near the top but nobody complained because of his track record in this event. JT has been one of the guys bringing the intensity and energy to the team the last several events, so I already assumed he was going to get picked. I think people are underestimating the value of the guys that keep the moral up on the team.

    Should have been simple to pick the top 12 best golfers, take the top 12 golfers over the last two years, if Keegan was ranked #1, Zach would have done everything possible to not put Keegan on the team. It shouldn't matter if Keegan has a attitude every once in a while, I've seen the greatest golfers in the world act like a child that doesn't get what he wants. Nothing against JT, he is a great golfer, should have picked the best 12, not the nicest 12. Best of luck team USA, and to everyone in the Ryder cup.

    LOL...Good Old Boys strikes again...Not the most deserving, but who likes who...Hank is right on target. And to use Ryder Cup performance and playing in Europe as the main factors is just ridiculous. If you use those decision points I think Jack Nicholas should have been selected. Now do you see how ridiculous it sounds. Go back to standing points only to decide who is on the team. Thank heavens Poulter, Westwood, and Garcia aren't playing. That gives the US still a chance to win with these stupid picks. A big thumbs up.

    I agreed JT wasn’t the most deserving of the final spot based on the season just gone. However, there was a sharp upturn in form just at the end, and that effort to make the top 70 was an epic finish, just came good too late on. I reckon the previous RC appearances were also an influence - 100% win rate in singles, unbeaten in fourballs, and 50% win rate in foursomes. That’s one of, if not the best, RC records out there. That has to be worth considering.

    🚨🚨🚨 Who can’t and doesn’t love JT but talk about favoritism in substitute of merit!!!!To give JT the spot over Keegan Bradley or Lucas Glover, just to drop two more worthy names over JT, shows how the selection system may have issues.
    I mean Keegan Bradley, by all accounts, “showed up” every week he played on tour this year. Definitely 1 of the better consistent golfers on tour this year. Week in week out. Plus he is a Ryder Cup fanatic to put it lightly. So I feel terrible for him.
    Then you have Lucas Glover. A PGA journeyman. Who played lights out and won back to back PGA events in the latter years of his professional career. That’s INSANE ! Also, if you look into his season, he played really well every event he was in and placed high enough to stand out. Especially being that old playing against younger stronger talent. I feel really bad for him too.
    I can’t imagine what those 2 feel like right now and they have every right to feel slighted. To feel sour and to feel angry at how this played out.
    Lastly, I gotta say I’m still waiting for the year Kevin Kisner gets the nod because even though he doesn’t have length in his game and doesn’t hit a far ball he is built for an event like the Ryder Cup. A good ole super proud American boy. 🚨🚨🚨

All golfers have slumps but JT is friends with almost everyone.. now it is a team vs individual and JT has impeccable record with RYDER CUP team play..Being 81 I realize Haney still wants to be in the lime light.

  • @In_my_own_mind

    Why risk it with Thomas? If USA loses and Thomas play as bad as he has done this season he will get so much bashing. Why risk that? Wouldnt it be better to pick someone deserving of the spot? The picking players who has good chemistry/bonding thing is just an excuse. Look at Europe, they bond no matter who is on the team. If the American players cant bond without being part of a click maybe there is something wrong with their attitude. They should be able to bond with new players/people too. They are all American and play for the same goal.
    To use excuses like Glover has never played Ryder cup before is laughable. Guess what, everyone is a rookie one time and if you use that argument no one can ever get experience at anything. JT, Spieth, Fowler, Koepka etc all where Rydr cup rookies at one time. Glover may only have this one chance to play Ryder cup because of his age and because there are so many Americans to compete with for a spot. Zach Johnson took that once-in-a-lifetime chance away from him when he deserved it. He also picked Burns because he is best friends with Scheffler. Is it so that he can hold Schefflers hands?

Johnson did his best together with his co-captains Love, Couples, Stricker of selecting those who were in their own right excellent players and also compatible for team play. Other than Spieth and Thomas being close friends, I don't see any other correlations! Johnson has a winning record in the Ryder Cup and that should mean something. He had an atrocious year and it's not like he won the final tournament or anything. He just had a better than average final performance is all, but his year sucked and he tanked in the world rankings. Team chemistry is admittedly an intangible factor, but there is no arguing with the fact that it is immensely important. Honestly, if someone is just not vibing with the other guys, it brings the team down emotionally (which is why Koepka was a surprise, he seems like a bit of a douchebag) so “boys club” or not, you want people around you who will drive team chemistry, be fun to play with, and have a positive never-say-die attitude.
    Remember, we’re not on the inside seeing the data nor are we in the locker room before and after tourney rounds, so we don’t know what ZJ does.

    Harsh words but someone has to speak out! JT is a media darling and gets lots of attention regardless how he plays. You're either in or you are out. He finished 50th in the rankings to Keagan's 9th. Keagan posted a better scoring average. This should have been a no brainer. Sam Burns should have been taken over Thomas. And what NONSENSE it is to suggest chemistry is a factor. The instant one player is teamed with another, both will battle for their Country. Thomas has been in a long slump and his showing in the oast tournament was awful...so much for taking a player who's hot. Glover is another who should have been taken but Fowler is another darling. I feel very bad for Bradley and Glover...it's a country club now. The pressure will on and it will be interesting to see how Fowler and Thomas do...on foreign soil no less.

    The whole situation is pathetic - I think ZJ has no ballls and his VCs and players are running the show

    Pick the best 12. Period. If a player has 2 good seasons and qualify, then he is in.

    I think JT and Jordan could be the worst performing pairing this time. Neither have really been on form. Both have been having putting woes. Both have big misses with the driver. They are obviously world class players but if they are both on an off day, it could be bad.

    Hank is trying to be relevant again. The guy doesn't seem to have a nice word for anyone, unless you're purchasing one of his many training aids, videos, software etc....Zach is the captain and as captain he can build his team as he wishes...it's his job. Current performance is one thing he looks at among many. He chose JT and would probably take him again. I feel for Keegan. People are saying JT is not deserving. Based on what-performance over the past 9 months. Alex is right on, he is very good in Europe, one of the best in Ryder Cups and an outstanding teammate. I'll bet the guys on the team are not complaining about Thomas.

    Ok, you make a good argument. The only thing is your argument does not sit well with me. His European record is good, his Ryder cup record is Great, but those records were gain when he was killing it. He is not the same JT as he was then. Another thing, he might have a couple of weeks to rest and that might not be enough to get back to what made him JT, if it was that simple, I think JT would had done that a while ago. You cant take away what he has done, but the US team needs players that are on it now, not players that “lets cross our fingers and hope JT gets his game in the near near future.”

    I am sure the European team are happy with his pick! Lol Several others would have been better for the US team since Thomas has been in a slump!

    He has been picked by captain so very unfair for everyone to pick on him like that. I think for a team to work well they have to blend with each other, call it a boys club if u like but it make the whole team atmosphere electrifying. As for hank ,he should stick to his annoying online lesson hussle and leave the real golfers to theie game.

    I get your point, but the current JT is far from the one of old. So I don't think what you did, 4 or more years ago. Right now, he is playing terrible, he looked terrible on the zoom. Shameful pick.
