As a line technician (ramper) I can confirm he did not jump in. He got pulled in. Maybe by choice but he wasn’t the one that made the input iykwim. Those engines have such powerful suction that when you are within like 15-20 feel you can still get pulled in.

I read the article for this heartbreaking story. Turns out the guy was having a full on panic attack because his grandfather was in the hospital. His family told him that the situation was dire therefore he got the first plane he could to go see his grandpa. Unfortunately he missed the flight I can’t remember what exactly caused that but because he missed the flight he went on full panic to try to stop the plane and got sucked in by the propellers.

He was not sucked up into the engine…the engine was not running. When he was found he was unconscious and Narcan was used to try and revive him. He suffered from found bipolar disorder, diagnosed 10 years ago," explained Kyler's sister, Anneke. "He had his first major manic episode and then he kind of continued to have those every two or three years, and those were always really hard.”
Kyler was scheduled to fly to Denver to see his sick grandfather, but he had an unspecified episode and breached the airport security door. His family believes the incident stemmed from another mental health crisis.
“He got held up in security, missed his flight, and those phone calls, I just knew it was coming on. They call it the manic phase. Those just don’t end well for him," said Judd. "Obviously, this one, the worst ever.”

      Exercise. (Some people do it)
