When I was at college for my welding course they showed us a video of what happens if an oxy acetylene welding set goes of inside a brick-built shed. Afterwards instead of a shed there was a crater. I always had a decent amount of respect for gas bottles since.
Yes true, not like in many Hollywood movies, where the good guy just running minutes in front of the bus/cars with bad guys who wanted to kill him, instead of running off the road to find a safer place :)

I've seen these cylinders fly at missile speeds. If it had come directly his way he would have been obliterated at that distance. I imagine it looks much further on video than it was in reality because they are using a wide angle lens.

Me too 😂 they were almost far enough away, though. Probably only would have been around 30-40 stitches and a week in the hospital. Nothing you couldn't recover from 😜
For what its worth I think the reason the tank burst instead of simply exhausing its contents through a self enlarging hole was the round used. The API round contains an incidenary compound intended forvstsrting fires in fuel tanks however blasting that compound inside a tank filled with high pressure oxygen allowed the incidenary mix to burn at fadtly accellerated speed essentially like gunpowder in a gun, this explosion caused the tank to overpressure and burst. The only role the safe played was adding lots of additional shrapnel (and possibly slowing down the escaping tank remains.) I'd expect if you repeated this with fmj ammo the tank would end up with the typical holes instead of bursting, and if you hit one in the open with API again I suggest building a blockhouse first.
One of the reasons I watch this channel is because I'm fascinated by the fact that these two are still alive. Luckily I have never seen anyone killed, but it has happened in many instances. Good luck to you guys, and God was definitely watching over you two in this video.

The tank came exactly where Gaspari was standing. Would have exactly touched his toes if he did not run. Get those 6 locking bolts and saved them for later. They are made up of very high density material. Try shooting them later.
That's so funny!!! Reminds me of a story one of my 3rd uncles told me... back in Ukraine when it was still part of soviet union he worked at the hospital as a maintenance technician and they had burn piles burning trash.. what he didn't notice was one of the piles had a half full oxygen tank.. he kept sweeping and sweeping.. turns the corner and hears a boom 💥 he checks all the windows in the hospital building first couple levels were blown out.. he still kept his job and was very lucky he wasn't right next to the burn pile when it blew
Looking at the post exploded tank you can see how it came back at them. The round entered the tank in the front (of course) but the tank did not explode when the round entered the tank. The tank exploded as the round exited causing a rip up and down the backside of the tank. Likely due to the bullet fragments (fragments created from the bullet going through the front) creating a bunch of punctures on the backside, weakening it. All of the compressed air then went out the back of the tank (from Edwin's point of view) in a fraction of a second, forcing it forwards and towards them. It would seem this is the likely outcome of any high powered round. Just an FYI for future tank shooting enthusiasts.
These tanks begin life as a single flat piece that is curved into a tube and welded. They're actually designed to rupture at the seam in order to direct or vent the gas in ONE direction instead of actually fragging. This was actually a safe tank failure believe it or not :) At least it didn't ignite the O2!
@@lonnywilcox445 ive did this! & Yes it can ignite! Being a weldor all my life, I have seen firsthand, twice actually, an oxygen bottle accidentally falling over and knocking the top/valve assembly off, causing the bottle to act like a runaway torpedo, going thru concrete block walls and taking everything out in its path.. these are definitely not to be " played with", if you will. Luckily I have never seen anyone killed, but it has happened in many instances. Good luck to you guys, and God was definitely watching over you two in this video.
Yet that is why people are watching. "Good luck to you guys and also god was watching over." Make up your mind.. So by your own logic they do not need to be careful.. He is watching over.
true
Get another safe, put a tank of oxygen and a tank of acetylene
Amen!....
@@macbook802 ooo yes, but first ensure a weeee bit of the acetylene valve is open and leaking, shut the safe….then boom. Love these guys!
Guys try to be more safe, we dont want u to get hurt. 🤕
You boys bring so much enjoyment🥰 to us viewers and we want to see more of both of you Alive 💗
Love from Norway 🇳🇴
I've just said the same thing in my comment. I hope they listen to our concerns to be honest.... I'm worried like my kid started making pipe bombs now. It's not just this but this is added to all the many other times I've thought *right that wasn't safe REEEALLY though eh... 😑* I love those Muppets now so I feel personally concerned that they need to be WAAAAAAAAAAY more careful. That's the only thing I personally "expect" like as a "deal-breaker" in someone I am essentially*encouraging* to do what they do so well by supporting online stuff over years and years. If that ends in two giggling corpses I shall be more than a little upset about that....
"I think we're at a good distance." "Yeah, probably. We'll see." Holy crap!
The most dangerous and funniest experiment in this channel 😍😍😍😍
Son lo máximo!
Pd. for Gasparito: necesitaran un par de bolillos para el susto!🤣
I love you guys so much 😎
Crazy and what a violent explosion. Incredible amount of potential energy in pressure vessels like that.
You folks are lucky. That shrapnel radius was insane. Even a small chunk hit the table he was shooting off of.
This sort of behaviour will get your life insurance cancelled PDQ
Famous last words, " yeah I'm pretty sure this is safe".🤣🤣
The lab coat had me busting up laughing. The science is on point. I look forward to your science and cooking shows. Thank you Edwin and gas perry
"Gas perry" lol.
Gasparito
These guys are AWESOME! Reminds me of the good and old days when FPSRussia was live. Like all good things in life come to an end. I wish ES to run as long as you guys can. Cheers!
Is fpsrussia dead?
@@gabaktech no, he went to prison but hes out now and he actually does livestreams and shit. his name is kyle something, i forget lol

This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen by far, thanks for the content Gasparito and Edwin!
Thank you
Wow the oxygen tank in the safe Hass to be the most awesome you guys crack me up ,
I've been following your videos for years and this is so far the most impressive... Imagine if you put two oxygen tanks in there because they fit
One oxygen tank and one acetylene for a recipe of disaster maybe?
Don't give them ideas lol
@@budi0251 Dewit, just get *MUCH* further away
You guys are insane! Stay safe, we all want to continue watching your content..
Stay SAFE hahahaahhahaha
Insane content guys! From the moment I saw the type of high pressure tank & the close distance you were, I figured it was going to be epic. o2 tanks are no joke & thankful no one was injured. Next, test the acetylene & o2 tanks together for an explosive reaction! OSHA is punching the air right now
My suggestion as well. O2 and acetylene inside the safe and crack the valve on the acetylene just before closing the door.
Just a little bit farther back tho 😁
@@michiganengineer8621 EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@chrisgabbert658 like 5x farther if mixing.
Just stand the oxygen in a barrel of oil to get a much bigger reaction
You guys always make awesome videos!! Keep up the great fun for us viewers!
This was crazy! We need more oxygen tank experiments now!!!
Best gun science ever. That was scary as hell. Next time you put an oxygen tank in anything go double or triple the distance. Stay safe and keep up with the crazy vids.
I know *I* want to wear a "science coat lab". Especially when you can laugh death in the face while wearing it! 😀
The lesson here is that wearing a lab coat does not increase the wearers intelligence.
The moment of silence, I was expecting one of you to just rip a loud one
Edwin this was by far the best safe explosion you have ever done since the beginning of your channel and I've been watching I Absolutely loved this and it's a great way to show how dangerous compact gas is are
Watching Edwin's videos is like watching Final Destination except the victims get away with it every time !!!!
Like the bowling ball they just gucking launch with that mortar!
Your formula for making videos is so simple and it works every time.
Great video, I figure a 50 BMG Incendiary round going through a compressed oxygen bottle will result in a pretty BIG bang!! I do believe they should have done this in a protective bunker or at a much further distance for sure. Awesome videos, you guys are great and be safe out there.
D3mo Ranch did this but the tank didn't explode but turned into an oxygen lance and burned a 4" hole out both sides.
You shoved what is functionally a bomb inside of a closed space and shot it with a high energy kinetic round. What did you think was gonna happen?.
I bet he was hoping it would do like Matt did with the poles
Shut up 🤣🤣🤣
ya know, thought it was gonna explode harder because it was a incendiary but apparently didnt
Science channel ! Proving physics again and again...
@@theplayer12312 Nah. The oxygen wasn't around long enough to ignite. That was all pressure. Those things are under like 5,000 psi.
I got to say as a Serb this one is the one of my favorite videos you ever did. We want more ... ❤️❤️❤️
This is the best video I've seen on your channel by far. I remember Matt shot a ox tank with an APIT I guess a year ago or two and it just blow a clean hole through the tank causing the oxygen to burn the hole bigger. But this one was surprising. I hope this video goes viral. Thank you.
5:23 “I think we’re at a good distance.”
“Probably. We’ll see.”
THEY SAW‼️😅
Best youve ever done! And thank your lucky star that you couldn't fit a bigger oxygen tank into the safe.
God, I've watched you guys off and on over time but this absolutely commanded I hit the subscribe button. No pressure or anything! Lol. I am a retired contract Rig welder and saw that coming a mile away.. So glad you two survived it...
This is the stuff I hope to see on UA-cam everyday
This video takes me back to the good old days of UA-cam. Well done gentlemen, you lived to tell! Love the content.
I would definitely advise on grabbing a large full body tactical shield for cover on the next time!
ABSOLUTELY blew my mind how explosive that tank was…WOW! Great content glad you survived to make another 👍
6:52 either understatement of the year or a great quote for your tombstone.
it's my birthday and this video was the best gift. Thanks guys, you made my day with this scientific video.
Best video yet!!! You guys are freaking awesome and glad no one got hurt! Okay, get a better safe and go again?!!!
I've watched almost all of your videos, Holy shit that was crazy, one the craziest ones ive seen yet! love the content!!! Glad your both still alive to do more science experiments!
I watched the legendary handgrenade in ATM video, most dangerous thing I've seen on UA-cam.
This was also dangerous, well done.
The tank came exactly where Gaspari was standing. Would have exactly touched his toes if he did not run.
Get those 6 locking bolts and saved them for later. They are made up of very high density material. Try shooting them later.
That's so funny!!! Reminds me of a story one of my 3rd uncles told me... back in Ukraine when it was still part of soviet union he worked at the hospital as a maintenance technician and they had burn piles burning trash.. what he didn't notice was one of the piles had a half full oxygen tank.. he kept sweeping and sweeping.. turns the corner and hears a boom 💥 he checks all the windows in the hospital building first couple levels were blown out.. he still kept his job and was very lucky he wasn't right next to the burn pile when it blew

you guys came a long way for facing your death in a desert. That was a close call from above. Stay sane you geniuses!
FPS Russia Vibes for sure! Glad you guys are okay, maybe back it up a little next time ;-)
Christ on Friday, that scared the shit out of me. Especially the bit where large pieces of steel are flying at the camera!!!!
Really hope these guys get the help they need. No one should deal with feeling suicidal alone...
These two are just insane with their craziness 🤣
If I ever end up on holiday over there ( I'm in OZ) I will have to come on one of your educational test days, you two just make my day everytime 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"i think we're a good distance right...Ah yeah probably, we'll see" 😝 That was nuts. Both of you were very fortunate not to get hurt.
You two are having entirely too much fun. Love the videos. Keep ‘em coming!
Hello Deedubs good day how are you ?
Well I see it blowing all of it .
@@gotindrachenhart O2 doesn't burn by itself, there has to be a fuel. Gypsum board makes a poor fuel.
@@lonnywilcox445 ive did this! & Yes it can ignite! Yes O2 is just a extremely powerful oxidizer but im sure if anything flammable would have been around, besides the aluminum & steel they destroyed it would have ignited. I burned a lot of the grass & almost set the woods on fire. I had half a dozen fires instantly! Without my childrens help i may have been calling the fire department! Luckily it was maintained grass & very short, if not i may have burned half the county! My guess is the heat started the ignition 🤷, the explosion was one thing but the fires really surprised me. Don't underestimate how "flammable" O2 can make things; hence all the warnings on any oxygen tank or environment!!💥🔥
And unlike this fellow i was smart enough to shoot from inside the house a good distance away, bc ya know, safety first.👍
-🧑🚒🚒😂🤦 and where did the sheetrock comment come from?
@@rocknraptor3195 the insulation in most safes is drywall. It is actually very good at the job and is cheap.
When I saw the O2 tank at the pre-view, I thought that this is not gonna end well...My mind recalled the famous FPSRussia accident. I was right.
No other science channels are so badass like you. Love your coldblooded experiments.

So nice of you to send coffee up to space for our brave and overworked astronauts 🙂

Brandon H. is in a "Ryan Reynolds pool" with others right now. Edwin and Gas were trying to crash it with this one.
After a long break finnally to my favourite Channel i have missed you Guys.... 👍🏻❤️
I worked for years around large bottles of refrigerant. When they blew, they would fly... I thought you were going to get a fireball with limited explosion... maybe half of what you got. This was AMAZING. I loved it! It was the best.... your friend kept hollering 'cabrón'! 🤣
BEST ONE YET! For goodness sake, a little more distance, not like the 50 won't make it. Solid channel, we don't want to lose it, or you guys, for lack of safety!!

Thats impressive what oxygen under pressure can do...but feel free to keep more safety-distance next time👍
Brandon should personally deliver your Darwin Award. Great video!
Somehow you are still alive? Pretty amazing stuff! So safety is job 3….and THAT is why we tune in!
Love you guys! Time to think of safety barriers to get behind! You don’t want to have to “Stick a thumb in it”.

You guys are hilarious and truly insane and I love it!
Glad you guys are OK. Wow!
That explosion is INSANE! Glad those two weren't hurt from that. It's one of the reasons why MythBusters always did this in a bunker behind thick protective glass.
this kinda makes the Myth Busters look like sissies
