  • Newsnight has been told the Security Service’s failure to prevent the Manchester Arena bomb attack in 2017 centred on a mistake so serious that it could be viewed as negligent.
Two sources told the BBC that MI5 received intelligence in the months before the 2017 attack, linking Salman Abedi to a bomb plot.
Earlier this month, the public inquiry into the attack concluded a significant opportunity to stop the attack was missed.
Newsnight’s Richard Watson has the story.

You don’t need evidence that’s how mi5/6 work they follow and develop targets they don’t often arrest them they want to turn them for their own benefit or expose the network. That is the nature of intelligence but often results in mistakes! The perception is they save lives and stop things happening but this is misguided! If the act can be used for their advantage and fits their narrative they will let it happen. Remember these Libyans were encouraged, assisted and trained to go back to Libya.

Absolutely disgusting that they had opportunities to stop this from happening and they did nothing . 7 years they were aware of him it's crazy as if they allowed it to happen . They had so much information on him his movements and how it all occurred how could they let it continue . It's crazy someone reported it before it happened and yet ignored . Someone should be held accountable . Even if there was a chance it was a false threat so atleast send a few officers as a precaution keeping a lookout for the person. Major failings took place from the intelligence service . This isn't the first time this has happened . Imagine what other intelligence they had they didn't disclose . Absolutely disgusting. There are two sides to blame here the attacker and the intelligence service that allowed it to happen due to clear negligence and ignoring or information they recieved .

They also knew their father who had fought with Bin Laden in Afghanistan against the Russians, he was part of a group that had tried to assassinate Gaddafi in the past. Something happened and this act was blow back. Mi5/6 failed and this is being covered up! There is alot of evidence to show this was a staged hoax, no evidence of any bomb going off only reports of a "bang", which according to some eyewitnesses sounded like speakers and balloons popping. The type of device that Abedi was said to have used does not match what was seen or heard. Many things don't add up with the witnesses, like Nick Bickerstaff and his camera phone video he took where he is filming himself shouting out for his daughter (supposedly after the bomb has gone off), and yet you can clearly see concert goers walking past him acting normal. They said that the glass roof had been shattered, but this is not true as footage was taken from a drone shortly after showing the glass room to be intact, and none of the glass doors leading to the station where damaged, contrary to what the media says that they were. Abedi was seen leaving his bag beside a wall in the concourse and then fleeing the arena building, he was then followed by car by armed police response teams.

Our separation policies will no longer work, in order to establish the same effect we need to turn 180 degrees, we need to reckon with a collective force of evil, an axis bound to destroy democracy and boost one man leadership.
We are being led like a hundred year old woman runs the show, she basically wants the show to run till her life ends, not caring if the show must go on afterwards.
In order to maintain our level of life, our supreme economy, because that is where it all is about, it is time to flex our military muscles.

The security services are second to none in what they do. 37 late stage terror attacks prevented since 2017 so they obviously are good at what they do. It’s unfortunate and unacceptable but Manchester wasn’t the first and statistically it certainly won’t be the last. Scrutiny is great because it helps identify where they went wrong but the public has to be aware that occasionally some will slip through the net.
I don’t think it’s fair to ever fully pin the failure on a single organisation but they owned it and will be sharper next time.
