I got one and it was garbage. The crank was loose and I had to ride all wonky just so it wouldn't fall off. The motor didn't work either.

This should be fixable. It sounds like the bikes developed some kind of a kill code that shut them all down at the same time. It probably is a safety feature that has to do with preventing the batteries from catching on fire. It may be overkill, but Laptop batteries have a kill code that kicks in pretty early and you have to get a new battery. Still, batteries are an expected maintenance cost that should be expected. This problem may come under the right to repair issues that have persued legislation against greedy business that prevent just anybody from fixing their own things that they have paid good money for.

Wrong. Bolt didn't secure investment funding and is now "scaling back" operations. In other words, they are going out of business.

@@jt8251 Doesn't matter it is still a Right to Repair issue!!!! See Louis Rossmann and the need for right to repair legislation!!!

@@OWK000 I think you missed the critical point here. Bolt is going out of business. All they can do at this point is reclaim the e-bikes to get them off the street. I imagine that is why the bikes were rendered inoperable. So they can eventually come pick them up.

@@jt8251 I think YOU are missing the critical point. These are E-bikes. It's not that complicated. Any Joe-fix-it dude should be able to get these rolling right. It is outrageous that just because a company is going out of business that their e-bikes are
unfixable. It does put the fear of evil wanna be big business in me, tho. I will be setting up my own e-bike thankyou. No pre-made with kill-switch built in for me!!! Heck I would consider buying one of these for salvage if it was cheap enough, and put new electronics on there. It's not like they are totally useless. It is a ripoff tho. Kill-switches like this should be illegal whether a business is going out-of-business or not.

Time to confiscate the bikes, maybe Bolt would respond then. If they don't, rebuild them and sue Bolt for fraud and damages, fixing them isn't going to be cheap. Tired of the taxpayers money getting stolen and wasted.
    Do something NOW!

On June 30, 2022, with equity investors failing to deliver on committed investment, Bolt Mobility was forced to significantly scale back operations. Prior to this decision, Bolt Mobility had every intention of remaining fully operational and even to expand into additional markets. Any suggestion otherwise is wholly inaccurate.
As of July 2022, independent owners/operators were running day-to-day operations in 25 of Bolt Mobility’s 33 markets-which enables these markets to continue to operate today. As for the eight markets still then-operated by Bolt Mobility headquarters, the intention had been to continue their respective operations via forthcoming, agreed-upon investment.

Bolt Mobility has worked and will continue to work with independent owners/operators to provide support in collecting any assets (bicycles and scooters) that remain in non-operational markets.

We greatly value and profoundly appreciate the extraordinary contributions Bolt Mobility employees, ambassadors, investors and partners have made in our efforts to provide safe, smart and sustainable transit solutions. Investors failing to deliver on their commitment toward funding Bolt Mobility in no way reflects upon our team’s substantial achievements of the last five years.

Bullshit. Your phones are set on loops, you never responded to inquiries or your customers and you sold defective products that you won't fix.
We're going to steal the bikes and hold them hostages until you get your act together.
      Try that.
