  • Join us on this exciting experience as we explore the oldest abandoned building I’ve ever stepped into. Built by a revolutionary war hero from the Virginia Militia.
A man named William Lindsay, who was a part of the Virginia militia and a contempolary of George
mason and George Washington, built this house in the 18th century. 1787.
Given the name Laurel Hill in honor of Lindsay’s original estate in northen Ireland.
The home saw many owners throughout the
    19th century.
in 190G a D.C. attorney Home Totter came into possession of the house.
It's believed several additions were made during his ownership.
By 1910, the D.C. Workhouse Prison was established near by.
In 1914 the federal government purchased the laurel Hill house, Becoming the residence of many different staff members of the
Prison, mainly its superintendents. Dubbing the house the Warden’s House.
More rooms were added at this time.
By the early 1970's, laurel Hill House had been vacated and abandoned.
In 2006 the house was added to the national register of Historic Places.
