There are two thoughts that come to mind ....brave and...." the psychiatrist will see you now!" Is it a mk2 . I had a MK1 with a GT6 engine with 5 1/2" J's back in the day and there weren't too many who could keep up with me on the Shaldon /Torquay coast road. It had many very tight corners and took a lot of mastering but very satisfying when executed well. Ah yes , memories! That road is now bastardised by speed limits, solid double white lines and speed bumps! Thank you very much.
I had a ‘67 2 litre Vitesse. Great engine, lousy rear end but a fun car to drive so long as you understood its limitations. Dad had a Mk 1, 2.5 PI. That was a lovely car, far better than the Mk 2 version. Could cruise on the motorway at an effortless “ton”, all day long and was predictably sure footed in a way the Vitesse wasn’t.
Really enjoyable - you handled her really well, nicely done. Brave as it's a MK1😊👍 Brings back happy memories of my Sprite, 1394cc, Weber etc, about 110bhp at the back wheels (so I was told), had it airborne like Sprinzel a few times too, it was quick and nibble, handled great (discs on the front etc and other mods). Also even into the 1980s, roads were still fun, risky, but hey, all about risk assessment/decision making (rather than a blind dash or mega risky overtakes). On a daily commute, with other, unknown, car enthusiasts, 'racing over the top of the Cotswolds' on the way home, a nod to each other on the roundabout at Burford (see you again on Monday sir). Now? I've a car with a small revvy engine, handles great, 60mph feels like 80mph, that way I keep my licence (I took a leaf out of James Hunt's book, iirc he a had a tweaked mini and a CF Bedford for the road, drove them flat out, avoided too many speeding tickets).😊😊👍👍
Keep the rpm up and you keep in the power, this engine is torquey low down so you can just potter, but the power is at the high end, especially if its tuned. For example Renault Douvrin 2.2 12vi vs 2.2i multipoint - 4000rpm vs 3200rpm max power and a 10hp difference but the Vi engine fuel economy is crap, just because of the tuning.
Always seriously underrated car, in my opinion.
Cracking vid. 😊

That sound ! Unforgettable. I had a GT6, same engine. The little Jag.
