So maybe all will enlist for national service at the same time with Jin - "let's go all together"? A hint? I thought they say this will be their last album for the year before they move on to something else?
All you have to do is research a little, and read a bit about Carl Jungs theories. It's pretty simple at the basic level, and BTS has kept it very basic.
So basically, bts told us no matter what u do in life, just trust/love yourself and your choices because this is your life and nobody else’s, wow. They’re like the best motivator in my life. Also, thank you for making these explained videos, it really helped me understand the music/music video and it also gave more depth to it.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
There's a little bit more than that, now that you put it that way, you're totally right, and it matches with what Namjoon said at the UN. Speak yourself. Like, you are your own person and the only one responsable of what you want to do and with your choices. Because, as kids we get denied or forced into things we don't want. Like, study certain career or practice something or stop practicing something and in the end, as adults, we can grow to regret stuff. And it's a really good message, both from the song and the speech, because as a young ARMY sometimes you have this problems, and as an adult ARMY you have regrets, and in the end, even with the things you didn't do, you are still you, and it's really something beautiful.
As someone who is a graduate student in Human Development and Family Studies, your analysis seems pretty accurate to me. Granted, I have limited knowledge on Jungian theory because psychoanalytic theories are not heavily focused on in my department. BUT Freud and Jung have a huge influence in the art therapy field (which is my bachelors degree) so I totally understand and love BTS's MV's on the psychology and artistic level!
I'm a (marriage) therapist. Ego is the important final step because it's the step you need to take before the "self". Jung theorizes that a person needs to be in their Ego majority of their adult life. It helps if you think of Ego as interchangeable as you find want you like and dont like which can change as you grow. You can only reach your "Self" (or self actualization if you like Maslow) when you have formed a healthy Ego. Now the Ego can be unhealthy if you develop unhealthy defenses and habits as well, in which case you will not be able to reach your Self. In a way, you can think of Ego as the Journey and the Self as the destination. Jung believed in a healthy journey for the majority of your life before the destination. Usually, when one talks about Jung, you have to talk about Freud bc Jung was his student. Jung didn't agree with most of Freud's theories, so most of Jung's theories are in counter of Freud. I hope this helps!
Katy Hart Yes, and individuation is a life-long journey. The ego is like the CEO so not a destination (Self) but rather an operating mechanism. It is the task of the ego to embrace and integrate the parts of the self including bringing the persona (outer/seen) and shadow (inner/unseen) into balance.
@@marygreer4036 So, to put it simply, one could say J-Hope represents the shadow and persona, the car is the ego taking you on a journey along the highway of life, and the city is individuation. :D
Carrie Cole, Not to my way of thinking. Individuation is a process, not a destination. The Self is the destination/destiny, which paradoxically, is the whole being, there from the beginning. The ego is the conscious driver versus the shadow that could be seen as what unconsciously drives you - like when you realize you’ve taken the wrong road because you weren’t paying attention or were caught up in road rage. The persona is your social vehicle or mask and is not really dealt with in the outro although a case could be made for the Kingsman clothing or all the bright colors making up JHope’s sunny disposition. The ego must learn to embrace the inner shadow and integrate it with the best outer qualities put forth in the persona.
Katy Hart Oh, I didn‘t know that Jung was Freuds student! But looking at Freuds constellations of the Psyche (as in _Es, Ich und Über-Ich_ ) and Jungs Map Of The Soul I can kind of see the correlation
Lol same One thing for sure is that I learned more here than I do in school, either he is very good at explaining (professor material) or I am too into this because it's related to BTS, or maybe both. Btw, some topics that I've learned in channel have been asked in classes and I was able to answer thanks to DKDKTV so thank you! 😂
I love how I can watch hours of people explaining BTS music videos, story lines, and learning korean so I can watch bangtan bombs but yet- I can't read 5 minutes of my science textbook before I end up back on youtube again.
Yeah.... yesterday i was looking for something about English but then I ended up on koreaboo.com and then on UA-cam and so in other words I should be doing school rn...
Tbh, if he is driving away from them, I think the signs could mean that J-hope knows his own way and doesn't need the signs to tell him the way because he trusts himself (and that wherever he goes and whatever choices he makes, its his own way) I could be completely off tho...😅
I think since every sign in that scene points to different directions ("One way" is to the right, "future" is straight, "follow your dream" is straight/right etc, only u-turns (turning back) is prohibited) it means that he can go anywhere he wants and it will become HIS way wherever he'll go (like the lyrics)
Have you known in the history of music there being a group that has their fans analyzing every song they sing? BTS has accomplished this. We are actually thinking about self, and things around us. Thanks, David for the analysis .🙏
The only other group I can think of that had influence their fans in a similar way is the Beatles. They spoke out on social issues at the time. It's legend behavior, we been known 💅
@@Miraiana I think they could get far if they used different types of media. For example, BTS has a webtoon. If their company pushed the storyline using different types of media, maybe more people could be exposed to it.
@@Miraiana but loona dont make their own music right. Its all done by their company. Its all manufactured. But BTS make their own lyrics and study what they want to convey to fans through their songs.
@@casieg.7040 From 2015-2018, BTS only use videos to convey the storyline. Loona universe sound intriguing but i feel disconnected with their music probably because they dont make own music and all done by the company. Plus, they have too many members. If they only have 4-6members only, they probably get more famous. They definitely have hardcore fandom as i always saw that stan loona everywhere. But tbh, i found their music just okay. Its about time for girl groups make own music. So, i found mamamoo and g idle music are more relatable. G idle tho lack of storyline. They are the one actually have biggest potential to be more famous. Soyeon talent is no joke.
In Halsey's song 'Suga's Interlude' Suga had a line there which says," Whatever the path I take is the path I choose" I think this song is also linked in the album
the connection you made to Answer: Love Myself is so interesting... you're right, the ideas are very similar. Its cool to see the same message within the different contexts of the LY series and MOTS, serving two different purposes/meanings
EGO: It refers to the psychic instance that encompasses a set of ideas, feelings and perceptions of a conscious type and with which we identify. Jung pointed out that knowledge of the ego-personality is often confused with self-understanding. Anyone who has any ego-consciousness at all takes it for granted that he knows himself. But the ego knows only its own contents, not the unconscious and its contents. People measure their self-knowledge by what the average person in their social environment knows of himself, but not by the real psychic facts which are for the most part hidden from them.
Diana Carolina Mera Vélez I want to give you two thumbs up 👍👍 for providing your comments in a second language as well. One of the things that I dislike about YT is that it isn’t accessible to translation software. It doesn’t have a link to use within the comment, AND I can’t copy/paste it into a translation app. I literally would have to take a pic & import it into a program that way. I know machine translation is crappy - but a lot of times I can get at least the gist of what is said. And I can’t learn all the languages in the world. Anyway, I hope other bilingual YTers will take this cue from you and do the same thing!! I would if I could - but I can’t write ASL.
What if JHope was doing the Ego part, because Yoongi did the Shadow, and RM the Persona ? Ego was the only one missing, and all this song's help you to be yourself. It could also represents the demons of the 3 boys. RM always had trouble to accept and love himself. Yoongi go through depression, and social anxiety, he always fight is shadows. JHope is someone who loves himself, enjoy is life as an idol, and live is dream, and can't stop thinking "what if" I've understood the song this way, with the two others songs
In addition to what you said, it would seem that they already addressed the Anima-Animus with Boy with Luv... Now all that's left would be Individuation-Self.
Eshiett Deborah I think the Love Yourself highlight reels first covered the Anima-Animus part of Jung’s theory. But yes! I feel like they can be related to BWL in some way..
I’m telling you man I think that BTS has one of the best messages out there- Loving yourself the one thing you need the most to shape who you are and who you will become in the future
Just two snippets of linguistic detail you may want to know: EGO is simply the (Ancient) Greek word meaning "I, me". (εγω ειμι = I am) ID is the Latin word meaning "it, this, that". It is not an abbreviation or acronym. Oh, and the first GOD shown is the Old Norse Óðinn (Odin, Wotan). His role is complex, but among other things, he is the god of poetry, magic and religious ecstasy. Not only did he give us the runic alphabet, but he also stole the mead of poetry from the giants, and brought it into the world of gods and humans. His two ravens are Huginn (Mind) and Muninn (Memory). All poetry is his domain, so he would definitely be the rappers' divinity, if anyone is! Old Norse poetry was not composed on paper, but was passed on orally, and meant to be proclaimed by the bards. There may have been a musical factor involved, but we actually know next to nothing about this ... ###
The second image is of Hobi as Mithras slaying the bull which is central to the ancient Roman mystery religion called Mithraism. It was a specifically Roman version of Mazdaism (Zoroastrianism) as compared to the Persian rotes and rituals.
thank you for sharing the ancient greek meaning behind ego... indic understanding of dharma also shares ego/haumay to be the illusion of a separate "I" or that "I am" as you state its meaning. I see so many interconnections between dharma/spirituality and psychological understanding here! :)
@@japneetkaur7933 Glad to be of help. In the analytical psychology of Jung, spirituality and psychological insight are often more or less the same thing! ###
Now everything makes sense. Intro: Shadow Your Shadow it's a part of you, and you can't deny it Black Swan: You have to face and embrace your Shadow in order to love yourself Outro:Ego Once you become aware of all the parts of your soul, you can face every challenge and make everything your way Thank you so much DKDKTV for your thoughtful videos, love you guys!!
BTS made music fun again, at least in my opinion. I love some western artists but I've never waited so long for their songs and etc. Also the way the boys connect with fans and how genuine they are is something completely different. They’re very humble event being crazy famous, they don’t act like celebrities and this is so rare to see nowadays
The Love Yourself trilogy was to make us love ourselves, and the Map of the Soul series is for BTS to discover who they are and thus accept and love themselves. That's it.
Has nobody noticed when J-hope walked/danced next to the wall with paintings that there were a lightened room in that building? It could be Yoongi in I Need U in his burning room
Thank you for the explanation, not only this one but for all your hard work (both you and Danny)! BTS have been helping me get to know myself and your explaining is a part of that help. God blees you guys and 'you nice, keep going" ♥
🤣🤣🤣. Same! I’m reading all the comments thinking to myself, “Wow…ARMY is so smart.” Meanwhile, I’m just happy J-Hope is happy. 🤣🥲😭😭😭. I’m such a simpleton
One of my favorite things about Jung is how far ahead of his time he was. He totally got that the way society approaches gender is SUPER unhealthy because we suppress big parts of who we are in order to conform and that leads to problems with our shadow later.
@@BentonRox the whole gender identity structure in our society is really freaking unhealthy. We literally restrict ourselves from being what we are with ideas of "femininity" and "masculinity" (among other things). We just can't help ourselves but divide and categorize everything, unfortunately 😔
How does this work in relation to bts tho? Is it, superficially, their disregard for gendered clothing, as in they wear what they like, or is it deeper? I honestly wasn't sure what was being implied by talking about a closet...I mean, there is the obvious but is that applied to Hobi or just people in general? I don't want to jump to conclusions from the reference
pink noonicorn it’s because they’ve stated times and times before that they don’t care for stereotypical what is “manly” and what is “girly”. They just do/wear/speak whatever the hell they want to as humans disregarding gender structures and stereotypes.
@@lightefilit so yes, it's superficially their disregard for gendered clothing etc. nothing deeper about themselves, which was my actual question. I realise that's a really big thing to a lot of people still tho.
I love how all of jhope's songs sound so bright and cheery while in reality carry very profound meanings. Mama's still the best one though, the cheery song got me crying everytime
The message i got from the song is for us to be happy we have to accepted who we are first to now because that’s who we are and we should be proud of ourselves including the sides we ignore because that’s a part of us.
Jhope was the perfect choice for Explaining the 'Ego' in the Mots7 as Jhope is the most funny, shiny personality when inside this a person has suffered a lot of pain that's why Jhope was Perfect In compensating Ego.
Ppl who don't know what bts has been up to these last few years and are just seeing this mv or hearing the song must be like 'sick melody, but what the heck is up with all this ego stuff??' :") (personally, I srsly love this song and can't stop listening to it)
I’m really curious to know who makes these ideas for their MV (he must be really smart 🙌🏼)... I know that Bts writes and produces their music but I know that they don’t really stay behind the ideas for their MV
Very impressive explanation of EGO! I had some psychology in college which I found interesting but it takes in depth studies to really get a grasp of this science. I am surprised and amazed by BTS members coming up with theories of this magnitude. I am also pretty amazed by you seeing this so easily. I totally agree with your assessment and explanation. This just makes me admire BTS more again and again. I just can't grasp how these young men that work and practice around the clock have time to have such knowledge even with a genius among them. Surely RM isn't the only genius? It seems like several of them are if not all 7.
Among the "Korean" things that I have been led to beginning with bingewatching on Kdrama to following BTS, listening to this "explain" channel is my favorite. Keep it up guys.
6:22 i personally think that this part indicated how hobi used to question parts of himself , like a persona for armys , a shadow for himself etc as the lyrics in the part says “Oppressions all resolved (for the 7 years of hardwork part like he became successful so now his oppressions are all resolved) Into my heart come answers from my most trusted (this comes right before the one soul part)” i think this means that people who are really close to him or fans , they told him or made him realise that he need not question himself , that his soul , his smile , his hope , they’re all part of himself , that he’s a combination of everything and that’s okay
this is exactly why i love bts, they don’t just throw random words together and call it a song they really think deep about lyrics and how it affects them and armys. 💜
I remember learning about the psyche in my mythology class in college (we were learning about the "hero" or "villain" pysche and how they're shadows of each other) and that chart just brings flashbacks 🤣
Fucking stunning. Just an incredibly stunning artistic statement by J-Hope and BTS. I agree with your analysis completely. I'm so beyond thrilled that Hoseok was the one to bring this to life... and like you said on your reaction, he was absolutely the only one who could have.
This is brilliant. I’ve been fascinated by Carl Jung’s theory and concepts for awhile and BTS presented really well. It’s much deeper than the way you presented but BTS pretty much outlined the whole concept. Props to showing the clip of Dr. Jordan B. Peterson. I love the man and he truly changed my life. Please, if you want to know more about Jungian concepts, watch his lectures. He’s an expert on it and a brilliant man. Jordan Peterson really is an eye opening person with all his lectures on life, philosophy and psychology on his UA-cam channel. I was astonished and couldn’t stop laughing with joy with that clip of Peterson. So thank you for that and this video explaining it. Following BTS since 2015 on this journey was and is amazing. Looking forward to the future~ 💜
I'll repeat myself. I appreciate your comments and will probably go back and read more of them. I am impressed that such young men already know so much about self acceptance. I wonder if their resident genius, RM, has had any influence on this direction. I do know that it is extremely healthy to openly express the what ifs and conflicts so that negative emotions don't grow inside you. I'm 63 yrs and I don't believe my acceptance of my past decisions came in my early 20s. With these added thoughts I appreciate BTS music even more.
"So simply Ego means discovering yourself and loving yourself" explains alot. Thank you for your explanations. You are so genius. I wish I had bit of brain to understand their music but I will take your help. Thanks again. X
Great explanation and summary of Jung's theory. The struggle to accept your life choices is real and hard. In my 40's and still struggling to accept and just move forward without constantly revisiting my regrets.
The details you pointed out in the MV made me appreciate bts more. The details of the MV show just how much work went into even the tiniest details. Remember that this song is "outro: ego," as in, it is the outro of the whole album. So the message here, I believe, also applies not only to jhope but perhaps to the rest of the members as well. The vibe of this song is just so unique and fresh, while sincerely talking about their story.
I haven't started my med school psychiatry lessons... we've only had an intro session in the law aspect... but I read the Map Of The Soul Persona - Our Many Faces (an analysis of Jungian concepts by Murray Stein) and from the book, there is a map that portrays how all the aspects of the Jungian concept play out into the world. Here, he mentions archetypes and complexes in many small ways that exist, but the biggest one is the self (complex) and it's archetype, Ego. He says that according to his analysis of Jung's work, he feels that Ego is the actual self identity, but persona is the mask we put on over it. Shadow being the dark side that also exists in us and is hidden by the mask (persona) in conclusion, we still study/analyse the outside world using our ego with a fitting persona for them to see. An example would be how BTS never lost their identity (Ego) when they went to their Saudi concert, but they had to put on an apt persona according to the customs there just to not create conflict in the outside world. Their shadows on the other hand are like the interlude (Their whole past, filled with fear) Oops- I rambled... sorry-
This video got added to my "brainstuff" playlist. Basically a list of videos that help me think about who I am, where I'm going, how my brain functions, etc. I loved my psych classes in school, and this threw me back into that mindset hard. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I feel like I've been given the best/worst homework assignment ever though because now I want to sit down with my own life and find my own center.
Awesome job David! Love the fact that each member got to talk about their own journey in the songs. Seems like Bang PD gave them the topic and study materials then they go write their songs. BTS is a school for life journey.
I think the fact that he goes the opposite way of the signs has meaning. Bc to know himself, to get *through the shadow* , after of course breaking through the persona,he has to face it first, to do so he has to look back into his life and himself(hence him driving the opposite way)... only then he can finally get to the ego. This whole journey is not easy so to do so he has to not only look inside himself but also look at his past and present, to understand himself. I really appreciate you guys' explanations. You and Bookish Theories(she linked also bangtan universe in her explanation) are the most relayable.
what I love about BTS can fill a whole page but I really enjoy how they make you ruminate and absorb deep things. I have reached a stage in life where I am 90% fine with how I turned out, though it has taken decades to get there. it pleases me to see how these young men have come so far so fast. I have no doubt they will go on to live long, fulfilling, centered, and balanced lives. BTW, DKDKTV you did an EXCELLENT job in this analysis!
David....this is why I've always followed you. Your insights are smart. Thank you for paying attention to the right details. I love this video. And I love the messages in Hope's ego video. Well done man!!! -Army

your words at the end really hit home with me; this video really hit home for me. BTS' music leaves me feeling understood and seen. that I am not what my trauma has scarred me into believing I'm not meant to belong here or that I'm so odd and because of that, that means I will never make any lasting connections. I appreciate these videos a lot. K-Pop has provided me with a never ending support. I'm an emotional guy, so know that if I sound dramatic I don't mean to be. when I am moved I have to tell why in a high degree of detail so that way it will make someone feel warm. it's hard for me to show gratitude bc I am afraid to put others off or to be judged. all in all; I needed this, thank you very much.
Thank you so much for the explanation. It amazes me everytime to know that there's such a deeper meaning to a korean song.Your explanation made me fell in love with the BTS and the korean culture even more. Keep doing what you do. You are AMAZING!💜
I don't think the "closet" Theory is right, I thought they only wanted to do the kingsman scene. And hoseok going through the door confidently means he accepted his choices fully and is confident.
Shadow is the intro while ego is the outro. If you look at the diagram, shadows connects to the inner world and ego connects to the outer world while self is in the center - I read that as BTS discovered themselves through this MOTS album while going through the journey of bringing their inner self (shadow) - discover themselves (self) - present this to the outer world (ego) so this is an album that reveals their problems, struggles, identities and everything is composed in their music.
Always thankful for these deep dives, especially for EGO, what I took away from song from mere translation did the song no justice. Just made me love the song even more❤️
This is something that I read in my literary theory paper about human psyche on Psychoanalysis in college. It is so overwhelming to see something like this used in a music video. This indeed makes me appreciate K-pop even more for the effort they put behind every music video..so creative while also being meaningful. I am loving BTS seeing this explanation videos.💜

I think I learned more from these explanation videos of persona, shadow and ego than I did in my entire time at school. Thanks for the hard work. This is a great video and BTS' songs are phenomenal!!
Omg this is really deep. I really respect all the work and thought and soul bts is putting in their music. And it’s wonderful because for ages boy bands have been perceived as a product, catchy songs and pretty faces and music with no particular sense (no shame in consuming that kind of music) and what this band is doing is proving it can be different. Breaking stereotypes. And I respect and love that. Btw, I love this “explained” videos and I love your channel and you guys. Greetings from México.

The persona is your social vehicle or mask and is not really dealt with in the outro although a case could be made for the Kingsman clothing or all the bright colors making up JHope’s sunny disposition. The ego must learn to embrace the inner shadow and integrate it with the best outer qualities put forth in the persona.
The Ego suppresses the shadow because it doesn't want to acknowledge the dark aspects of the self. One cannot really trust the Ego.

Oh, I didn‘t know that Jung was Freuds student!
But looking at Freuds constellations of the Psyche (as in _Es, Ich und Über-Ich_ ) and Jungs Map Of The Soul I can kind of see the correlation
Me: listening to bts songs and all the theories
Mom: what u doin?
Me: maa, I'm studyn psychology!
😂😂😂😂 I love this
for real
THE FACT that I just said this shjshjshjk

Don't you just love learning about this stuff because of BTS and dkdktv like you more interested to this then learning in actual school like what!!
Yupp you are right
I'm a teacher... And I get your meaning :))
true. .
Yessssss
Lol same
One thing for sure is that I learned more here than I do in school, either he is very good at explaining (professor material) or I am too into this because it's related to BTS, or maybe both.
Squishy hahahahaha me too
Isn't everyone I guess we intend to focus more on what we're interested in
Yeah.... yesterday i was looking for something about English but then I ended up on koreaboo.com and then on UA-cam and so in other words I should be doing school rn...
literally me lmao
that is me
Tbh, if he is driving away from them, I think the signs could mean that J-hope knows his own way and doesn't need the signs to tell him the way because he trusts himself (and that wherever he goes and whatever choices he makes, its his own way)
I could be completely off tho...😅
Huh! That is a pretty cool, insightful conclusion. 😀
Maybe the signs saying Future is is superego/what he feels he's obligated to do and so he ignores it.
I love this interpretation
I think since every sign in that scene points to different directions ("One way" is to the right, "future" is straight, "follow your dream" is straight/right etc, only u-turns (turning back) is prohibited) it means that he can go anywhere he wants and it will become HIS way wherever he'll go (like the lyrics)
@@lenn452 Except U-turn, is a NO, prohibited. You just have to move on, even in the opp direction, against popular opinions if you trust yourself.
Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
In Halsey's song 'Suga's Interlude' Suga had a line there which says," Whatever the path I take is the path I choose"
I think this song is also linked in the album
the connection you made to Answer: Love Myself is so interesting... you're right, the ideas are very similar.
Oh geeze my mind cant handle this all info somone plz summarize it for me 😢
What if JHope was doing the Ego part, because Yoongi did the Shadow, and RM the Persona ? Ego was the only one missing, and all this song's help you to be yourself. It could also represents the demons of the 3 boys. RM always had trouble to accept and love himself. Yoongi go through depression, and social anxiety, he always fight is shadows. JHope is someone who loves himself, enjoy is life as an idol, and live is dream, and can't stop thinking "what if"
I've understood the song this way, with the two others songs
I was thinking of this as well especially that their songs are somewhat connected to their solos and mixtapes.
@@itsgonnarain135.. I think that's pretty obvious, no😅?
In addition to what you said, it would seem that they already addressed the Anima-Animus with Boy with Luv...
Now all that's left would be Individuation-Self.
Eshiett Deborah I think the Love Yourself highlight reels first covered the Anima-Animus part of Jung’s theory. But yes! I feel like they can be related to BWL in some way..
I’m telling you man I think that BTS has one of the best messages out there- Loving yourself the one thing you need the most to shape who you are and who you will become in the future
beautiful, yes it starts with u
Just two snippets of linguistic detail you may want to know:
EGO is simply the (Ancient) Greek word meaning "I, me". (εγω ειμι = I am)
ID is the Latin word meaning "it, this, that".

GREEK ARMY WHERE YOU ATT

Now everything makes sense.
Intro: Shadow
Your Shadow it's a part of you, and you can't deny it
Black Swan:
You have to face and embrace your Shadow in order to love yourself
Outro:Ego
Once you become aware of all the parts of your soul, you can face every challenge and make everything your way
Thank you so much DKDKTV for your thoughtful videos, love you guys!!
what... you're telling me that the “numerous stars” that they mentioned in answer: love myself is actually.... us?
CRIES
Wait so did he sell his soul to the devil 👁👄👁

In any MV if a member is alone and if they show a galaxy that represents ARMY
When I saw the tailor shop, the first thing I thought of was Kingsman. Didn't realize it was actually connected. Nice.
As a psychology major, I can tell this explanation is really good, and they pointed out some things which I missed. Very good work👍👍👍
BTS made music fun again, at least in my opinion.
Bts made me curious about psychology, but you guys have convinced me to buy the book haha. Excelent job
I started reading it. It's really insightful.
Can I know which book ? This made me interested 😁
Chloe Nahon hehe the Map of the Soul book, all this era is based in that psychology book
Thank you 😊😊
can you give me a review??
Y’all over here dissecting all these wonderful theories and I’m just over here like “oh Hobi looks real cute in this MV”
I’m big dumb
LITERALLY I JJST BE LIKE “i love this man’s smile” 😭
🤣🤣🤣. Same! I’m reading all the comments thinking to myself, “Wow…ARMY is so smart.”
Meanwhile, I’m just happy J-Hope is happy. 🤣🥲😭😭😭. I’m such a simpleton
Gender identity thing is so true tho, i really haven’t thought my desire to read Jung and Freud like 2 years ago would help me with BTS
I’m literally crying, Jhope is so amazing 🥺❤️
The message i got from the song is for us to be happy we have to accepted who we are first to now because that’s who we are and we should be proud of ourselves including the sides we ignore because that’s a part of us.
Jhope was the perfect choice for Explaining the 'Ego' in the Mots7 as Jhope is the most funny, shiny personality when inside this a person has suffered a lot of pain that's why Jhope was Perfect In compensating Ego.
Great work as always. It's so interesting to see the similarities and the differences between the explanation/theory videos on the BTS songs
Wow! David...your brain... *It amazes me*
This reminds me of Shooky's grandpa
"life is a series of making choices, have faith in your choices, always"
Ppl who don't know what bts has been up to these last few years and are just seeing this mv or hearing the song must be like 'sick melody, but what the heck is up with all this ego stuff??' :") (personally, I srsly love this song and can't stop listening to it)
This song is deeper than I let’s on. It looks so cute and fun, but it’s also very meaningful
This song is how Jhope learned "I don't care"
It will never cease to amaze me that BTS are basically a prog rock band stunting as a boy group.
I’m really curious to know who makes these ideas for their MV (he must be really smart 🙌🏼)... I know that Bts writes and produces their music but I know that they don’t really stay behind the ideas for their MV
I think Bang PDnim and Lumpens are the key characters in the universe building
Bang PD is the one that came up with the whole bts universe. He is a genius man
Thank you for informing me ❤️
I remember Yoongi said something about wanting to stay a boy and bang pd got the idea from that and was inspired to start all the HYYH story line
I can't remember exactly but I read somewhere bang pd studied philosophy(?)
So basically from LOVING MYSELF to TRUSTING MYSELF....💜
Thank you so much for this, David. I really appreciate all of your hard work to better educate us!
I am learning so much from a pop band. Seriously can't believe it. I am glad I became an ARMY this year. Better late than never.
It seems like several of them are if not all 7.
j-hope's music sounds upbeat and fun, but the lyrics are often serious and dark. i love his different songwriting styles.
Among the "Korean" things that I have been led to beginning with bingewatching on Kdrama to following BTS, listening to this "explain" channel is my favorite. Keep it up guys.
6:22 i personally think that this part indicated how hobi used to question parts of himself , like a persona for armys , a shadow for himself etc as the lyrics in the part says “Oppressions all resolved (for the 7 years of hardwork part like he became successful so now his oppressions are all resolved)
Into my heart come answers from my most trusted (this comes right before the one soul part)” i think this means that people who are really close to him or fans , they told him or made him realise that he need not question himself , that his soul , his smile , his hope , they’re all part of himself , that he’s a combination of everything and that’s okay
thank you for always putting so much effort in all your videos. thank you for educating us and dissecting bts' songs :'''')
this is exactly why i love bts, they don’t just throw random words together and call it a song they really think deep about lyrics and how it affects them and armys. 💜
I remember learning about the psyche in my mythology class in college (we were learning about the "hero" or "villain" pysche and how they're shadows of each other) and that chart just brings flashbacks 🤣
6:39 "oh and don't miss the chickens from CNS" i don't know why that was funny to me ajdhkaf
This just became my favourite breakdown. So well thought out and explained with an uplifting message at the end. Thank you!!
"So simply Ego means discovering yourself and loving yourself" explains alot. Thank you for your explanations. You are so genius. I wish I had bit of brain to understand their music but I will take your help. Thanks again. X
10:37 A wild jordan peterson appears
You helped us understand the cultural perspectives and what the Korean words meant. That was important to understand the video.
5:55 the sign changes from Hope Records to Hopes Record, but if you look closely it changes back
Great explanation and summary of Jung's theory.
Their shadows on the other hand are like the interlude (Their whole past, filled with fear)
Oops- I rambled... sorry-
I'm always waiting for your BTS mv explanation since I watched your explanation on their Ddaeng song..You are amazing..Thank you so much..
This makes me think 100x about myself.. My ego, my shadow & my persona. Thx DKDKTV & BTS
I never thought Ego would hit me like this... It's beautiful 🥺🥺
-Army
Words are not enough to explain the impact of BTS on my life. It all started to get better once I became an ARMY.
I love all of your videos but definitely this is my favorite by far. Thanks!!
Forget all theories only stick to dkdk explanation👏👏👏👏
Thank u so much for this one it truly gave my a clear image of wt love myself exactly means
When you said he's done with "what if" and start to approach what he has now made my realize that i should be doing the same now despite all the regrets that i have for my past choices
Just pick it up from where l am now and try my best
These explained videos bring the kind of perspective I have never heard before . I'm thankful that I exist in the same timeline as BTS
your words at the end really hit home with me; this video really hit home for me.
I love how you explain everything and understand the point of view from BTS but also yours too.
Ok. I teared up a little bit. I love how BTS makes their songs so meaningful
me: aww ego is such a hobi song I feel so hap-
the metaphors/lyrics in the mv : hold my tea
Thank you so much for the explanation. It amazes me everytime to know that there's such a deeper meaning to a korean song.Your explanation made me fell in love with the BTS and the korean culture even more.
Keep doing what you do.
You are AMAZING!💜
BTS has shown us so many layers, it would be difficult for us to unravel by ourselves.
Good thing we're not alone, ARMY. 💜
I find myself so amazed by the intricacies of their work, and how you picked so many details. wow.
Just made me love the song even more❤️
Fav UA-camrs hands down. Pure QUALITY content. Thank you.
Just so you know... DKDTV is the ONLY channel I DONT hit skip ad on... You guys work hard and you help us to understand everything behind the music and I greatly appreciate it!
You guys are the best in explaining: very informative and well delivered. Most importantly it’s very professionally portrayed which can go far in these days of UA-cam since many comes off so amateurishly, really appreciate your polished content.
I think I learned more from these explanation videos of persona, shadow and ego than I did in my entire time at school. Thanks for the hard work. This is a great video and BTS' songs are phenomenal!!
Bruh I thought I was the only one who noticed the kingsman reference, I love that movie lol
The way you explained it and that last part where you are giving your opinion ...made me really happy ...great job guys ....and thank you so much!!!!!!!
When you talked at the very end about the final message of accepting yourself... I started crying because there are still many things I am ashamed of and afraid to acknowledge. Loving yourself is really hecking difficult.
Anyways, I have not completed my psychology studies yet but I agree with pretty much everything you said in this video 😊
Beautiful 👏👏👏👏👏🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 let’s pray this whole album makes it and breaks through 👏👏😭👏👏👏👏🥺👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😭👏👏👏😭😭😭😭
I LOVE THE WAY BTS PRODUCES THESE GOOD THEORIES IN THEIR SONGS
Man. I SWEAR I don't learn as much at my university as I learn from BTS' art. Everytime I watch their theories I get blown away. Like, I don't know how to explain this but they seem to find me in my hardest time and help me out. I am never leaving this Fandom. At least not before BTS is gone 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Also, thank you guys for your hard work. Your channel is rockin😊
I’ve always been interested in psychology and the fact that bts corporates this into their music is so amazing! Never seen an artist do the things bts does
