Have missed the last few episodes that you put out So decided to finish up a bit earlier today (kids and wife away for a couple of hours)😂 Bliss total bliss 👍 We all have those types of projects, wether our own, wife’s projects or our fathers projects. We just get on and do our best. But I like your thinking off the new layout 👍 Love the videos keep them coming and keep well 👍
I agree with your idea of getting the silo back in use in reality there’s only one way the price of baling is going to go and that’s up . Even if you put the bulk of the silage into the silo and make a few bales youl save a fortune you’ve def no shortage of tractors for cutting silage !!!
Hi Cathal. Great to see the future plans for the farm. You can never have enough sheds around the place. Would you gain enough storage space for the machinery in the silage clamp with a combination of the extension of shed no 5 and a loft/mezzanine in the "red shed"? Would be a lot cheaper than the new machinery shed🤷♂️. If ye were to go ahead with the machinery shed, could it be put free standing to the other side of the roadway, it would save the entrance being moved. A simple lean to, open fronted could do the job. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Eamon, some great ideas there. We had always talked about putting a Mezz floor in the workshop area as that shed has the height. Also both side walls are concrete for support. Could do same in Red shed for sure but would be very shallow head height at the bottom side or left side as you walk in the door. I think if the garage was tidied up and once the 698T comes out there will be machinery storage to the rear there. A free standing shed to the bottom side could also work.👍👍👍
I'm the same as yourself could do with more shed space but again like you our yard is a mixture of old and relatively new but built on a hill and levels are an issue but from what I seen I'd be thinking of putting a shed in where the lorry trailer is sitting looks a relatively flat area not alot of site work/ digger work to sort that out ( hopefully) and it is beside the yard you use for the sheep could double up as a sheep shed and maybe machinery at least for part of the year but best of luck with what ever yous decide to do
A good idea Declan and you not the first to say that the space where the container is can be used for a free standing shed. Defo worth a closer look. Thanks for the ideas.👍👍
Hi man interesting video. 2 comments. Why put a concrete floor in the tractor shed if it’s just for storing tractors. The concret just gets oil with leaks etc. project 4 could be cheaper if u extended the shed with a sloping roof and keep the long side of the shed open or swing doors. Having the long side of the shed open allows handy access to the machinery with out too much moving. It’s all money these days where things are not very affordable.
Thanks Marcus I really like your idea of keeping the long side open. I never thought of that and it would be cheaper as you say. The floor in the tractor shed is to allow us to work at the tractors, do more refurbs, can put them on axel stands better if sitting on concrete rather than dirt. At present it is working fine though without any concrete.👍👍
Very interesting video looking forward to seeing what projects you decide to do we are trying to plan a small cattle shed as we rent a shed which is well past it's best but will have to see what the costs are going to be that will be interesting 🤔
Thought you were going to make a landing strip for the plane there Cathal instead of storage space for bales. Good luck with whatever building you decide to do 👍✈️
I’d save your money putting a concrete floor in the tractor shed just put some nice hardcore in and roll it. Put a small concrete apron to the front. As for the old hay shed and old building with slate roof why not knock it down and put up another useful shed like a 80/60x40 Dutch barn. If you went through the place and got rid of stuff you don’t need and taking up space like that old car ect would maybe free up space. I know we all like to keep stuff and tell ourselves we will need that or we will sort that but realistic we will probably never get round to it.
thanks, there seems to be a general opinion that concrete floor is a waste of money in the tractor shed and I may have to agree with that. Money could be better spent in other areas or other projects. You spot on, a good clear out would free up some space. 👍👍
I know your the flying Fergie man and I love the tractor content, but my personal favourites are the construction and improvement videos. Looking forward to seeing these projects moving forward. Not happy about the midnight uploads of the videos recently, ruining my streak of being the first to comment…
Interesting video 🤔 instant money savings for your plans ,,,,,,,get rid of the woolly buggers 🐑🐑 and make more money by renting out your sheep land 😁😁👍
Great video Cathal.. I dont think any of us have a day go by where we dont have great construction plans floating around our heads. How about you sell me some of those masseys at a knock down price to help you fund construction? 😂😂
@FlyingFergyMan I've no need for cattle or sheep sheds, so it just a new workshop, precision machine shop, parts store, paint booth, chemical store and new machinery shed.. I'd be happy with that 🤑🤑

Thanks Donal. Maybe someday there will be a decent profit in farming 👍👍
Great stuff Cathal, can beat more sheds especially where you are so close to the sea 🌊
Correct, best place for the kit when u by the sea is inside.👍👍

Thanks WJ. There are a few tractors that should get the job done.👍👍

@FlyingFergyMan makes sense, would be interesting to see the figures on the cost of bales v's pit silage. Could make the decision easier 🤔
Great vid today. A lot of work. Will look forward to seeing the vids on it!!!
Thanks Barry. Hopefully get started soon.👍
Great video Cathal lots of work ahead for you
Thanks Philip, always plenty of work and jobs at our place.👍👍

Big plans afoot 👍👍 plenty to think about
yes sure is...budget will dictate the final outcome I suppose, like anything, all comes down to costs.👍
Have you thought about polytunnel for sheep shed and handling area.
No never thought of it...must look into it to see how it would work. Thanks for the idea.👍
Not this year, may be next year! Next year is only 8 weeks away.😆🤭. looking forward to the videos.👍

Interesting video 🤔 instant money savings for your plans ,,,,,,,get rid of the woolly buggers 🐑🐑 and make more money by renting out your sheep land 😁😁👍

Cattle jobs look to be the ones you be going for ,can't wait to see the crush job,I'd say ye will do a sweet job of them all, no bother to ye
Cheers Pat, all being well they will probably be the most likely to start.
Why not extend the current red shed with project 2 instead of project 4? Leave drive as is
Would have to divert some water courses but could be done.👍👍
How many sheep have you.
Hundreds of the buggers...too many😂
