As a pure archer build with little else for alternate strategy, what saved me and allowed me to get this boss defeated was the "getting on to the mountain outside of the ring" strategy. A combo of the stun arrows and obsidian arrows worked out pretty good. I was able to avoid most of his attacks and I was able to one hit his little minions. Great video! Thanks!
There is a spot on the bigger mountain that you can just chill on. The dragon never flies high enough so every single fire attack miss's, and his gust attack don't send you anywhere as you have a hill against your back. If you are still worried, you can pickaxe yourself a small nook and enjoy.
@@jamesgleick when in doubt cheese it out.... legit did not understand what the hell to do with this boss and sat back and bashed em with about 500 arrows....
I love that you used music that would be used in an orientation video for a company, really cracked me up 🤣 Great guide, did not realize you could knock the rocks back to him! Reminds me of the Gannon fight in Ocarina of Time!
Wow ranged builds have it super easy in this fight! I've got a hybrid melee magic build but I don't do enough magic damage to spam safely from the mountain side. Your melee build strategy is awesome! Going to try it out.
Yeah they pretty much ignored the melee classes. Parrying those projectiles is not an effective way to stun and those stun arrows suck with how many you have to use if you're a melee build (not a lot of dexterity).
@@michaelhuegel4146 Tank, Barbarian, Warrior plus few utility branches. And to be honest the whole game suggests that you can play however you like, which til the Dragon fight goes well. Then it just says: yea, full melee? get rekt sucker! It is really annoying and very bad design. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole fight will get reworked in the future.
Personally, I’ve put a temporary hold on the “defeat dragon” goal until I can boost my level more and possibly get more perks. I’ve never been great at any kind of in game combat - except for my stealth archer build in Skyrim - for my enshrouded character I’ve consequently been going melee tank/archer - seeing as they seem to know precisely where you are the second you shoot them regardless of stealth perks (at least so far), so when they come for me after attracting their attention with an arrow to the head I can tank them while I hack at their feet. (The cyclops and others of that size) I struggle enough with the combat in enshrouded that I’ve been playing on easy mode. I don’t really like the key binds but haven’t been able to decide on better ones. It’s stuffed up my muscle memory for playing Minecraft. 😂 I really should search all my boxes (I have a lot of stuff in storage) for my pc controller. Would improve my combat ability at least a bit. (It’s the inbuilt easy mode I use not a custom one - I could probably customise the difficulty even easier just for the dragon but I don’t wanna do that.)
I have a hybrid mage/Ranger build (basically I have almost all mage skills unlocked along with certain select ranger skills that give me decent ranged damage & high mobility). I am a bit of a glass cannon (only have a bit over 1000 HP with the beef stew & 2 Rings of the Ancients), but I can usually yeet myself out of the way of the various attacks. As for the one attack that stuns, that kept getting me until I remembered I had emergency blink (doh!), then I just blink out & glide to the opposite side of the arena to recover & pelt him with stun arrows until he gets back in close enough I can start zapping him with eternal chain lightning, which fills up his stun bar almost as much as parrying one of his projectiles (the +65% ranged damage I have from my partial ranger spec definitely helps with the stun arrows, though!) Also, when he is stunned, due to the fact that I have over 22 INT with all buffs & rings up, eternal chain lightning (which has a 1s cast time) does like ~6000 damage on average per hit when the boss is down. I basically only have to down the boss twice or three times to finish it off. I also have my 4 main eternal spells (chain lightning, ice bolt, heal channel & fireball) on my hotbar, so I can switch to them faster than using the scroll wheel & q (I can actually change equipped spells while gliding or running with this method), so I can switch to eternal heal channel to recover and when the adds spawn, I can take the entire group out with a well-placed fireball (I have collateral damage & mass destruction & both ranks of sun aura, which helps with those), then switch back to eternal chain lightning/stun arrows to start refilling the boss' stun bar. I am planning on trying the cheese strat with eternal fireball after downing him at least once (after downing the boss once, all your spells & other ranged attacks do full damage instead of scratch damage, although they don't do the extra damage that you get when the boss is down, but being able to stay out of the way of his attacks more than makes up for the missing burst dps). All my difficulty sliders are on default, BTW. On a somewhat related note, I main Black Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, which is probably why this build/strat works reasonably well for me, lol!
Sounds like a solid strategy! There are definitely multiple ways to take the boss down. The fact that you only had to down the boss 2-3 times is nice. Unfortunately, I fought him when my strength was still under 20 so my damage output wasn't the greatest at that point. I'll have to try him again now that I do considerably more damage.
I Created a Melee Build that can take the Dragon out in one attempt with out using the hills on the side. First time I tried as melee I got smoked multiple times. So went back and made a new Juggernaut Build that is capable of soloing everything and still has Co-op Utilization.
Mine glitched on about the 9th attempt (before I even understood the mechanics of it) and just permanently hovered in the mountains. I used about 275 arrows and burned my wand all the way to a nub but it worked. Now I'm trying to do it the non-broken way...
i just did the cheese strat today staying on the mountain ridge and hitting him with steel arrows and he never summoned the wyverns although i brought 2 bows and they both almost broke
Yeah he'll only summon wyverns if you fill his stun bar. If you just attack with regular arrows, you will damage him but never stun him so you can kill him without triggering them. That is another reason why ranged is easier then melee.

You're welcome! A pure archer build is definitely one of the best strategies to defeat him.
I've got a melee build and have been struggling to beat this boss. Tried this out and got it on my third attempt. Thanks!
You're welcome, happy dragon hunting!

That spot is full of cheese, but I love it
I love cheese 😂

Excellent analogy, exactly like OOT Gannon :)

Awesome good luck!
In the skills tree get Blink and Emergency Blink. Triggering it instantly clears the stun and forward roll clears the fire burn.
Good suggestions! I've got those skills took which does help you to escape some attacks but not all.
Seeing your deaths made me feel so much better about my own struggles with this boss.
I'm glad my pain can ease yours :D
There is a geode on one of the mountains, dig into the mountain there and it makes a perfect siege position for casters and archers!
Thanks for this. That is one tough cookie!
No problem, good luck!!
Hey I'm a melee. This is one of the worst designed bosses in the existence of humanity. Thank you.
It is definitely more of a challenge as a melee build. But that makes victory all the sweeter :)

How do you just play melee?? I run two handed and bow. They give you enough points to expand on multiple trees

Or it’s designed to make players switch things up

Quite interesting but it is so hard to finish...Dev tried really hard for this monster
It is a difficult fight but by standing on the mountain range, you can make it a lot easier :)
good guide still cant beat the dragon tho lol
Just keep at it, you'll eventually get it :)
No matter what i try i cant get him to land. Is this a glitch anyone is aware of??
Alt-F4/uninstall worked pretty fine for me
🤣
This boss fight sucks.
