Just wanna add: Please dont ignore Enemy Skill Materia - specifically Sonic Boom which is the skill you get from Chapter 2 which extremely early and is very useful. Its literally a free buff for the user - Bravery AND Faith, BOTH at the same time - the materia spell only gives one or the other, so again very useful. I doubt I’ll be removing the enemy skill materia any time soon though.
@@travisleonhart3371 right! Forgot the stat stick the actual materia gives. Yeah, overall one of the best materia in the game. The fact that it gives a lot of new skill with the first one being the best buff skill in game. Easy slot in, imo
Cool combo i found: Go into Punisher mode (very important to start with) then Disorder which will transition you to Aerial (and adds more ATB) Do Aerial combos or whatever Finish with Aerial Braver (bonus damage) If you have atleast 2 ATBs or refocused… you can spam disorder from Operator mode (which will also lunge at enemy which is a very good gap closer)
The combat in rebirth is so much more fun than remake. I got the platinum for remake but i was actually kind of hesitant about rebirth because i didn't like a lot of things about the combat from remake.... like no i-frames when dodging, no way to negate damage when blocking etc.... but rebirth feels SO GOOD to play its amazing
@@tameflamesit's almost as if it's a remake of a game that had no guaranteed way to avoid damage and had to have you heal to stay alive or something 😂 😊
@@ExtraHecticana Not more fun at all. It feels literally the same to me, only slightly more brain dead because you don't have to worry about switching to a long range character if something is out of reach and you don't have to pay attention to your magic use because you can just use magic without spending it any time you want. The game might as well not even have materia.
So really more of an early game guide. I'm a little further on and have another weapon skill not mentioned in this guide and I'm certain there are more. Still gave me some additional insight and I did learn a few things. Personally, my Cloud is an all rounder. He has access to three elements (fire, ice, lightning) and Precision Guard materia. Just added Healing to add some survivability. Hopefully, I'll find some Steadfast Block materia to add to him eventually. Also, taught him three of the elemental attacks skills from the Folio as it adds some utility and buffs his materia. And I've been using Buster Sword because it's iconic. Currently running around Costa Del Sol in looking like a beach bum with a giant sword. I really like the things they've added and changed up. I find Disorder a more useful skill than I found it in Remake. And Braver feels like a potent finisher, instead of the poor man's Infinity's End.
@@cstrife420 I think it’s meant more for when an enemy is staggered this time around like use the mode to counter get that burst of atb hit triangle to switch back because enemies move and he just be missing shit. Do you use synergy skills all the time or at certain spots like I use his attack with aerith for big damage but never use counter fire
It looks less Cool but it is nowhere near as effective as Cloud now covers a much larger area and can simultaneously attack multiple enemies at once whilst the Punisher Mode in remake limits Clouds movement
also while in punisher mode, you can end the slashes anytime by pressing triange for a finishing move while switching back to operator mode. perfect parrying in punisher mode also gives you a different follow-up counter attack.
aha!! I kept wondering what was causing those green beams from my sword. I thought Aerith or someone was somehow augmenting my attacks with Aero lol, so it's that dodge roll!!
Are we going to see a video discussing Synergy Abilities? Through the entire game they were completely useless due to unknown conditions that make using them impractical. Fighting the Materia Guardian I use a Synergy Ability to knock the boss down and later the same situation comes up and the Synergy Ability cannot be used.
What I would like to know is those elemental attacks each character get in the folio signifies some sort of chain attack? as you can chain them with other attacks? Does anyone know more about this
You've gotten counterfire wrong here what you showed in the video was a normal parry, I can see you attempted it and it happened to time out right and say immune but I promise that's not what couterfire is for. What it actually does is counter ranged attacks with a ranged attack of your own.
You want a cool but lazy way to play Cloud, works on every difficulty except Hard mode. Play on Classic settings then equip both purple types of auto attack materia. Also equip enemy skill materia. Under combat settings set the following in your shortcuts. Firebolt, Disorder, Sonic Boom & Plasma Discharge. Have First Strike materia equipped hopefully maxed out. Optional: If you have synergy materia put it on another team mate linked to Comet or Petrify. These three materia don't unlock till you make it to Gongaga, Cosmo Canyon & Nibel. With the auto unique ability the AI on Cloud will pull off perfect blocks/ parrys. The auto weapon ability will spam one of the shortcut attacks when you get full ATBs. It will also trigger the synergy attack for your other team mate.
I honestly prefer using Tifa. Her faster attack style along with how easy it is to enhance her power with her faster ATB charge. Tifa's speed also allow for faster dodges & guards, making her great at closing gaps & prefect guards. Air combat with Tifa is excellent thanks to the synergy skills that launch her in the air & most of her moves can be done mid air. Divine Punishment with Aerith also extremely useful in boss fights.
"Manipulating the gameplay environment" to land an aerial braver isn't actually that hard; even if an enemy is grounded, using the dodge->hold attack move to close the distance with an enemy will usually result in Cloud being slightly off the ground, enough for any ATB command initiated from there to count as aerial.
Give one of your characters provoke and you can use lustrous shield or chrono aegis freezes enemies if they try to hit you or radiant ward gives you invincibility while casting spells very useful abilities
I think Aerith gets a huge buff when she learns Radiant Ward. Also, Chrono Aegis can keep her fairly safe from melee attacks. So, it all comes down to building up that first ATB bar, that's why I never start a fight with her, ler the enemies get caught up against the tankier characters first, then switch to her. Once you have Radiant Ward, she because a one woman army.
What would you say is best way to play through the game. I’m only on chapter 2 but I’m going and doing everything challenges cards. Should I do that or push through and come back
New Punisher mode was a shock at first but I like it a lot now. It’s more suited to how Cloud fights in cutscenes. Remake Punisher was too much like a Samurai.
Melee blade is incredible. Use Tifa amd Aerith in your party and then you can build their ATB so easy and switch between the 2 types of attacks based on resistances. I find it super OP
Just started rebirth yesterday. While I am disappointed about modern trends of open world gaming being introduced into the FF7 series I’m gonna give it a go as a fan of the series for 20+ years. While I would have preferred a turn-based battle system I like to use these videos as a guide to improve my skill in battle. Thanks for the content!
It makes sense why they would do that though. The og game was linear but had open spaces in the overworld. I would have been disappointed if they hadn't included big explorable areas. And if that's not your cup of tea, you can always beeline towards the main objective
@@SteelTiamat I don’t mind the open world as much as I mind what they did with it.
