- Got called out to look at a new construction home to figure for a roof estimate. Some behind the scenes of what I look for and trying to be aware of before preparing a roof estimate.

I appreciate you and the work you do Brian!! Very informative! Thank you!!
Wish you were in NC. Great videos!!
I need lots of roof work.... Can you come to PGH.?
Interesting video ! So the potential customer has his own metal roofing material, I understand your workmanship is guaranteed, what about the material warranty coverage ? Thanks for the video !
@@jerrygeorgopolis8015 this was a unique estimate because the homeowner had already started getting the material. I think that’s why a lot of the other contractors never showed up. As well as making sure all of the material is on site before starting, so we’re not making multiple trips. It doesn’t scare me away from figuring an estimate just requires a little more figuring and communication because that side of it is out of my control.
@@GrandRoofingInc Thanks for the reply and good luck !
My roof is a metal roof just a standard five rib metal. & the roofing company been in business many years & no screws is in the ribs all in the flat so you saying they should had rib screwed
my roof down or it just a better area because it a less chance of it leaking ? One more thing I live in central MS when should I replace all roofing screws it 7yrs old ? & what can I get to cover the ridge open gap to keep bugs out ? Thanks for your time & stay safe !
Should of went with a standing seam screw down corrugated is a terrible system even when done right in my opinion
@@danielrandolph9170 I was taught to screw in the flats and still do, I’m not in love with either method though lol …screwing on the rib logically makes the most sense though. Screwing on the flat creates a really solid surface to draw the washers to the metal but the ribs are pretty ridged as well and almost tension up against the washers as they age. I wouldn’t change the screws on a 7 year old roof unless they look dry rotted or really backing out, maybe just snug them all down a tad. I’d definitely wait a few years before swapping them out, when you do just make sure to use the bigger diameter 5/16 screws. As far as your ridge being open whoever installed the roof should’ve put either a mesh vent or foam closures to fill the gaps. You can simply just pull the ridge cap off and install either product yourself, definitely recommend the mesh so your roof can still breathe. Just my opinions though, exposed fastener roofs are not ideal so the “right” way is to not put screw holes all over your roof in the first place lol
Man that sounds like a nightmare using someone else’s metal measurements especially with the complexity of that roof and the fact there’s only about 20 panels that won’t need cut and their own measurement. Measuring metal is an art in itself limiting waste and getting everything right. Good luck…looks like a nice payday if you get it
Especially if it’s corrugated
Are you charge this job by hours, or by the job.

Standing seam?
No, exposed.
