  • Unlock the Secrets of Free Speed: Dive Into the Downhill Skating System
Want to skate faster in hockey without having to completely exhaust yourself? Today we're uncovering the mysteries behind achieving free speed through innovative techniques that leverage the natural mechanics of the human body. In this video, we explore the fascinating concept of the stretch-shortening cycle, a powerful mechanism that allows for an increase in skate performance with less effort.
🚀 The Magic of Muscle Bounce:
First off, we delve into the stretch-shortening cycle, an essential technique for tapping into free speed. This phenomenon is vividly demonstrated through the backswing in golf, particularly observing Tiger Woods' warm-up routine. Notice how his backswing effectively preloads the muscles, setting the stage for a powerful and efficient release. This technique is not just limited to golf but is a fundamental principle that can enhance athletic performance across various sports.
🏋️‍♂️ Squat Jump vs. Counter Movement Jump:
We then compare the squat jump to the counter movement jump, illustrating the significant impact of muscle elasticity on performance. By analyzing the biomechanics of these jumps, we uncover how the counter movement jump, with its natural bounce, results in greater height achieved due to more effective energy transfer, demonstrating the practical application of the stretch-shortening cycle.
    🌀Unleashing Your Inner Spring:
The concept of the "inner spring," encompassing the core musculature and fascial lines, is introduced as a key player in energy transfer from the lower body to the upper body and vice versa. We demonstrate how activating your inner spring can make movements like forward strides, cross-unders, and shuffles more effortless and integrated, enhancing overall athletic performance.

Hi. A couple months ago you posted a video on how to fix the forward stride. You instructed that the stride should be more of a rotation rather than a simple push. I struggle to wrap my head around this. Does it mean I should rotate my hips so that my pushing skate is more open? Thanks!

Nevermind, I saw you commented on a similar question I asked on that video. Thanks!
