Thanks for the tutorial! Just ordered mine with 2 TB cause the storage on the PS5 itself is just way too low. You can install max 3-4 big games and the storage is full. It's indeed the best to buy this and be ready for the next few years cause the games will only get bigger and bigger.

Yo I got three USB 1TB hard drives from ps4 pro and using it on my ps5 now my ps5 3TB😂😂 saved my games on to the ps5
Yeah you can do that but you can't play ps5 games off them, only PS4 right. You can store ps5 games on them.

So the spacer (washer) is meant to go before the ssd to help balance the SSD and keep it parallel. Then you place the screw in after. Hope this helps! Great video!

Yes 100%, I have the 2TB version installed and also have a 4TB Western Digital Drive plugged in via USB for all my PS4 Games.

Hey mate i got a question, does the washer go down first so under the ssd and then the screw on top sp that the ssd is propped up a little bit, or does the washer go on top of the ssd? Cheers

Which SSD should I choose between them? WD SN850P/850X/850 with Heatsink / Samsung 980 Pro with Heatsink / Kingston Fury Renegade with Heatsink?
I heard that the Kingston one is a bit taller for the PS5 dimensions even if it's compatible by Kingston themselves. Also, it's not very popular in the market.
For the Samsung 980 Pro with heatsink, I'm not sure about it since I heard about a firmware update for it that made it dying faster so Samsung released a fixing update.
And for the WD, I'm not sure if I should pick the WD_Black SN850 vs 850X vs 850P which is made for PlayStation with the PS Logo and it's the newest version between them all. Also, both the newer version of the 850P and the 850X have 7,300 vs 7,000 on the regular one of SN850.
Also, I heard the PS4 games can be on the external hard drive connected to the PS5. Is that true?
Hello, I have not had the pleasure of testing the other models you have mentioned. I have heard good things about the WD SSD. I have had my Samsung 980 in my machine for over a year with no issues at all. This video was created recently installing one to my friends unit. As for the external drive, YES you can store and play PS4 games on there. you can store PS5 but will not be able to play them until you copy them back. I have a video on the WD 4TB External drive which explains all that too. Thanks for watching.

So would you recommend the Samsung 990 Pro with Heatsink and the WD 850X with Heatsink over the Kingston Fury Renegade with Heatsink SSD’s?
@@satxrnhimself Have not tried the 990 Pro - all I can say for sure is my 980 Pro has been great. I'm sure the 990 would also be very good. Sometimes its just about what you can get at the time for a good deal as well :)

How do you transfer all your PS5 games from the old Samsung SSD Drive (1TB) (this one had filled up, no more storage for games) to the new Samsung SSD Drive (2TB) (this one I had just bought)?
In the storage menu where you would delete a game there is also the option to move. Tick all the ones you want to move and copy to the SSD. The process is actually in the end of the video from memory.

I've been using this for a long time now, never had an issue, no overheating and never had to upgrade any firmware, just worked from install.

Yes you can play ps5 directly off it.

Should I get the 980pro 2tb or pay more money for the 990 pro? Is there a significant difference for the ps5?
theirs 0 difference the the ps5 because the you'll only notice the difference for pc workloads, for the ps5 their equal.
The 990 is faster for PC but the same speed for PS5 as the 980.

Strange that it's not coming up. Without physically seeing how you have it installed it's very hard to offer suggestions. I would make sure the gold contacts are clean and you have it secured properly. 1. Washer 2. Ssd then screw.

@@Games-Ah46 Hi There, I can only really talk to this one as I have not owned the other model, I would do some googling and see what you can find on the other one. I would recommend making sure whatever you get it has the heatsink included like this one.
What about firmware? Should you update
So I have read that older models needed to update firmware but the newer ones were ok, you cannot do this inside a PS5 so if you wanted to check firmware and see if there were updates you would need to plug into a PC first and use the Samsung software to do that. I have not done this with mine and I have not had any issues.

Black is a slightly better spec drive but it depends on the use. Samsung is cheaper and for me does the job well.

Hello, I would try removing the SSD and make sure that it's been installed correctly. Clean the gold pin connectors it they look dirty. Reinsert and give it another go, failing that you might have to try the SSD in a PC to see it it's faulty or the PS5 is. It like fixing a PC you need to try one thing at a time until you find the problem. Good luck
It’s not sending me to the format screen. I’ve verified the installation but no changes. What should I do?
Can you see the drive in the storage screen in the ps5? It should recognise when you turn it on.
No, all I get is my login screen. Doesn’t give me the format screen at all. I tried blowing out the groves and gently making sure it was fully in place but still the same result so I’m guessing software issues.

Hmm strange, it may be a faulty SSD. Can you try it in another product? Do you know anyone else with. Ps5 to try in? That way you can try to see if it's the ps5 or SSD.

Have you figured it out yet?
I would make sure you have it seated correctly from you install. You could also try to reformat and see if it improves. If neither of those two solutions work you can reach out to Samsung's customer care team for further help.
Is the 990 pro much better?
If you have the extra money 990 is slightly better but you won't notice much difference in a ps5

Screws are included in the PS5 - Screwdriver - just a small Philips head is fine

Sounds like the unit maybe faulty, I would suggest you try and get it swapped over.
