    What I like here is you show the modification up close to both resistors you have to solder into place where Mr BBI doesn't do that at all. Not even close up shots. This mod tutorial shows everything you need to do with little explanation of why. BTW, you soldering skills are very detailed and precise and so is your hand/eye coordination. Nice job filming this whole thing and you gotta give kudos and all the accolades to 767 CB who shows you how to do this mod in the least amount of time. Thank you for doing this video.

      ... But BBI did... he has like 2 different videos... one video in particular tells which values for 14 14.8 and i think 15.5 volts as well as telling you where to put the resistors and which variable to mess with in case it goes into crowbar....

    This is the best video of the mod so far, Camra in focus on close up and good details.
    Also looks like your pretty good at soldering.
    Im gonna try this mod, i need a powersupply for tuning cars, and on some cars the fan starts, and on bmw its about 63A.
    But for the most under 30A just a fuelpump and things like that starts.

      So far no problem, I am probably pulling daily between 18 and 55Amp on and off to run my equipment in my station. Fan kicks in sometimes in to higher speed to cool off the power supply but that's normal. I actually can't believe that I was able to find this power supply and do the mod for that cheap. Even if it works for one year it's still worth it to buy another one and do the modification again. I do not see any side effects that would cause any noise or some interference causing my Anytone 5555N II to run funny or getting RF noise etc. I did put 60A fuse with automatic reset function at the output 13.8v power supply cable just so I don't overload the power supply over that value, I just like to have that not necessary but always extra protect ion. I think that's it, nothing bad happened that I would complain about. Not sure what kind of experience other people have with it but if someone likes to add some knowledge and advice we all would appreciate it. 73 from 0767 South California.

    • @myszaca
      @myszaca  10 місяців тому

      Don't see any interference on my side. That was a statement from BBI guy that it runs clean. So so far all good. If you run that power supply with higher current draw for a longer time it will get warm and the fan will kick in in higher rpm, I can hear it but not too bad. I installed this power supply behind the cabinet so I don't hear it too much. Like they say different stations have different experiences. If you get one for cheap try it. Maybe run it with 12v only before converting to higher voltage and see if you get any weird issues. 73.

    • @myszaca
      @myszaca  5 місяців тому

      Not sure why drops to 12.8v. So far mine at 55 amp sits steady at 13.8v. Is it the same exact model ? Maybe you need to put different values of the resistors to bump the nominal voltage so when you put 60 Amp load it will drop to 13.5v or so. Check comments in hear maybe someone mentioned other resistor values that they used to bump the voltage over 13.8v.

      when you plug the power supply to the outlet watch the fan it should kick in for a second and depending on outside temp it may spin very slowly. At the end of the video I showed where the sensor should be relocated to control the fan more accurately so it cools it faster. 73

    What was the purpose of the switch you installed on the first and forth leg vs. the permanent jumper wire Mr BBI used?

    • @myszaca
      @myszaca  Рік тому

      I got the switch so just in case if I want to remove wires and connect to something quickly etc I won't make a short. Up to you what you like to use, it really doesn't matter if you have a jumper or switch. To kill the power to this amp circuit board to prevent constant draw I have to switch my power cord to off position every time I am done for the day 😂 . So really one or the other works fine.

      Good question. Honestly I have no clue. Never run that with 220v. One way to know would be to try it and see what you will get. I think input voltage doesn't matter what you gonna get on the output. You may be able to push more amps from 220V. Maybe someone in hear from Europe did that conversion and will give us some answers.

    1w metal film resistors can be used? what type did you use?

    • @myszaca
      @myszaca  Рік тому

      scroll down in comments sections I gave someone else a link to resistors I bought on Amazon. 1/4watt. I used 20 and 51 kohm resistors. when you use 15 ohm may not work. go to my links in description where I have links to BBI channel. I copied his idea and changed the resistors value to what I want and it worked,got lucky. He is mentioning other values and voltages somewhere in those two videos. start with that. If you want more then 13.8v then see his video and listen to what he says about resistor values etc. It is possible that your crowbar protection is kicking in and cutting power, not sure about that because I didn't come up with that idea. Watch his video if you need more than 13.8v output. If you put the same resistors as I did and it doesn't work then it's a hard one because diagnosing that kind of issue here is almost impossible. make sure soldering connection points are good and ohm the circuit from the leg at the transistor to the end of the leg at the 20kohm resistor or 15ohm and see if you have continuity ,not open circuit etc. I would definitely start with BBI videos and see what he is talking about resistors etc. maybe other people who did one of those had the same issue may share their experience. FYI make sure it's the same model also. 73.
