    Very interesting, Thank you, bhante.

    Sanku Banku
    King Asoka always fascinates me and is a good starting point to wonder if leaders can really live and rule ethically in the real world.

    Thank you, Bhante. Sadhu, sadhu, sadhu. These presentations are quite absorbing. I lGoogled those sculpture gardens with the scenes from hell realms, and they seem to be a popular tourist attraction in Thailand and elsewhere. Personally, I prefer mini golf.

    Sadhu sadhu sadhu.
    I find the various traditionally important numbers fascinating. Is the meaning lost of all of such numbers?
    I’ve read in some translations of sutta that very large numbers were used to give an impression of infinite. That the language of the time did not have such a word. And of course there are quite a few parables in the canon which convey the vastness of the infinite.
    The number 84,000 does seem very specific. Being 7x 12,000.

    06:30 were there really any "orthodox Hindus" at that time ? seems to me the Brahmanic tradition wasn't yet fully established in Eastern India at that time

      @A. WRONG! That means the King sees the monks as representative of the Buddha Dhamma (Truth). Time for you to wake up from your WET dream with 72 wives from HELL as per Sunan Ibn Majah 4337, son.

      Animal sacrifice was a common practice in David and Solomon’s time. Where did you get the idea that they protected animals?

    • @A.--.
      @A.--. Рік тому

      @@xXKillaBGXx humans arent herbivores. We have been designed to be omnivores. To eat animals one has to sacrifice them. Protecting animals from disease, over-work, famine, abuse etc.

    • @A.--.
      @A.--. Рік тому

      @@xXKillaBGXx to claim Buddha opposed animal sacrifice would need proof. Unfortunately there is no reliable proof of his teachings without Anandas and the only way to believe him is to believe his claims (advanced 3 levels of enlightenment from sitting to lying position, levitating from door to seat in 1st council meeting, materializing a being to testify on his behalf).

    • @MustAfaalik

      @@A.--. Proof of Buddha's rejection of animal sacrifice can be easily proven from the first precept of abstaining from intentionally destroying ANY sentient being. Please have a workable understanding of Buddhism to avoid making ridiculous comments.

    How can anyone take these levitation stories seriously. How can you place your salvation on such ridiculous uncomfirmed mythology.
