I am doing some crossover stuff and did think of the comparison, while I have never had them meet the main difference I ultimately found was that Anders does what he ultimately does because it’s basically him needing to satisfy Justice who has become vengeance, he doesn’t really have a plan and his attempts to rally the mages or supporters are laughable at best. In essence he kinda just gave up and kicked to hornets nest expecting to just be killed. the key difference between the two it’s that Edelgard has an actual plan and the ability rally the people behind her, she doesn’t stop trying until she is literally on her last breath and the enemy has kicked in her door.

Back in the day I tried to give him another chance but these days I tend to just end it for him, as the former leads to Sebastian attacking Kirkwall come Inquisition (Sebastian/Dimitri?) and that city and its people have had enough misfortune to last life times.

I always try to pick characters that are closely similar to each other for Fire Emblem Death Battles. I don’t have many ideas, but there are two I really want to see - Chrom VS Jonathon Joestar (Fire Emblem VS Jojo’s Bizzare Adventures) and Estelle VS Micaiah (Tales of Vesperia VS Fire Emblem). Not sure who’d win each fight, but I really love these fights.

Another fun video! Funnily enough for another possible Dimitri matchup besides Guts, Siegfried from Soulcalibur is one that had some popularity and vibes well imo. I do prefer Ike vs Siegfried like you already brought up, but I do think it’s neat that Ike and Dimitri have Siegfried and Guts as shared matchups between them.

Assuming shulk is at max, like byleth with the Zahra feat, then the true monado would give him the win since that thing helped create a new universe. Thats not even going over extra feats he gets from future connected and future redeemed. So I'd say shulk still wins it consodering hes got way more to work with in terms of high tier stuff, as opposed to byleths 1

I agree with no universal Shulk. I feel like for a middle-end scaling country to continental Shulk is fairly consistent. Malos and Mythra are continental bare minimum and Shulk scales to at least part of Onthos in Future Redeemed. Combine with Zanza being the force behind Bionis, the continent lifeform that is half the world, and I think we're good here. While the place they fight Zanza is abstract, I don't see him having any reason to not "hit them for real", so to speak.
I would give Veyle Hold out and Soren. When engaged with Soren magic heals the user for half the damaged dealt and Soren doubles Veyles crit chance so with the right engrave Veyle gets nearly or straight up 100% crit chance. So thanks to hold out and healing she is unkillable aslong as she is engaged. And she hits hard.
I see Byleth vs Shulk and I want it now! Shulk is my second favourite video game character! Edit: I also see Veyle Vs. Regina from Doki Doki Precure being a good match.
Wonderful video series. I saw you part 1 FE death battle and kept on checking in from time to time for each parts. As you can tell from my PFP I am a FE fan and during the watch there was a few characters I was surprised didn’t make it on the list as lord adjusted. Those being Caeda: Martha’s love interest who is used to help recruit some of the units. Sanaki: Empress of Begnion who is an important NPC in the first Tellius game and a useable unit in the second… at the very end… Kris: Marth’s best friend in the DS Japanese exclusive game. This is the character I was very surprised wasn’t talked about due to FE12, while being a remake of FE3, has Kris as a main focus. I also understand why Kris would suck due to the fact they can be almost any class. Gacha Game Lord(s): They are lords… are official FE games… but they are from a gacha game so… I don’t really care. It has just been a match up I've been thinking about a lot of, and have been playing around with. I don't power scale either, so... sorry... Both are kings that seek revenge. Hades seeks to avenge his brother, Poseidon. Dimitri wants to avenge those that had perished during the Tragedy of Duscur, bounded by duty.They are both lance users. Hades uses his bident, which transforms into Ichor: Desmos, which drains his life force. Dimitri uses Adreadhbar, and Hero's Relics drain the life force of their users. Both also wear eye patches. Both are aggressive fighters, and are self-destructive. Whenever Dimitri isn't blood lusted, he is quite respectful, the same goes for Hades. Both kings also have hand-holding symbolism, even sharing a similar scene. Dimitri had the time skip cut scene, covered in blood, by his lonesome, surrounded by corpses, and a hand stuck out to him. Hades, during the Gigantomachy, had slain the Titans, protecting his brothers, covered in blood, surrounded by their corpses, and had been offered Poseidon's hand. They also have moments where they tell people life changing advice. Dimitri told Byleth to live in what they believe in, and Hades had told Beelzebub to stop asking for death, and rather ask how he should live instead. In death, both ask for forgiveness. Dimitri asks to be forgiven if he falls during battle, on the player's side. Hades asks for his brothers to forgive him. Dimitri is a descendant of one of the 10 Heroes, that had played a role in Sothis' death. Hades fights against a human that kills him, a god (Record of Ragnarok is about humans fighting gods, where the humans, the "Einherjar," can defend themselves to prevent extinction). Dimitri would be motivated to defend his people from the eradication of mankind, and Hades would be fueled to avenge Poseidon (who also looks, somewhat, similar to Dimitri, to me, at least). I feel as though there's a lot to work with, even if my reasoning isn't exactly solid, I apologize for that. I just really like both characters a lot, and would absolutely love to see them have a fight, and just see how they interact. I dunno, I just like the thought of Dimitri shouting "I'll save them... all of them... DOWN TO THE LAST ONE!", as an inversion of "Kill every last one of them!", and a reference to the Guts Death Battle, would be a nice way to show how much he had progressed as the Savior King. Oh yeah, and since Ragnarok has every human in history in the audience, it'd be neat to have little cameos from other fights, and even have Guts there, watching. Again, I'm sorry if this isn't the best explanation, or even that compelling of a match up, but it's one I've been fancying. My lack of media consumption is probably why I'm big on it. So I wouldn't even know any better match ups, sorry to say. Anyways, keep up the good work, and have a good one! ^_^ Edit: Hades is also the "God of the Dead", so Dimitri fighting him would just be cool off of that idea alone, given he was passionate about "tributes to the dead". I hope they'll do Hades justice next season, since his fight against Qin Shi Huang is the next fight to be animated. Hades is one of my all-time favorite characters, despite only having one fight. I'd certainly recommend a read through, especially to get much needed context for what I said. Though, the earlier portion is rather rough to get through... Have a good one! ^_^
Considered Nel at least, but I wasn't able to find a match up I liked. As for the royals 1) I have learned from my hubris, and 2) I felt like I'd be retreading old ground with several of them, with the exception of Timerra perhaps since several characters I talked about before fit pretty evenly into the same character niche as them. It'd be like making match ups for three different Jagen characters, they'd all start to blend together.
Okay, this is straight up weird, but two of your descriptions for FE characters reminded me of Naruto characters: - Yuri vs. Nagato/Pain: Their stories are pretty similar, down to both of them creating an organization trying to save their world. - Shez vs. Naruto: Also a pretty similar description, they even have similar power-ups. Veyle also reminded me of Hiei (from Yu Yu Hakusho) with her description fitting him perfectly (save for Hiei travelling alone for a long while and not fighting *against* his sister), the color of their magical powers is even similar. And your description of -Colgate- , I mean, Alear is a perfect match for a matchup against Saint Seiya.
My current most wanted is Alear vs Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail. Characters that can summon spirits through 12(ish) magical items and fight alongside them. Both can also “fuse” with said Spirits to gain thier abilities for themselves. Then you can also extrapolate some time skip, found family, and poor parent relationship connections. I mainly like this for the clash of power sets admittedly, but Alear (I mainly imagine Female Alear) and Lucy’s personalities I feel would work very well together.
Also for the sake of animation, I would use Emblem Eternal, but not use it in the debate. It’s not like that form is that much stronger than any other form scaling wise

Alear is the one who carries the rings on thier person, and is the one going around collecting all the rings. In Heroes (tertiary material), Alear has all the rings on hand because she had them on her person when summoned, has a special box and everything. She definitely can’t use them all at the same time, she would at least have to switch what ring is on her finger, and also have to wait for an Engage to end in order to switch out if it, but I definitely think Alear should have access to all the emblem rings. Now I don’t hold that option for the rest of the cast however. Everyone else should only have the ring they debut with if any at all
One thing that really bothered me on db scaling was them ignoring the light javelin scaling in shambala’s roof to massively upscale it to all of aliel, when shambalala hole was the only full damage from a singular light javelin we see, and it happened in the same cutscene rhea got hit in. Also you can scale wolverine’s power from x-men up to thanos durability by scaling the durability of an opponent’s opponent to gage power, and it made little sense in terms of fodlans story telling. Also, using dodge mechanics in magic spells to gage speed is baloney. I can aim dodge a laser, but it doesn’t make me ftl
Okay but like, none of them are really all that special enough for that. They have no stand out moments or great combat feats, and you couldn't even really argue for them having multiple Emblems Rings like you can at least try do for Alear
While Edelgard vs Anders is a neat matchup, I still prefer my own idea. My matchup for her would be Edelgard vs Gaius Van Baelsar (Fire Emblem vs FFXIV). This'll be a long explanation, since this is the matchup I want to see the most. (Spoilers for FFXIV in the explanation ahead ) Since everyone here should already know about Edelgard, I'll focus on Gaius. His parallels with Edelgard are pretty apparent. Gaius starts as a conqueror who seeks to bring Eorzea under the control of the Garlean Empire, believing it's rulers to be weak and reliant upon false gods to maintain control. His big speech before his fight with the Warrior of Light at the end of ARR sums up his ideology at the time pretty well, saying that it's the duty of the strong to take control and lead the people, and that mankind must dictate it's own fate. He's also a strong believer in meritocracy. Despite his empire's stance of Garlean supremacy, he gives non-Garlean soldiers in his legion the same opportunities for promotion as the others. In the pursuit of his goals he ends up working alongside a shadowy ancient organization known as the Ascians, who ultimately betray him and set off what's essentially a magic nuke in the middle of his own base in an attempt to kill the Warrior of light. After surviving his defeat, Gaius learns about how he was deceived by the Ascians and how deeply they're involved in the Garlean empire. This is where the parallels mostly end, as afterwards he becomes a wandering Ascian hunter, ends up fighting alongside the protagonists against the Acsians and the Empire, and helps stop the empire's production of biological weapons and unethical experiments. Most of the biggest differences between Gaius and Edelgard are in their circumstances, rather than their ideals. Both are believers in meritocracy, the strength of mankind over gods, and are willing to use war and conquest as tools to achieve their goals. However, Edelgard has more authority within her empire, and is capable of fighting its corruption from within. Gaius, on the other hand, ends up fighting against his empire once he realized how much of a hold the Ascians have over it. In terms of skills, Gaius is an accomplished general, a skilled swordsman and marksman with his gunblade, and his magitek armor has an arm cannon and allows him to create ceruleum phantoms of himself. However, he is completely incapable of using magic due to being a Garlean. In terms of overall power, Gaius is a closer match for Edelgard, having fought with the Warrior of Light, defeated several red-masked Ascians, and assisted Estinien during a mission to infiltrate the empire. In a similar vein to Hegemon Edelgard, an argument could be made for giving Gaius the Ultima Weapon: a giant mech that he piloted in a battle with the Warrior of Light, and easily defeated the primals Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda. tl;dr: "When humanity stands strong and people reach out for each other, there's no need for gods" vs "For the world of man to mean anything, man must own the world" Also now that I'm thinking about FE3H and FFXIV Rhea vs Thordan would be neat but I'm not writing another essay right now.
For Alear and every other Engage characters, I personally wouldn’t give them access to ALL of the Emblem Rings. I just think it gives too much to the character, and overall just seems indecent. So for me, I’d give the character the Emblem Ring they’re most given among the fans, if they get rings at all. For example, Alear would only have access to Marth. Hopefully that makes sense
I disagree for Alear specifically. I think Alear should have access to all the Emblems since the entire story was her going around collecting them all. As for the other characters, yeah keep it to thier kingdoms main emblem if any at all
It's funny that you followed up Yuri vs. Yuri with Rhea, because there's another Tales character - Yggdrasil from Tales of Symphonia - whose backstory and plans bear a remarkable resemblance to hers. He also used to be a legendary hero who brought an end to a great war alongside his allies, but his older sister was killed, driving him mad with grief, and he spent centuries attempting to produce a vessel for her revival through selective breeding, going so far as to establish a politically powerful church where his deceased relative was venerated as a goddess.

Yeah... Sadly, the anime didn't quite capture the manga too well. I hope they'll do Hades justice next season, since his fight against Qin Shi Huang is the next fight to be animated. Hades is one of my all-time favorite characters, despite only having one fight.

Considered Nel at least, but I wasn't able to find a match up I liked. As for the royals 1) I have learned from my hubris, and 2) I felt like I'd be retreading old ground with several of them, with the exception of Timerra perhaps since several characters I talked about before fit pretty evenly into the same character niche as them. It'd be like making match ups for three different Jagen characters, they'd all start to blend together.

Okay, this is straight up weird, but two of your descriptions for FE characters reminded me of Naruto characters:
- Yuri vs. Nagato/Pain: Their stories are pretty similar, down to both of them creating an organization trying to save their world.
- Shez vs. Naruto: Also a pretty similar description, they even have similar power-ups.
Veyle also reminded me of Hiei (from Yu Yu Hakusho) with her description fitting him perfectly (save for Hiei travelling alone for a long while and not fighting *against* his sister), the color of their magical powers is even similar.
And your description of -Colgate- , I mean, Alear is a perfect match for a matchup against Saint Seiya.
While I know less about Naruto and Saint Seiya, I had a serious mind blown moment when I realized how right you are about Veyle and Hiei.
My current most wanted is Alear vs Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail.
Characters that can summon spirits through 12(ish) magical items and fight alongside them. Both can also “fuse” with said Spirits to gain thier abilities for themselves.
Then you can also extrapolate some time skip, found family, and poor parent relationship connections.
I mainly like this for the clash of power sets admittedly, but Alear (I mainly imagine Female Alear) and Lucy’s personalities I feel would work very well together.
Also for the sake of animation, I would use Emblem Eternal, but not use it in the debate. It’s not like that form is that much stronger than any other form scaling wise

Veyle's emblem or choice would be alear. Every cannon emblem bearer debuts on the same chapter as their ring. (Except vander and alfred) Veyle's debut chapter is how you get emblem alear. Plus, ya know.... that's her brother! That she's been searching for for years!

Alear is the one who carries the rings on thier person, and is the one going around collecting all the rings. In Heroes (tertiary material), Alear has all the rings on hand because she had them on her person when summoned, has a special box and everything. She definitely can’t use them all at the same time, she would at least have to switch what ring is on her finger, and also have to wait for an Engage to end in order to switch out if it, but I definitely think Alear should have access to all the emblem rings. Now I don’t hold that option for the rest of the cast however. Everyone else should only have the ring they debut with if any at all
One thing that really bothered me on db scaling was them ignoring the light javelin scaling in shambala’s roof to massively upscale it to all of aliel, when shambalala hole was the only full damage from a singular light javelin we see, and it happened in the same cutscene rhea got hit in.
Also you can scale wolverine’s power from x-men up to thanos durability by scaling the durability of an opponent’s opponent to gage power, and it made little sense in terms of fodlans story telling.
Also, using dodge mechanics in magic spells to gage speed is baloney. I can aim dodge a laser, but it doesn’t make me ftl

Okay but like, none of them are really all that special enough for that. They have no stand out moments or great combat feats, and you couldn't even really argue for them having multiple Emblems Rings like you can at least try do for Alear
While Edelgard vs Anders is a neat matchup, I still prefer my own idea. My matchup for her would be Edelgard vs Gaius Van Baelsar (Fire Emblem vs FFXIV). This'll be a long explanation, since this is the matchup I want to see the most. (Spoilers for FFXIV in the explanation ahead ) Since everyone here should already know about Edelgard, I'll focus on Gaius. His parallels with Edelgard are pretty apparent. Gaius starts as a conqueror who seeks to bring Eorzea under the control of the Garlean Empire, believing it's rulers to be weak and reliant upon false gods to maintain control. His big speech before his fight with the Warrior of Light at the end of ARR sums up his ideology at the time pretty well, saying that it's the duty of the strong to take control and lead the people, and that mankind must dictate it's own fate. He's also a strong believer in meritocracy. Despite his empire's stance of Garlean supremacy, he gives non-Garlean soldiers in his legion the same opportunities for promotion as the others. In the pursuit of his goals he ends up working alongside a shadowy ancient organization known as the Ascians, who ultimately betray him and set off what's essentially a magic nuke in the middle of his own base in an attempt to kill the Warrior of light. After surviving his defeat, Gaius learns about how he was deceived by the Ascians and how deeply they're involved in the Garlean empire. This is where the parallels mostly end, as afterwards he becomes a wandering Ascian hunter, ends up fighting alongside the protagonists against the Acsians and the Empire, and helps stop the empire's production of biological weapons and unethical experiments. Most of the biggest differences between Gaius and Edelgard are in their circumstances, rather than their ideals. Both are believers in meritocracy, the strength of mankind over gods, and are willing to use war and conquest as tools to achieve their goals. However, Edelgard has more authority within her empire, and is capable of fighting its corruption from within. Gaius, on the other hand, ends up fighting against his empire once he realized how much of a hold the Ascians have over it. In terms of skills, Gaius is an accomplished general, a skilled swordsman and marksman with his gunblade, and his magitek armor has an arm cannon and allows him to create ceruleum phantoms of himself. However, he is completely incapable of using magic due to being a Garlean. In terms of overall power, Gaius is a closer match for Edelgard, having fought with the Warrior of Light, defeated several red-masked Ascians, and assisted Estinien during a mission to infiltrate the empire. In a similar vein to Hegemon Edelgard, an argument could be made for giving Gaius the Ultima Weapon: a giant mech that he piloted in a battle with the Warrior of Light, and easily defeated the primals Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda.
tl;dr: "When humanity stands strong and people reach out for each other, there's no need for gods" vs "For the world of man to mean anything, man must own the world"
Also now that I'm thinking about FE3H and FFXIV Rhea vs Thordan would be neat but I'm not writing another essay right now.
For Alear and every other Engage characters, I personally wouldn’t give them access to ALL of the Emblem Rings. I just think it gives too much to the character, and overall just seems indecent. So for me, I’d give the character the Emblem Ring they’re most given among the fans, if they get rings at all. For example, Alear would only have access to Marth. Hopefully that makes sense

I disagree for Alear specifically. I think Alear should have access to all the Emblems since the entire story was her going around collecting them all.
As for the other characters, yeah keep it to thier kingdoms main emblem if any at all
It's funny that you followed up Yuri vs. Yuri with Rhea, because there's another Tales character - Yggdrasil from Tales of Symphonia - whose backstory and plans bear a remarkable resemblance to hers. He also used to be a legendary hero who brought an end to a great war alongside his allies, but his older sister was killed, driving him mad with grief, and he spent centuries attempting to produce a vessel for her revival through selective breeding, going so far as to establish a politically powerful church where his deceased relative was venerated as a goddess.
