Yvonne Nava joins the teachers at Xplor of Circle C, helping with feedings, nap schedules and even diaper changes in this installment of Take This Job!
I have been an infant teacher in day care centers for 33 years. People think all we do is sit and hold the babies all day long. We have so much to do that I can't see many people doing our job. We have observation papers to do for every child twice sometimes three times a year. Classes that we are constantly taking, lesson plans. We don't interact with the babies as much as we would like anymore. Its hard work and we all feel burned out.
I miss babies! My kids are now 8 and 10 and I would love working with the little ones! I love holding and comforting them if they are upset. Playing with them is also so wonderful!
Cute! I cannot wait, I’ve just got myself at job in a daycare. I’m working with the 3-5 year olds as I’m 16. Then they’ll put me with the babies later on.. SO EXCITED!! I absolutely love children so this is like my dream job! I was screaming when I did my interview and they said “ OKAY WELCOME, YOU GOT THE JOB! “ ❤️😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤️
I was a Head Start teacher and had the 3-5s, thank God! I broke out in a cold sweat if I had to sub in the baby room. They're great (for others to watch!) I don't do babies 👶 Good luck in your new career!!
You can’t work with infants or toddlers until you are 21 so you got a bit of time to go. And 16 is a little young to be working in a daycare in my opinion.
@@dbreezy8993 no it's fine. I'm 16 soon to be 17 but I got the job in December I work ONLY with infants and toddlers and sub in preschool when I have to. Other girls that work with me are the same they are like 19 20 everyone there is pretty young we only have a few staff 30+
Don’t believe the hype. Yes everyone is adorable 😍. However lifting 20 pound babies maybe 6-8 of them all day for months if not years destroys the body. The pay sucks. Co workers can be catty as it’s usually all ladies. Long hours and terrible pay. The families are literally the best part of the job.
Not to mention the centers are usually concerned about money over children so expect kids to be let in with pink eye, strep, hand foot and mouth disease etc on the reg. So frustrating..
@@tiffanyjohnson1676 that sounds so bad....luckily where I work we are pretty steady about money and we care more about the children. In my opinion that place that you worked at or that you are talking about should go out if business...clearly they aren't ready to be handling children in a safe environment
this. I’ve been working at a center for three months and it has pros but MANY cons as well. yes, TONS of workplace gossip. It’s HORRIBLE. Never have I experienced so much workplace gossip than at a daycare center
I wanted to be a daycare teacher too! Just for toddlers. I will teach them so many english lessons and take care of them! I hope I can do my best of taking care of the toddlers!
I am interested in working at a daycare, sadly all the childcare places in my town only pay $9-$10 an hour :( so doesn’t look like that will be happening
Lol I love babies so much. You have to really be patient and nurturing. Babies can sense when you're frustrated: which will make them cry more. This is not a job for the weak.
10 Babies for 2 teachers? That's an INSANE ratio. (Seriously, what state allows this lol?) I used to work in an infant room, and I commend anyone who keeps at it because it's hard work--especially when a single teacher is in charge of FIVE babies!!!
Depends on which state and the age of the children. In the video it looked to be as if some of them were over 12 months so the ratio would change but not go over the 13 month age gap
Then there isn't much that can be done aside from make sure their needs are met and try to console them as best ee can while also meeting the others needs.
@@AliciaGonzalez-pk3mw That's not what it is about. It's the economy. Most families cannot support themselves on 1 wage. The husband would have to be upper middle class in their area to even be able to think about being able to support a family with 1 wage.
@AliciaGonzalez-pk3mw Scientifically, you are only grasping a portion of the picture. There is a deeper dynamic involved. Fathers and infants can be equally as attached as mothers and infants. When both parents are involved with the child, infants are attached to both parents from the beginning of life. Father involvement is related to positive child health outcomes in infants, such as improved weight gain in preterm infants and improved breastfeeding rates.Fathers occupy a critical role in child development. Father absence hinders development from early infancy through childhood and into adulthood. The psychological harm of father absence experienced during childhood persists throughout the life course. On the side of the direct need between father and infant, the baby is affected by proxy when a mother and father have a healthy relationship. The infant needs the mother to have a supportive father in order for the mother to provide adequate emotional and physical care. Have mothers done it without fathers? Yes, for many reasons. But the strongest family dynamic happens when both are healthily present.
Im going to become a daycare teacher So i can order mcdonalds or what they want on fridays But if i babysit babys ill feed them milk and baby food since I love kids
Poptarts are acceptable foods for 1 year olds according to US regulation. For all daycares. I walked in to tour my daycare and there were seven 1 year olds eating poptarts with icing all over their faces. I almost had a heart attack.
You never get shown the utterly difficult part of childcare. It's not for the faint of heart. It's not just children, because children will be children, but parents, colleagues, administrators, regulators, the back breaking bending, twisting and lifting.... If you're not 100% passionate about childcare and everything that comes with it, it's not for you.
If that’s how American babies are fed by putting food on their tiny table. Their motor skills are not developed enough to take the food straight to the mouth and finish it all. I hope they are not left malnourished
@AliciaGonzalez-pk3mw I kept my boy home until he was 1. I found that daycare didn't start to get tolerable until they get into the 2s rooms and onward. It's rare to find happy staff with low turnover below the 2s rooms. And the kids are rarely happy. We took him out and put him into a smaller school not long after until he turned 2 and then he switched to a newer place with amazing education for his age group. His teacher is a keeper and I'll be sad when he changes rooms 😞
@AliciaGonzalez-pk3mw Tell that to all the people who have degrees in high paying jobs and a mountain of student loan debt but no one will hire them. You seem really young, neive, or both.
Blacks even the children of them are always obedience a and tougher😂mean look at those black childs around. no single one even you can see crying or messing around 😂😂😂😂
Watching children play and learn together at daycare is a heartwarming reminder of the beauty of innocence and curiosity. ❤

I am currently working as a part time aftercare teacher for 6 month old babies and I love it so much!
10 babies with only 2 teachers??? That's just neglect!!! There is no way 2 adults can cater to the needs of 10 babies at once!!
The limit in Wisconsin is 4 babies/ 1year olds per teacher. It's a lot to handle.
Agree!
Witnessed this yesterday when touring. It was neglect. There's absolutely no way a baby will get anything more than very basic needs met if that

Think outside the box pls! The childcare industry is huuuge. Nannies, au pairs whatever.
It destroys the body as much as it makes it. The muscles I've built lifting babies, i haven't built all my life working out...

Exactly. I used to work at a daycare center working with 12 infants by myself.

10 babies? what state is this? In MD you can only have 6 babies with 2 teachers
Tia Mason in Minnesota it’s 1:4 ratio . I give you so much props for 1:6 !

2 to 12 in Ohio!
2 to 12 in Georgia
Anna Rees if they can have 6 infants to 2 teachers the ratio is 3 babies to 1 teacher not 6:1
I would love to be a daycare teacher. 😩

That job looks very stressful it's difficult to take care of babies.
