    I’ve always found that metal guys tend to love jazz, so To Pimp a Butterfly is the perfect album to check out. Just an absolutely stacked lineup of contemporary jazz stars came together to produce it, including Kamari Washington, Terrace Martin, and Thundercat. And then, of course, Kendrick raps an extremely dense lyrical narrative over the whole thing. Imagine if John Coltrane and Jaco Pastorius decided to work with a lyricist like Bob Dylan to make an album. That’s basically the equivalent of what this is.

    • @justsomejusstsome8994
      @justsomejusstsome8994 3 роки тому +8

      John Coltrane and Jaco Pastorius are numerous levels above Thundercat and Kamasi tho. But even then, I don't think them together couldn't have created something as great as this, on a technical level yes, on a conceptual level, I doubt it.

      Usually most metal guys love any type of music that can connect to straight to your emotions. It’s good to feel songs that have a soul to it, if that makes sense

    Kendrick’s album To pimp a butterfly came out in 2015 right in the middle of the first wave of the BLM movement. Alright was used a lot within all those marches back then, became somewhat like an anthem.
    Forgive me for not remembering what songs you’ve already listened to of Kendrick’s but if you haven’t already you should give a couple more songs from that album a listen.

      @@Iplayquad I’m fully aware that “black justice” in many different forms has been around for a long time but I’m talking SPECIFICALLY the BLM movement. The BLM movement officially started in 2013 but really picked up speed in late 2014 and 2015.

    Divorced from any of the political/lyrical content, this track gives me goose bumps every time. It's so well produced, so well executed, so well designed. Probably one of the most aesthetically beautiful rap songs I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot of them.

    The end of the album reveals who he is talking to when he says "I remember you were conflicted...". Though I don't want to spoil it if you are planning on listening to more tracks on the album. In my opinion this is the best rap album ever.

    • @jordanpinheiro9172

      Yes, couldn’t agree more on being the best rap album. I think anyone who really wants to dive into rap and to see what it should be, they need to listen to this album at least once all the way through. The complex way he put it together and how he so beautifully and intricately displayed his ideas is beyond a masterpiece and one of the best projects ever made in any medium in my opinion

    I love it when metal guys react to hip hop videos because traditionally speaking metal and hip hop kind of came up together in the same types of clubs because they were outcasts and had to play there so they always had a actual mutual respect for one another and if you listen to hip hop as a whole it's far from a shallow concept
