Sharon Tate called this her "dream house." The sorrow in this video is too much to bear. The music fits perfectly - what happened here was horror. May the souls of the blessed dead rest in peace.

The actual target of those killings was supposed to be Terry Melcher (Doris Day's son). He was a music producer and Charles Manson was a singer/musician. He tried to get a record deal from Melcher, but Melcher turned him down. Many believe Manson thought Melcher still lived at 10050 Cielo Drive when he sent his minions there on a murder spree, but Melcher had recently moved out. I read somewhere that the murders sent Doris Day over the edge because she knew that her son was meant to be murdered by them.

Isn't that the truth, I was serious about getting the blue prints and building it for my self. If I could of moved to California back before they tour it down I would have bought it and left it alone, the only thing I would of had dune would have been a better gate with privacy and a nice chain link fence all away around it cameras and my Dobermans and shepherds that I have would have loved it. It was such a buetiful home I can see why Sharon love it. Not like that thing sitting there now!

I am just happy that you shared the video and images. The house is gone now and I am torn on that thought. On one hand, I understand the horror of that infamous night and the energy that held those echos, BUT, I also feel a real sense of loss when I see how Sharon loved that home. I don't think the world has recovered from this. It seems just as devastating to me today as it was all through my childhood. I was born 18 days after this happened, so, I never got to live in the same world as Sharon, but, my mom was obsessed with Sharon getting justice and hating the manson cult, I remember those days well. I think the thing that makes me the most livid about this case is that Tex Watson has been allowed to get married and have children while inside prison. How is that okay? They took Sharons (and her unborn child) life and her right to parenthood away, why do they have a right to have children?

Me too. It burned me to no fking end. I've spent my life in therapy because of this...I had just turned 9 yrs old 7 days before this happened. I live close to San Francisco and found out they had been there. I was terrified that "crazy hippies" were going to break into our house and kill everyone. To this day I am battling crippling anxiety over it. And these FREAKS are allowed to have lives inside prison. And the sick, twisted sycophants out there who still follow Manson, even after the bastard rotted like an old sausage (someone who was there actually made a video describing Manson's body like that) in the prison morgue still makes me live uneasy. Have you seen his son Matthew? Daze with Jordan the Lion has a couple of YT videos on him. He is the mirror image of Manson and even sounds like him. And flies buzz around him fiercely the entire video. Flies know evil.

I do recall when Trent Reznor lived there, he called it "le pig studio." This was really insulting to the Tate family and Patty told him off about it and I don't blame her. He, in turn, completely apologized and felt bad for calling it that. Also, wasn't it Reznor who kept the front door of the house? That I'm not sure of even though I've read a lot about the case.

That's what people do in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and environs. They buy perfectly good houses and tear them down and rebuild them to bigger and perhaps better mansions. And then, there are real estate agents who buy these types of properties, tear them down, build mansions, put them on the market for no less than $10 million dollars. They are making it impossible for anyone but the very rich to buy houses in those areas. Very sad.

As Richard Pryor once said, "As long as Folgers is making coffee, none of those people are ever getting out of prison." It was a reference to Abigail Folger, an heiress to that coffee fortune, grand daughter of the founder, and one of the innocent people killed by the Manson family. It's very sad to say it, but she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Hi George. Thanks for a great video. I've always been fascinated with the old house and it's hard to understand why they demolished it and built that hideous monstrosity that stands there today. I just finished reading Michelle Morgan's autobiography, published in 1978. She says in Sept. 1941 she moved into the house she had commissioned, which was located on "the road to heaven" (I assume that was what Cielo Drive was called back in those days...Cielo does translate to "heaven." She has some interesting things to say about the house. Apparently, she only lived there for about a year, spending the spring of 1942 there when many pics of her at the house were taken. When she married, her husband made her sell the home and they took the money and bought another house "together." He refused to live in a house a woman had bought and paid for on her own. It just wasn't done back in those days, apparently. She said she paid $21,000.00 for the house and land. I suppose that was a good sum of money back in those days. Rudy Altobeli said he paid $86,000.00 for the home in 1963 and sold it for 1.6 million in 1989. I ordered Miss Morgan's book off Amazon. It's called "With Those Eyes" It's not in stock but several are available from private sellers. It's an interesting read, especially when she speaks of the house on Cielo. Most of the history about the home says it was built in 1944, but according to Miss Morgan, she had already lived in and moved out of the home by 1944. I suppose she could be mistaken, but she was only in her fifties when she wrote the book. She is still alive, well into her nineties now.

He wanted to buy the house for the creepy vibe and Tate's sister asked him why he was so keen on living that particular place - he was embarrassed and couldn't answer. I'm interested in murder too - don't get me wrong - but I detest the tendency to see this sad crime as some kind of camp horror from the 1960s.

Thank you so much George for the videos and pictures. I was 14 when the murders took place. I'm now 68. The subject has always held my interest, over the years. I started revisiting this subject about amonth ago. Ran across the Cass Elliot connection, it really kinda blew my mind. Had no idea she was in the picture at all. Which is the best book to buy on the subject ? Chaos ?

I agree, could do without the sinister music. However, it is really disturbing to see Tate in that house, doing regular things like flying a kite, playing with her doggie, doing the dishes, etc knowing that she would be horrifically murdered with her friends in that very house.

This is for Erik Exner: I tried to reply to your comment but it wouldn't let me. You were curious about why Polanski & Sharon did not have security guards on the property. You are obviously too young to remember this. Back then; it was not needed. Random brutal murder of strangers just didn't happen. Especially in wealthy, affluent places. Today, EVERY wealthy and/or famous person has the best security that money can buy. Sadly, those times have drastically changed. I grew up in an isolated, somewhat wealthy area. But back then we didn't even lock our doors; much less hired armed guards to protect us. Hope this answered your question.

All I am saying is why did they not own a home? Sharon was ready to deliver. Even a complex with security?? That house had a weird past! Poor Sharon was a sitting duck! A bunch of dope addicts around, no husband. * alone.. The others were all drug addicts & according to Doris her mom she had called Roman & wanted them OUT!!!!!

    • @carolgladfelder219
      @carolgladfelder219 8 років тому +5

+Erik Exner Hi Erik. I've read that Sharon & Roman were looking for a home to buy. But they had to move soon, so they chose to rent until they could buy a house. I agree that Sharon was a sitting duck in that isolated house. But again; at that time she had no reason to fear something that had NEVER happened before. Yes, that home was very isolated. But Manson & Watson had been to that property a few times. They knew where to find it and also knew it was SO isolated that they could committed brutal murder and no one lived close enough to hear the horrific screams of bloody murder by the victims. Just want to explain what I meant. Take care Erik.

When you see this home and where it is located, it makes you wonder what the real motive was behind it all. It is not exactly an easy place to get to and most people would not even know where it is at. What was said by Manson, to start a race war, sounds a little far fetched to say the least. That is how it appears anyway. Those people should not get parole. This was premeditated. They should not have been allowed to have conjugal visits in prison either and have children.

sooooo true...these murders, well, i guess we will never know the real truth/motive, and i believe there was one and they went with the Helter Skelter thing just to get these people off the streets. i have followed/studied this case for yrs and to be frank, i believe the police were on the right trail originally with the drug connection and the rumored weird sex-drug scene going on in the house. I believe they all knew each other, if at least peripherally and the victims recognized them upon entering...i believe the Family had been in contact with the victims through drugs and sex/porno business and that they had been to the house recently. If u do the research, it gets creepy and you realize that the Family were fucking/hobnobbing with every Rock star in Benedict Canyon

Read my statement again slowly this time, and maybe you wont be like every other youtube subscriber who makes some rude, judgmental statement in response to something insightful that i post that just happens to be the opposite of what they believe... cant we disagree these days w/o getting nasty or hostile??? Holy shit! I just noticed something weird! The photo at 2:40. Check out the the murder photos of Sharon and note the flag on the sofa. It's in exactly the same position as the photo in this video.
Also note the black object on the white chair. It's also on the Tate murder photo.
This tells us two things, either that photo in the video was taken hours before the murder OR the room was cleaned and staged, put back to "normal" after the 2 bodies were removed. The problem with that scenario, as blood soaked as the carpet was, how could it have possibly been totally cleaned? That blood was there long enough to dry.
With the flag being draped over the back of the sofa, it would have certainly been shifted around some after someone sat there. Plus the black object on the chair. The house is very orderly and a coat (or whatever it is) would not have stayed there for long. This is weird!

Brutal murder of 5 people; including a pregnant woman who was just 2 weeks away from giving birth. Therefore; there were 6 victims of brutal murder. Oh, but Atkins "just made a mistake"? HUH? Even worse is that you feel so bad that Atkins was denied " a compassionate" release when she was dying. Really? You never mention that Sharon Tate BEGGED for the life of her baby. Atkins told her "look BITCH", I don't care about you or your baby. You are going to die tonight so you better be ready. Was Sharon (her baby) or the others shown any compassion? NO! So why do feel that Atkins had earned a " compassionate release?
