It is very, very apparent that spectators/fans who pay big money for tickets to skating events, absolutely appreciate all that a Jason Brown program/performance has to offer. The continual cheers throughout this FS and the standing ovation speak for itself. This skater does not need even a single quad; because he has everything else in spades 👍👏👏👏
jason's skating always tells a story and is balanced (something i think figure skating has lost sight of) between technical components and artistry. beautiful program as always.
I love that it is still possible for a man to win a medal without a quad--because he has such exceptional elements! In the old system he might have gotten 5.6 for technical but 5.9 for presentation. Thanks for sharing!
I detest this music. I muted it halfway through the performance, and my first thought was 'how beautiful....' ... movements like water flowing, please try it!
The technical content is 1990s. Overall beautiful skater but the U.S. is not in good shape competitively if this performance is the 2nd best in the nation.
He got 6th at the olympics for a similar program. Jumps aren't the only thing in play. Artistry makes up a large component of the scores and he's figured out how to get amazing artistry scores which make his total scores incredibly competitive. Honestly I think it's great that there are still skaters who don't feel the need to do quads and just skate but that's just my opinion :]
yeah that 3Lz3T getting GOE +1.26 is close to ridiculous: 1) 3Lz is not from a clear outside edge; 2) the landing of 3Lz is scratchy with a touchdown of the free foot 3) 3T is clearly not fully rotated. Hellooooooo -> what about fairness towards the other skaters? (see comments by both Tara and Johnny about the panel not even reviewing several jumps!)
3F1Eu3S: 1) 3F not fully rotated 2) 3S not fully rotated. Where are the calls from the technical panel? Hellooooo anyone there? (see comments by Tara and Johnny mentioning this issue)
I'm kind of meh about this perfomance....this music was okay once, but it's a bit on the cornball side for my taste. Wished he'd changed his program this year. It's better watching with the sound off, given that generally songs aren't choreagraphable, unless they are dance songs. Overall, it's just a little bit too slow given that he doesn't have a quad, a little more speed would have notched up the excitement.
Is his lack of any attempt to include a Quad jump some protest or is it simply an inability? Artistically he's beyond compare, but with almost all the men competing here having a quad, I don't see how he can believe he's competitive. You compete to win, not simply participate. I mean, that's why I would compete. Discussion only, please. Its simply my take and I'm curious.
Jason said he’s no longer chasing any titles! He simply loves the sport, I know I personally feel his love through his programs and that’s what I enjoy most
He tried few years back for a season and never landed so gave up on the attempt. Thankfully, he landed his triple axels here. In the only 2 competitions he competed in this season he fell in all 4 pogram attempts so I thought he lost that jump too. He decided not to perform his new long program that he failed on this season and went back to the same program he’s competed I think the last 3 seasons.
So your idea of competitiveness is to have only three skaters competing?? I don't get it. He was 6th at the Olympics, 5th at worlds last year, 2nd here winning silver. How is that not competitive? He's well respected and gets shows left and right based on his career, more than the ones "cOmPEtiTive". What about the guys who are happy with a top 10 or a top 15?? Should they retire too? Who are you to tell him he should quit? I swear some of you guys will host a party when he'll retire because he keeps getting better spots than your faves. (sad)
Jason is at his late 20, he will risk to hurt himself since he had attempted and was not successful. My view, figure skating is a sport that you need to have clean quads(if you are doing it) and artistry for better GOE, which Ilia is trying to do now.
Figure skating is a sport at the very end of a day, not a show :) the pity is other guys who push themselves hard up to technical frontier are robbed of the medals. he is good skater but not 30% better than others. if we trust the points he was granted with, others don't skate ;) others just walk around the rink ;)) and produce clumsy jumps on the way with no decent GOE :) anyway, judges are always prejudiced
huh?? literally half of your score is based on “show”. there’s a reason technical and pcs are two separate scores…judging the amount of difficulty AND artistry. his incredible artistry from so many years of experience is gonna far outscore everyone else in pcs, which is part of what makes his scores so high and can make up for some of his jumps.
3F not fully rotated...no call from the technical panel ...sad....no fair towards the other competitors (see comments by Tara and Johnny in this regard)
That was so sloppy for a seasoned veteran. I think he should stick to show skating. At this point, he is taking away a spot that could have gone to an up and comer who would benefit from gaining experience at an international competition. The US judges hold him up because he is a crowd favorite. But he is never going to win a natioanls, and certainly never going to win a world medal.
if you think this was sloppy, you should have seen Malinin's free skate - it was really sloppy; Ilia has the jumps and very little else including lackluster spins and meh choreography
Jason is gift on ice. I hope to see him skate for a long time. His artistry is just on another level.

Seen one quad, you’ve seen them all. Jason is something special.

Now this is figure skating!!!! Simply breathtaking.
THIS YOUNG MAN NEVER DISAPPOINTS ME EVEN IF HE DOES FALL HE HAS SUCH A SMOOTH AND LIGHT STYLE AND SUCH AN ARTIST ON THE ICE.
Thank you ❤
This skating reminds me of the early 90s no quads just artistic
King of figure skating
A true display of “FIGURE SKATING!
Go champs go for it, Never stop believe in ❤🎉❤
TY for posting!
He is the greatest artist of our time!
Thanks for posting this
La grande classe❤😊
When Ilia gets 91. This is 110 in components.
Per me è il più grande pattinatore di tutti I tempi ❤
For a second there, I thought that was the theme to Pearl Harbour that he was skating to.
who needs quads………………..?

@@soliloquy7495 It's about math and he is too feminine. So boring
then don't watch him. you don't need to be nasty and you certainly are not an expert.@@natpz2703

В технике ему не прибавить,но он сама гармония,просто наслаждается своей работой

Maybe he'll put in some triple/triple combos late in the program and get bonus points. His artistry should get him high marks. We'll have to see.
@@scook5599 He won't do it because you say so. We want to see Jason for as long as he desires.

Figure skating should not be only about jumps. All his other skills are better than most of the other skaters
stay bitter
It's a sport that has always been about ARTISTRY and TECHNICALITY. It literally has always favored those who can blend both. Don't act slow here pls
