Voyetra Eight - Octave Plateau Electronic

- Here is a track with the extremely rare Voyetra Eight from Octave Plateau Electronics (1983). All sounds are coming from the Voyetra (including percussion). Even more rare is that the Voyetra is using a mix of SSM and CEM chip. SSM2044 for filter and CEM3340 for VCOs. Add the extended modulation features and you have a lovechild of Prophet 5 Rev2 and the Matrix-12!

I had this synth with the last firmware update performed by Pete? in New York. Owned it for 12 years. It was IMHO perhaps the finest analog synth I ever owned based on the sound and versatility. I preferred it to the Memory Moog, Prophet 5, and Roland Jupiter 8. Don't get me wrong, I loved them ALL as they each had their own distinctive sound, but the Voyetra 8 was magic! Unfortunately, I was forced to downsize studio and living space in the financial crash of 2008-2012. I miss it most of all... Thank you for such a wonderful demonstration of its sound.
These sounds and this kind of music had a HUGE effect on me growing up as a young child in the 80's. Feel there's very few who truly understand it.
This is one of the best synth demos I have heard in a long time. The mix is really phat and satisfying. The tune and arrangement hit the spot perfectly. Wow. I am inspired.
Firechild, the only UA-camr that shows what any synth can do in a real song, a good song.
Alex Ball too, but with more WTF :D
Yeah, them precious synths are in good hands.
What a beautiful sounding vintage synth. They are so expensive
Beast machine, incredible musician with amazing taste. Crystal clear sounds from this synth! Congratulations!
Dang! I love this so much. It’s a dream synth for me. Nice music !!!
In fact a marvelous sound!
I came here looking for a proper demo of the Voy sound after scouting a UVI plugin. I am sold!
The sounds are great, like everyone said. But the composition and melodies are truly remarkable as well!
The silly dumbfounded look on my face! This synth made me happy for a bit lol! Wow to see it and hear it in action! Unbelievable!
Awesome music(and synths) as always🌟😁🌟, LOL that X/Y 🕹️ reminds me of those standing ashtrays from back when smoking cigarettes was still socially acceptable😅
One of your prettiest melodies yet! I love the Voyetra.
But like Status Quo, they do all sound the same.
Oh yeah! The whole room is full with legendary synths and stuff... Just noticed that I'm a proud owner of one of these precious devices...
That old Roland midi keyboard! XD
By the way, really nice sound!
I really enjoy your music! Thanks for giving us another great melody. Take care, Sam.
Looks like we found what inspired the Korg Engineers when they were building the M3
I remember them being advertised in the US, but never saw one in a music store. I think New Order is who I first learned about it from, but it was very expensive at the time, so not even a consideration to purchase as a poor teenager. The most I ever spent for a keyboard was for a new Korg DSS-1...and then they dropped the price US$500 and gave away a large disk library (like 25-30 diskettes) with them a month or two later. Korg USA was nice enough to send me the disk library for free after I mailed them a letter asking about being able to get that.
Do you still have the Korg? 8)
@@mapesdhs597 I still have a DSS-1 that's partially broken that I bought several years ago really cheap (US$75?), but not the original one I bought new.
@@xnonsuchx Ironic, I bought a Yamaha that has also has some kind of partial fault; it has two sound chips but one is bad. Still not gotten round to fixing it. :}
That sucks man! Glad they took care of you with the disk library though!
Brilliant track demoing a rare instrument, thank you for sharing.
Beautiful! I forgot how nice the Voyetra sounds. Thanks for sharing that. ;)
That is SOOOOOOOO beautiful. Thanks for sharing your talent.
I love synthesizers because of people like you sir.
On a walk , perfect
You must have the best synth collection in the world by now - bra jobbat
Just lovely Mr F .
Top notch Pontus ,the power of sound and talent ,BIG like.....bra jobbat!
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!
Come sempre composizioni bellissime.Complimenti
Exquisite composition, what a rare and beautiful machine
A great peace of technology, thanks
Beautiful piece
Amazing
Wow that sounds amazing.
Sounds very lovely and distinctive
Monster Synth like the Polykobol II RSF
Amazing.Love it.
Great synth. Great music.
Pure Feelings!!!! Amazing
Amazing!
Love the filters! Crisp and Nice.
I believe the secret to this synth is simply that it has very full facilities, as your top mid 80s polysynths would, but mainly the SSM chips. As simple as that

Love your vids Firechild… you’re VERY talented. However, I’m a former owner of the Voyetra and wouldn’t take it back if you paid me! 😆
I sold mine to Gordon Reid of SOS fame (extremely knowledgeable guy who requires NO introduction). I contacted him 5 years later and the Voyetra came up and like a true Englishman he said; “well, let’s just say I understand why you sold it”! LOL!! GREAT sounding synth, HORRIBLE user interface, right, anyone?
Love it!
Ooohhh yeah.
My new (and twentieth) favourite of yours
Bella, armoniosa, romantica e potente. Bravo
That's a sleek looking controller, i would love to have it as a standalone midi keyboard
Since it's connected with XLR, and the Voyetra implemented MIDI over XLR, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it is. :-) However, it seems also to be powered via that XLR, so using it with anything else seems tricky.
Voyetra the Top
Big sound 👍😊
Great! Know´s Mr. Behringer of this synth?!
Sounds incredibly CS80
Very nice. Gives me studio electronics feels of omega 8. I did post my 3 voice oberheim SEM drone recently.
I’LL TAKE ONE!!!
Haha, I'll take two!
Cool synth
I need some salt with all that sweetness....but wow...what a sound :)
Trivia time! Voyetra 8 is the only synt ever to implement MID over XLR. It's in the specs. Nobody else ever used it. :-)
It's supposed to be a bit of a pain to use, but as you can hear, it sounds amazing. New Order had two of them, as seen in the video for The Perfect Kiss.
Underbart ❤️
Lovely and also a great grill plate when your Hibachi is bricked.......SML
Very jealous. New Orders main synth in the early post Joy Division. I sold my beloved Jupiter 8 12 years ago. I see it is not racked. I heard it easily bends the rack ears.
New order
I swear if you’d been around in the seventies you’d have multi platinum albums, world tours and would be taking over cityscapes with lights, lasers, fireworks and music of your own; if you get my meaning!
Fantastic synth, todays synths sounds good but for some reason doesn't have the charming of the vintage ones.
👏👏👏👏
Making any synth sound like Vangelis- and thats a good thing. Great sound
This dude has cost me tens of thousands of dollars making these videos
You’re looking at a couple tens of thousands just for this one keyboard, never mind all the others

🎵🎵👍
Why don't you post your Behringer demos on your channel?
Thats the best sounding analog synth Ive ever heard
Seems like these are vary rare. New Order used Voyetra. I love this sound vs new digital.
about 100-150 were made, so they are rare indeed.
This bad boy lists for 34 thousand dollars in the U.S. 🤔🤔🤔
Vackert
Why would anyone give a "thumbs down" on this clip? Ununderstandable......
