What a sound. A four voice, hell even a two voice is top of my bucket list.

Breathtaking sound!! Still im happy with Matrix 6 I got earlier this year, close enough... but... ;-)

Alex, splurge! My OB-TVS-1a is my favorite synth I own. But get the original. While the re-releases are great and stable, I'm selling my SEM Pro because they just aren't up to snuff with the vintage SEMs filter. I've seen the prices of the original TVS go up annually. There is a clean TVS on reverb right now w/o sequencer - add in the Korg SQ1 which is the net same thing. That's what Portishead do. As a subscriber to yours on TY and IG I'd love to see you do a video on it

At one point as a touring keyboard player I was lugging around 8 boards. It was an expensive on-going process trying to keep up with state of the art sounds and maintain portability and size constraints. I have reconciled parting with a Minimoog, Odyssey, Omni, 2 Clavinets, 8 Hammonds, Roland JX8P, Mellotron, CP70 piano, DX7, Wurly Piano, Juno 106, Korg Poly6, and more, but my major regret was parting with my Oberheim 4 voice. It is wonderful to hear your rendering from that majestic set- up. Kudos!

In the new Bee Gees documentary, there is a scene where they are putting together the song "Tragedy" in the studio. Barry asks keyboardist Blue Weaver for a big sound, he goes over to his Oberheim 8 Voice for that lead sound that is guitar-like but clearly not a guitar, a sound that really drives the song.

That 8 voice was one of two owned by Singer/Songwriter Paul Davis he loaned it to criteria studios after recording Singer of Songs Teller of Tales but in that album it was mostly CS-80

I just stumbled across your videos today. What a breath of fresh air! Finally, someone who GETS IT. Anytime I search for videos about gear all I get are stabs at individual patches, or detailed explanations about this or that, but what I really want is great MUSIC using the gear so I can both enjoy the music as well as decide whether the gear is something I should long for. I bought my first synth in 1988 (D50) and was ultimately disappointed. What I love more than anything is the sonic power and energy of analog. Later I was at a pawn shop and they had a Juno-60 for $225. I had never heard one so asked them to plug it in. When I hit the first note I was like “THIS is what I am looking for!” I later bought a second Juno-60 and also an Ob-Xa for $400. I composed a bunch of music and then went to graduate school where I found I needed to sell everything (Had lots more stuff) to get out of debt and go to school. I thought I would graduate, get a good job, and buy it all back. Didn’t work out. Kicking myself for selling everything. Stopped composing to raise a family and repair my cars (long story). Built back a mini studio using much lessor gear. I LOVE your compositions. From the sounds to the melodies to the progressions. It is top notch work. Thank you for posting your videos!

Awesome as always! Beats me why you don't have a million subs; where are all the Jarre & TD fans?? MrFirechild, would you ever do an open air concert? I never got to see Jarre live, but I did see TD long ago.

I’ve seen Jarre three times now; his last tour sucked. It was so boring and obviously mimed it was depressing. Nothing like the magic of seeing my hero, aged 14, standing soaked at London Docklands.

@@NROS2012 Bummer about the concert. Certainly the album sounded like it had some passion to it, but still, rather removed from the days of Equinox, etc.
Last concert I saw was Kiss in 2019 and it was excellent fun.

    Very nice as always.
Now, the only thing you still have left to do, is a giant symphony involving all your synths. The sound will be giant, I'm afraid mixing it will be impossible, you'll have to play it in the nature like JMJ ;-)

I love the sound of Oberheim, though my personal experience is somewhat limited. I have a DSI OB-6 and a Vst plugin, BX_Oberhausen by Brainworks.
I still hear the reference. But this is so much more the real deal and the sound so huge! So very very warm and lush pwm. So unique SEM bell tones and the bass is mmmm can listen to that for hours. And the music piece. It fits the sounds like glove. Thank you for sharing.

Evocative 1970s sequencer anthem, suffused with epic nuances of early 1980s New-Wave. Definitely an excellent track. The synthesiser sound is nothing less than gorgeous: dense, vibrant and authoritative, like the Wiener Philarmoniker of subtractive analogs that it is.
