      Same, I not heard of the Ostrich wing awning till last week.
      I filmed another video today on setup and pack up and the wind picked up a lot. The awning hardly moved.

    Hi Phil, have just found your channel and appreciate how honest you are with the products you are using. I also have an iKamper RTT and was wondering if you foresee any issues trying to mount this Ostrich Wing awning to a roof rack combined with the iKamper? I don't want to have to mount it way off the side of my rack if the tent will foul on the awning. Cheers!

      Hi, depends on your vehicle. How much room do you have from the top of your car door to the mounting points for the awning. On my Pajero I did not have enough room, so I had to mount the Rapidwing awning I had at the time higher which got in the way of the iKamper. I than had to mount awning away from the Ikamper so I could open the iKamper which left that huge gap between ikamper and awning.
      If you have the space, you can mount the awning lower so it don't get in way of the iKamper when it opens, but will you still be able to open your car doors.

      @@itroy3039 My aim was for the easiest quickest setup and I think I’ve now achieved that.
      I used up a little more fuel on the highway. But that’s just the cost I have to pay if it means I can still be able to camp with ease and comfort.
      I might look into a wind deflector.

    Hey buddy…..what’s the difference between this and the 30 second awning…..?
    They both look the same down to the green piping……I’m trying to decide which one to get between these two……

    • @PhilsCampingReviews
      @PhilsCampingReviews  3 роки тому +1

      The 30 second awning uses heat seals on the stitching that don't last long in our environment. Ostrichwing uses what looks to me another layer of canvas to cover the seams. The arms are not 100% identical. the ostrichwing looks more sturdy to me.
      The 30 second awning I don't believe are welded as well as the Ostrichwing awnings are. I've heard stories of the first bar snapping off on the 30 second awning.
      I think the canvas is more heavy duty on the ostrichwing but I'm not 100% certain on that.

    • @PhilsCampingReviews
      @PhilsCampingReviews  3 роки тому +1

      There's a reason why the Ostrichwing is more expensive. It's also the original 270 degree freestanding awning. I believe they started making this back in 2012.

      30 second awning uses 280 gsm canvas. Ostrichwing awning uses 380gm treated safari rip block canvas

    Hi Phil. How difficult would it be to install this awning with the drifta wildlands 1.4 rtt?

    • @PhilsCampingReviews
      @PhilsCampingReviews  3 роки тому

      One thing for certain you will not be able to install this awning to the Wildlands it’s self, the Wildlands not strong enough.
      Your only chance, this will depend on your vehicle, is to mount direct to your roof rack or roof bars. The mount you use is critical. I don’t know what the supplied mounts are like in the Ostrichwing as I had mine upgraded to the Tough Touring Brackets.
      Tough Touring do make a mounting kit for a roof rack. Could be worth looking into.
      It’s critical for the Ostrichwing if you want to get the best out of it, that it’s mounted securely and rigid onto your vehicle.
      I think you can do it, but it’s very dependent on your vehicle.
      You will never look back if you do go for a Ostrichwing awning.
      There the original and the best. I don’t care what anyone else says. Ostrichwing are the first to make free standing awnings, they been making them longer than anyone else and there strong.
      Check out the video I filmed during a wild storm I posted recently.

    Pretty ruff fitters drilling holes over the roof without a sheet or cover over paint no sealant under the rivets not hard to do things right

    • @PhilsCampingReviews

      Special rivets used that seals.

    • @PhilsCampingReviews
      @PhilsCampingReviews  3 роки тому

      The filings from the drilling are collected inside the roof top tent and are vacuumed out, these guys work on million dollar yachts and LC200's etc. Some of the vehicles I've seen in there getting setup, they do an awesome job.
