Think UA-cam deleted this comment originally, for some reason: Re-posting. > Finally! Jesus Christ. Its not like someone's politics and view of the world, along with the culture they've lived in, doesn't bleed into their work, but rather that people are real good at looking past all that to the essence of the narrative. This is why many tales are considered timeless classics. Its because the stories, themes, characters and lessons that they teach transcend culture, transcend politics, and communicate ideas that can resonate with anyone who reads them, regardless of where you come from and what your views on the world are. Ceding ground on this topic only serves to validate people who thrive off confusing you by inherently poisoning the well and making it so that the words used to discuss something already set them up for victory. 40:40 No Dev, this is not the only way you can defend against it. You can never defend against the manipulative malicious game of narcissists and psychopaths (which is what this entire ideology is and how it operates) by playing its manipulative game back at it. That's how you lose. You have to reject their game and play another, proper one. There is no reasoning with the irrational. Liars already know the truth.
You aren't reasoning with them you are giving them a taste of their own medicine... which is a saying for a reason. Any way you cut it if you want to win here you have to get down and roll in the slop.
Sometimes, when Arch talks about how he is Persona Non Grata at GW, I wonder if my artwork still hangs in the GW art department and if they have any idea that it was drawn by a right wing conservative that disapproves of most of their business decisions.
No chance, spite and pettiness defines these npcs, they 100% purged any art that doesnt fit their agenda. I'm amazed they haven't tried to make sanguinius gay yet.
Nobody likes the new lore, because it's so obnoxiously politically charged it's hard to not notice it. When you have a troon colored mech with a troon flag on it, piloted by a they/them who's out to fight the patriarchy...when does the fiction start and the politics end? I hate SFO's insistence on "everything is political" precisely for this reason. It kills art, it's designed to kill free expression, and that's exactly what's been happening the last decade. How can you truly make beautiful or thought provoking art when you can only view everything you produce in a political lens?
It is more like, your views and beliefs create your politics. So, when you create art, it is an expression of your views and beliefs. Which is your politics. So, if the art is bad or terrible because of your views embodied in it, it is because your politics are bad. And you can't create good art with bad politics.

43:20 - It's the distinction between 'Being political' and 'Having politics'. 'Having politics' is things like... the constant feuding betwee the various factions of the Inquisition, or the that none bar the Emperor or Primarch can order an Astartes chapter around. It's there being an Imperial Senate until the Emperor dissolved it. It's the Federation and the Klingon Empire being at loggaheads until Praxis forced everyone's hand. 'Being political' is casting Sargon as a Khorne Beserker, or having every male characyer be shite and every female character be an amazing girl boss. If we keep that distinction, then when someone says "It was always political!", you can answer "No, it had politics", and not have to justify how 'Empire bad, rebels good' isn't politics.
I joked jears ago, when it was just "lgbt" and they added the "Q", that the alphabet crowd would just keep picking up new letters. Then they did. And eventually came the + and I laughed my ass off... But this is truly ridiculous.
I don't think arguing that everything is political is the correct way to beat them. Don't let them make the argument to begin with. Use their original tactics. They say it's all leftist, say no and call them racists and sexists. Call them evil.
You're trying to engage them on their terms and hold them to standards they define. You accept their antiracism and antisexism frame of reference and try to out-virtue the leftists in a virtue contest they invented and perfected. You're playing their game, they will beat you every single time.
Yeah. He's real dumb on this one topic. I legit almost always agree with the Dev-man, since I can at the *very least* always see the logic behind his arguments, even if I would prefer different solutions. But that is definitely not the case here. All you do when you agree to look at something through their framework is allow them to set you up for failure. "Everything is political" serves two purposes: > One, it allows them to take something that is a-political, or at the very least attempts to be universalist in its themes and messages, and then taint it. > Two, it allows them to assert that the reason you would *ever* deny something being political is because you're trying to push your own politics. With a singular, three word sentence they poison the well and then attack by holding a bucket of death-touched water up to your mouth. You don't fight that buy opening up your trap to rebut them: you smack the bucket away, punch them in the face and then go American History X on them until they stop twitching.
As always, Dev has the wrong understanding but insists on being told he is right. There is an important distinction between everything being political and the cultural marxist trying to make everything political. Dev has accepted the premise and therefore given them the win by moving the argument to their terms. By deciding that you already lose, you gave them what they wanted. They correct path is to call them out and reject their attempt to politicize anything that doesn't need to be political. Gatekeep that f out of everything.

Both arch and razor did adress this point in the discussion by mentioning It is okay to discuss politics in the given setting as it is relevant to the setting but it is malicious when someone tried to enforce real world politics into the setting.
Yeah, everyone on this video is missing the point. The essential point to make is that people make things and people maintain things, and if the people in charge insist on putting their politics in everything, then their politics will be in everything, and if you don't want that, it is absolutely essential that other people are in charge. No book or written constitution has the power to resist or combat anything - it's people that make the difference. If expressing a worldview is a political act, then everything is political. But 'politics' is essentially ideological battle, and not everything has to be a battle.
Sargon had a good take on this . When they throw the "everything is political" line at ya say " YES and we LIKE it this way so much it's called "normal" , keep you weirdo takes to yourself " . Too many don't push back to protect what they love

I play BattleTech since I was a kid decades ago. I now play it with my young son. I only really like the earliest setting of 3025, aka the 3rd Succession War. Even the Clans don't really interest me. Just give me mechs and a hex map. I don't need the bloat.
I still really like the clans myself, be it for only one reason: they manage both to still be human, while at the same time affecting the setting like an alien invasion would, with even their society being alien by our standards. That, and gameplay-wise... I heard they were bad before, but nowadays as a newbish player I really have a hard time winning with them against the sphere XD when a timberwolf with a clan pilot is almost the same cost as two annihilators...

I genuinely don't get what Dev is saying when he says "everything is political." Actually, scratch that. I understand what he's saying, but I vehemently disagree with the logic and intent behind the statement. What is political about writing a poem, story or song about not wanting to die? Or the suffering of starvation? What's political about the human condition and what it means to know hope and joy, along with despair and sorrow? Not everything is political because many things are universal. Not just to humanity, but to life in general. Parroting their phrases in order to beat them at their own game is not necessary when you can just tell them to shut up, that you understand what they're trying to do and that you not only disagree, but that you reject their framing of the issue. This is simple enough to do, Dev, without ceding ground to them on their inherently warped and hostile foundational view of reality. You're talking about beating them at their own game, whereas I and many others would agree that the only way to shut them down is to call them on their bullsh!t and call it a day. You can't defeat these people by levelling with them and trying to beat them at an argument. They will never cede a point, never admit they've lost or look stupid. Nothing you do or say when you engage with them in this way will stick or affect any real change. You're effectively trying to engage in melee with a rabid honey badger, and all you're gonna get for your trouble is a free transition as they wrangle themselves out of your grasp and go for your balls.
It's not too far from the truth - in that anything with a story is painted by culture and politics. But to mistake 'being painted by politics' as 'being political' is so room-temp IQ thinking they're brilliant it's not even funny. And to try to spin the political inspiration visible in games without a story, like Pacman, is just pure self-humiliation. He'd be right if he stopped at 'politics influence everything', but he doesn't understand that there is a distinction, and thinks it's just a nicer way of saying the same thing.
politics is when two people exist. Everything is political in that human beings are political animals. Every thing written has an intent, and audience, a motive. As soon as something exist and two goons argue about it enters that realm. When good folk say, " I don't want things to be political" what they mean is that they don't want an agenda to political agenda to be center piece. I don't want your obtuse special interest agenda to invade my fucking hobby and take center stage at the cost of destroying the things i enjoy. look at dune for instance, it's obviously political in the sense it has a clear message, it uses arab inspired fremen and spice as a stand in for oil, clearly is has a political motivated message but the characters aren't a stand in for putin or bush, it has a message but it doesn't put the chart before the horse and attack anyone who questions the validity of resting on the moral arc of the universe to carry the day. the characters and the setting are fully realized unto themselves and are just a hack jawed stand in for the author to pigeon hole thinly veiled and poorly telegraphed takes, there's an enjoyable story conveyed and the ideas are carried by it. Another instance, lets take star trek before it was dog trash. In the original series, it was political to have a blackwomen as the equal to a white man on the bridge, but the show was a vehicle to tell stories, and these stories were entertaining first and foremost while also carrying roddenberry message of a hopeful future.

This talk of the frost wife considering his love "suffocating" and turning her into a certain garden implement so to speak... Reminds me of something I stumbled across on the YT shorts, where The Punisher was given a chance to have his wife back, and they made his wife be on the verge of divorcing him before she died, and she decides "you've turned into a monster and not the man I once loved" once she sees what he became to bring her back and/or avenge her... And I can't help but think its turning into a pattern of the writers being spiteful of love and marriage, and I imagine there's more cases of this I just haven't noticed/remembered.
3:10:45 I mean to be fair it's been rebooted a number of times. It's just that Lauren Faust's generation 4 was the one that stuck the most. This is so true... And sad because there was a good reason they were more effective than other clans during the invasion era (being the one clan that didnt neglect their logistics and not pissing off the populations of the worlds they conquered, same for their tukkayid win, its because they both dropped in dead last against an already tired opposition on purpose and because comstar went easy on them, seeing they were against the invasion, just forced to partake in it). I always like to say that clan wolf is what happens when clanners use their brain instead of their inadequate honor code and dont overestimate themselves. Nowadays though they are pure mary sues, getting completely undeserved wins (like, how the hell is the ungarrisoned wolf empire STILL not taken over even in a book that was supposed to be all about it?)

To be fair to Battletech. The earlier Clan invasions were by individual Clans that relied on speed and their superior mechs to push them forward. Once they got bogged down or outran their supply chains they hit a fall pretty fast. The exceptiion of course being Mary Sue Wolves. Hell, the main reason the Clans lost at Tukayiid was because of their fighting style of using a few as possible vs the Inner Sphere style of throw everything at it and Comstar used that against them. The IlClan era is where the Clans basically throw aside their idea of honor to the point where the Wolf leader refuses a batchall and the Wolves and Falcons work together. It's still fanfictiony, but the story did have potential...if it wasn't mostly just another Clan Wolf fanwank.
Thing is in the end they just threw the board back to zero AGAIN. Oh sure now it is the Wolf Empire and not Comstar or the Republic but the balance of power is once again back to zero. Pretty much after Fedcom fell I checked out of the lore. Because rather then a lore of political intrigue, espionage and conflict as everyone tries to grapple with the 800 pound bear in the room they just reset the board once their then current storyline ended. I think in the end the constant resets of the board are what has people checking out of IlClan more then anything. As at this point we know any major world changes beyond adding different paint schemes will be erased within 4 or 5 years for all intents and purposes. TLDR less the Wolves and more the writers not allowing stakes to exist in the overarching lore.

The big problem stopping 3d printers being in every house isn't the technical side of it but it's the fact the resin is toxic so you need a well ventilated space to use it. A lot of home printing hobbyists will probably be getting lung cancer 10 years down the road imho. That said indie and 'aa' miniature companies having printer farms for production is cutting down on costs whilst delivering higher quality products than traditional metal, resin and newer pvc/siocast moulding, especially with new flexible resin formulas designed for tabletop play.
How often do you think they print? Things smell much worse when I use paint. My printer has a filter and a hole where it vents that I can vent to outside.

FUCK YEAH, it's Raz0rfist!
GW already turned woke about ten years ago.
Yea i was also wondering if excessive gatekeeping is the better path
You're trying to engage them on their terms and hold them to standards they define. You accept their antiracism and antisexism frame of reference and try to out-virtue the leftists in a virtue contest they invented and perfected. You're playing their game, they will beat you every single time.
@@tristanrussell448 That is not even a question. It is the only solution.
@@slurmsmckenziesboombox8580 u know thats fair
Yeah. He's real dumb on this one topic. I legit almost always agree with the Dev-man, since I can at the *very least* always see the logic behind his arguments, even if I would prefer different solutions. But that is definitely not the case here. All you do when you agree to look at something through their framework is allow them to set you up for failure.
"Everything is political" serves two purposes:
> One, it allows them to take something that is a-political, or at the very least attempts to be universalist in its themes and messages, and then taint it.

The guys clueless.

FedCom civil war is pretty alright because it's essentially just a "5th succession war" vibe given off. It just doesn't really have anything to offer to people who either love or hate Kurita as they're spending all of it recovering from "Cat scratches"

Need-to-Add lore for Sarkon of Aggad
- A gay, black, female, inquisitor, by the name of Kime Braks (MIke Brooks), started a xenos integration program where "compatible" xenos where allowed residence in the imperium
- Sarkon, that horrible racist, was infuriated when several of the invited Drukhari kidnapped a bunch of children and turned them into meat-lamps and meat-sofas, as is only their nature, and declares his intention to stop this.
- Opposing an inquisitor gets him branded a heretic and traitor so this conflict immediately devolves into a civil war.
- Sarkon steals some of a new line of female space marine armor and has it modified so it fits and works for him. Also, a pair of chain axes.
- Sarkon eventually discovers that Kime Braks is actually in the thrall of one Jorj Soarus, a Tau Ethereal that has learned to influence the minds of humans as well as Tau.
Everything that you write is apart of your experiences through your culture and culture is political
politics is when two people exist.

I blame Warcraft for this tomfoolery. Blizzard(not activision) not only had them be slaves but they also decided to have the males do the hammer dance and females twerk in WoW. THEEEEN they made the Mag'har, aka Brown Orcs in the Burning Crusade. Before all this Orcs were mostly Mongolian Viking raiders. They were just a generic savage raiding "race" of people that everyone from around the world has dealt with at some point in their culture's history. This is so true...

Honestly. Stop inviting him on when theres something interesting to discuss. Blaghh Blahh lefty canadian position Blaghh Blaghhh we got it.
it really wasn't though, he didn't full lib-regarded like he did with Sargon
@iller3 I'm still so salty over him ruining that last stream. If I see him, I just watch something else. F that annoying, self-centered clown.
I ended up preordering the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra. GW pushed me past the point of no return lol
1:11:05 That one was more a Maxor invention but yeah Armstrong definitely steals the whole show by game's end.
If I can I'll 3d print some Tzeentch custodes.
You know what I am going for ;)
The only time gw partially digitized its buisiness was when you could order your custom built freeblade imperial knight through the mobile game warhammer 40k freeblade
The beta dude being on the left seemed very appropriated.
Razor said it best in the past. You gotta fight them on the existing fields and build strongholds without them
Raaaaaayzorfist 🤙
God speed
Arch and Razor are a really good combo. Toss in SFO for contrast and it becomes interesting.
Me ne feugo us my biggest fear. I don't want scocity to no longer care about being perceived as racist, but I think its inevitable at this point
Luetin is pretty cool dont hate :) arch is bit grimmer in tone and way of telling lore.
You clearly don't know what you are talking about and a pretty vile person gor basically wishing cancer on people that probably aren't going to get cancer.
Flexible resin? Wow you are slow... yeah you want resin that flexes so you can put paint on it and it cracks... you should stop talking
2:09:30 Not Minerva... Moloch. Look him up. Canaanite thing. Canaanite history and culture is relevant to know about. You'd love it. I have a book of anecdotes about and from the greatest post-war chancellor of Germany, Helmut Schmidt, in which he too reminisces about having been invited to the Bohemian Grove. He only commented on it as he "didn't like it and didn't go again" - which is the most diplomatic way to go about that madness.
Suffer not

The -Canadian- heretic to live!
Batman as steampunk guy? Is that a reference to Gotham by Gaslight? That came out in 1989 originally and I will admit I liked it. I liked the animated film a little better. Is there another portrayal of Batman in a steampunk setting?
Razorfist would be the best corn follower! All you need to do is annoy the writer enough.
36:00 So seeing that they made Carl into their IP, wouldn't he be able to sue them out rite by also being in the UK ?
"people are dying because they put rat poison in the drugs."
IDK, have you tried not doing any drugs? That would reduce the arm a whole lot.
The "I'm not hurting anyone but myself" argument is also weird because you're basically hurting everyone around you and the entire society.
No, not everything is political. Everything is political to THEM, it’s all a matter of perception and whether or not you’re indoctrinated to the cult.
If one has been hard wired and programmed to believe politics everywhere, they will see it everywhere.
Everybody knows Carl is an iron warrior. Lotus within lotus without
I take it you have heard about bo-ing?
(Laser appears on your foreheads)
NO!!! I HAVENT HEARD A DAMN THING!!!
20:28 I understood that reference
Not everything is political, but everything is *cultural*
do not tempt fate Arch, we don't need a fucking remake of MLP:FIM to happen just to spite the people who like it.
also: read the fanfiction "StarDust", a MLP / X-Com crossover fic. it's fantastic. sadly the sequel story stalled out and the author has been silent for some years. but as with other fanfictions, there is always the chance of the author returning to it. but it does a good job of maintaining the characters, while introducing the dark elements of X-com in a reasonable way. quite enjoy the X-com characters as well.
i am so glad i gave MLP a watch back in the day. only because of Q being in it, was why i watched out of curiosity. but it's got some fun stories in canon, and more importantly some great Fan works. never watched all of the show, though i should probably give the other episodes / seasons a chance, and not just the scattering i watched.
Thanks!
34:40 see that makes more sense. One could also make a case for nurgle, given his weight (I am admittedly p fat tho)
