This was something the PSX lacked and made every 3D games a wobbly mess. Usually, PC and DC ports get that too but it seems Capcom was very lazy and didn't care about a very basic 3D enhancement until the Gamecube port.

You should mention the sourcenext PC version, which has highest quality FMVs and an improved resolution, which has an unofficial patch by Gemini which translates the game to English, adds improved controller support, has graphics fixes. By the way, a year ago SHDP was ported to this port with inventory textures added (Which couldn't be added to dolphin due to technical reasons), which makes this the definitive version of the game (along with the mediakite version of RE1 and sourcenext version of RE2 with REbirth patches ofc)
i tried the original PSX version, later on the PC (back in 2009) then dolphin and now testing the dreamcast version so far the gamecube its my favorite
Sad than Resident Evil 3 port are not so great, unlike RE2 who's give good port, specially the N64 version who's a miracle for the time ! For me the best port is the Gamecube Version but by default because is not great ! I'm also thinking on why Capcom don't port RE3 on N64, I don't think that is more difficult to do than the RE2 N64 Port, the game is only on 1 disc and they got "less" content than the 2nd game ? Great video BTW, on maybe the classic RE than people forget, and that is a shame because RE3 is Awesome, with a great story and great charactère, specially Jill !
It probably didn't make sense to port RE3 to N64, since both cycles are coming to an end. Then again seems Capcom didn't put too much effort into this. So guess is what it is. Naw thank you for watching Ace and real glad you loved it!
Ace Bunny I don’t have a source but RE3 & Code Veronica were made around the same time. Sony asked for another RE game due to their popularity on the console. Code Veronica was originally supposed to be RE3 but that changed once Sony went to capcom for another game.
Ports for this game came at the worst possible times. Dreamcast version came out when SEGA and Capcom just about to give on Dreamcast,PC port... well that's just Capcom they never good at PC ports especially back in those day. and Gamecube version came out when they're have all their hands full developing games on PS2 and RE4 on Gamecube so they only have time to clean up textures and FMV.
It was most likely due to the fact they were developing Resident Evil 0 for the N64 at the time which would of course sadly be moved over to the GameCube due to the N64's early demise.
If you are playing this on Windows 10 anything you have should be fine. It's an extremely low demanding game so it can be easily run. For age appropriate hardware I'm afraid it's out of my expertise. I haven't really recorded using older hardware on PC titles
I think the best version is the PS1 version because you they're cheaper and it's essentially the same thing but the GC version is very nice but you pay the price when spending about 80 bucks
Great video bro I’ve been playing a lot of the classic re games and I noticed that the zombies aren’t as hostile compared to the remake counter parts especially re2 remake those fuckers chase you down and it’s a little harder to avoid them and lickers can tank shotgun shells like nothing maybe it’s because I played on hardcore but nonetheless they are all fun. I can never get the doge mechanic to work in re3 classic lol
DC version is now my personal favorite since it have all the extras unlocked right away. Game GUI on VMU screen was also pretty damn cool. And have better audio and models than PS1 original. Also it have creepy screen when you don't have enough blocks to save game and Nemesis shows up. GC have higher quality FMV and a bit smoother models than DC but that's about it pretty low effort port from Capcom.
GC with seamless mod is my goto. Looks great and plays great. Sure, you have to play the game a couple times to get everything, but it's still the same old RE3 and you can turbo through the boring parts thanks to emulation.
One problem though is that there's a lot of lag when the camera is switched and the menu text isn't like the Original. You can look that video up. There's a difference port which is more accurate to the PS1 Version but better. Man that Jill Picture in high quality is cool in the Status menu.
@@MariusBoss11458 I have to make a concession since I also run the PC version. There are things that I understand I have to give or take when it comes to some emulations.
@@somecoder3054 I saw the version again and the REborn version is actually the Japanese version. It's a little problem for me because it's easier than the American Version. Same for RE2.
gamecube looks the prettiest pc you can skip door animations because they can get annoying, i get the tension thing, but it is not always special with heartbeat ect.. and a nice option to have if you want to skip also there are mods wich seemingly give it a better look HUGE downside for pc is.. that you CANT continue after completion. in every other version you start the game with every item carried over from your previous runthrough also it is rewarding because you always get a costume.. pc version you have to GUESS wich costum.. if you pick the wrong one you gotta start over.. thats stupid
I choose the Dreamcast cast version hands down and yes I like all the other consoles but if I only could play one it would be the Dreamcast version especially for the controls at the time would fit for a Dreamcast controller all I'm saying is they're all the same with some changes here and there
That's inherently the problem I have with them, that they are all the same with little changes here and there. Capcom could have optimized issues like the FMVs and easier VMU functions similar to RE2 yet chose to opt out
yo kelphelp, will you consider making a resident evil 1 (original) comparison ? because all versions not only different in terms of graphics, fmvs & ports, but resident evil 1 has exclusive features in each version
Love how they just didn't care about using floating point calculations in the other versions. PS1 could'nt calculate float numbers (which is why 3d models are "shaking" a little) so the game was coded without it and they didn't bother updating it for the other platforms.
My biggest gripe with the PC version is that it doesn't allow d-pad support. I've always played the OGs with the d-pad and playing with joysticks is difficult for me. I am however confident that the upcoming Classic Rebirth patch will fix this like it did for PC version of Dino Crisis.
Services and programs like Joy to Key allow you to tie macros to your controller so it is very much possible to play it like that. I played a couple PC titles like that and it works wonders
@@Kelphelp I tried mapping with JoyToKey but I can't run and turn with the d-pad. I can run in a straight line but she stutters when I turn making it impossible to play correctly.

The controller on the PC version is fine, its the original CD controls just because kids now days only have 4 brain cells left and can only learn to use 4 buttons doesn't make the controls bad
No it's bad. You can't map controls to modern controls other than JoyToKey, it uses an outdated PC playing style of DOS games. You can't sit here with a straight face and tell me old PC games have simple control layouts. Some haven't aged well at all . This is one of em

The PC version seems identical, save for the poor FMVs (I do know it was pretty glitchy though). The GC has waaaay too-deep black levels: the game's supposed to be dark, but that's overkill.
The dreamcast version looks like the best backgrounds.
These PVPs are great. They are def helping me decide which versions of these games I'm going to play. Are you planning on doing a Port Vs Port for Resident Evil 4?
Thank you for the words man! Actually PVP of Resident Evil 4 is very very likely. Its like...13 versions so that will take sucha long time to work! But i'll get to that whenever the time feels right!
great videos. i wish you all the success
And I wish you a big fat thabk you for watching. Always appreciate when folks take time out their day to do so
I really love this game.
Glad it's being remade.
Coming from Katarn himself, this says alot honestly.
same here too bro Resident Evil 3 was my first Resident Evil game and that when i became a huge fan of the series and i even like the movies too with Milla Jovovich she is so sexy as hell and i became a huge fan of her and i really dig those Resident Evil movies 1-6 2002-2017
Ps1 version all the way.
I did not even know that other versions exist.
It just has a charm on ps1 that its just unbeatable.
The pc of RE3 has the sourcenext ver and applied with classic rebirth the game comes perfectly ported, it removes the wobbly models, high res textures and moddable.
Gemini did a great job with thr classic Rebirth series. Always love his modding work
Fantastic video. I'm paying the remake right now, and 3 original is one of my favorites all time.
Very glad you loved it bro makes me happy. One of these days ima get the remake like I mentioned on stream. It was absolutely a dream to play in every capacity.
In the GC version the character models are smoother than PS1 and DC. You can also skip cut scenes by pressing start.
True the skip feature is a great addition
4:26 he also reminds me of Eddie from Iron Maiden. It wouldn't be weird considering that Claire's jacket was a clear reference to the song Made in Heaven by the band Queen
I'm very sure it was a reference to that, and maybe a little of Led Zepplin with the flying angel. Dope jacket
😁 I've got the GameCube version of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. 🌞 It's the only version, that I, can actually play. 🙂 RE3: Nemesis, is the first RE game, I played. 🙂 The first version when I started playing it was the PC. :-)
Its really solid for sure and does play nicely. A good version!
The background on PS1 are 240p, but for PC and Dreamcast they used higher resolution assets on many (the majority?) of them.
Yea should be like 480i I think if I remember. Just the way it's presented on PC has a smoothing filter which looks weird
Super travail j'adore tes vidéos
Merci beaucoup! Plus de vidéos à venir bientôt! Espérons que vous apprécierez!
I didn't have it on hand so I couldn't mention it here. GEMINI does amazing work with his mods, and I love that he does.
OG Re3 on ps4 whaa? O...o
i tried the original PSX version, later on the PC (back in 2009) then dolphin and now testing the dreamcast version
so far the gamecube its my favorite
I do like that version alot. A bit darker but works very well
@@Kelphelp maybe its an emulation issue but with Redream there seems to a be a bit of delay
Why were the gamecube ports of re2 and re3 so dark?
Have no idea. That's how it came out in my captures
Ace Bunny
I don’t have a source but RE3 & Code Veronica were made around the same time.
Barebare kun
Now today they rushed RE3 because of their deadline and likely because of this C-Virus going on.
It was most likely due to the fact they were developing Resident Evil 0 for the N64 at the time which would of course sadly be moved over to the GameCube due to the N64's early demise.
For the PC version, which graphic card is the best?
If you are playing this on Windows 10 anything you have should be fine. It's an extremely low demanding game so it can be easily run.
For age appropriate hardware I'm afraid it's out of my expertise. I haven't really recorded using older hardware on PC titles
I think the best version is the PS1 version because you they're cheaper and it's essentially the same thing but the GC version is very nice but you pay the price when spending about 80 bucks
Hey this video turned out great!
You helped me big time honestly making it sound like this. Thank you boo ❤
ps1 version cannot be played on PS4 period regardless whether its digital or physical
Yes I was just about to type that, PS4 sucks and why I skip it last gen
So the dreamcast and PC versions of RE3 were rushed cash grabs. Just like RE3Remake.
It all comes back to where it started right?
Great video bro I’ve been playing a lot of the classic re games and I noticed that the zombies aren’t as hostile compared to the remake counter parts especially re2 remake those fuckers chase you down and it’s a little harder to avoid them and lickers can tank shotgun shells like nothing maybe it’s because I played on hardcore but nonetheless they are all fun. I can never get the doge mechanic to work in re3 classic lol
Glad ya loved it man. I haven't had the chance to try out the Remake but if they that brootal gonna need to play it when i can!
8:12 DUUUUDE that's a PC WALLPAPER?
Please tell me where can I get it! I'm already suscribed! Love your content.
Much appreciated thank you man! Wallpaper engine is your friend. Check it on steam
Gamecube's version looks good, but it's too dark. In the end, I prefer to play the original version.
Same for RE2.
gamecube looks the prettiest
pc you can skip door animations because they can get annoying, i get the tension thing, but it is not always special with heartbeat ect.. and a nice option to have if you want to skip
also there are mods wich seemingly give it a better look
HUGE downside for pc is.. that you CANT continue after completion.
in every other version you start the game with every item carried over from your previous runthrough also it is rewarding because you always get a costume..
pc version you have to GUESS wich costum.. if you pick the wrong one you gotta start over.. thats stupid
Oh, wow!
That "Seamless HD Project" looks way too good to ignore
Haven't played it myself but its an option for sure!
Yes, it looks amazing!
I like the dreamcast version
Very much would and I been thinking abkut it actually. Damn you know what.....i got all the games so uh.....maybe I should start!
did the game cube just delete brightness?
Yes. It died in a fire
@@Kelphelp lmao
Dreamcast rom on redream Android is incredible
I never tried redream on android but I'd be willing to try.
@@Kelphelp you should it's so good
I may. I'm not a fan of emulators on mobile but may try for the hell of it
Love how they just didn't care about using floating point calculations in the other versions. PS1 could'nt calculate float numbers (which is why 3d models are "shaking" a little) so the game was coded without it and they didn't bother updating it for the other platforms.
Brad:Jill, help!
Jill: ...nah.
The Gamecube version is damn good and my favorite version.
Agreed. It holds up very nicely and solid in every way. Perf
Yes, the best image is in the GameCube version
@@ramiroalvarez1490 The cutscenes are even in 30 FPS!
Cool!
IMO gamecube version looks much better but I love to play ps1 version more because of nostalgia
Feel ya on that my dude! PS1 holds up very very nicely.
A shame this was posted a year before Classic Rebirth came out for RE3. Such a better experience now on PC
Been hearing about how good it is. Might not be a bad idea to revisit it
Is the PSX version really playable on PS4? The digital store page said its only for PS3
Typo on my part. Didn't have time to edit in post when it was exporting
@@daveweaver3886 Hmmm guess in instances it isn't perfect then. It did work for me as well as using a Steam Controller but other instances I could for sure see a problem.
@@Kelphelp I'll probably just wait for the Classic Rebirth but thanks for trying to help.
Had no idea this was ported to GameCube!
Haha. I already have Biohazard 3: Last Escape lol. Both PS1 & GameCube. Just need the Dreamcast. Personally, I prefer the GameCube port. It runs smoothly, but the audio is kinda low. Which I don’t mind. 🙌🏾
I feel like they could've did better with the dreamcast being that it was a powerful console gor its time, As for the gamecube being the darker port feel like it gives that dark horror game look
They could have but wasn't possible. The team was working heavily on Code Veronica so dividing assets for a port didn't make sense in their eyes.
Gamecube version is the best , hands down , and you can improve the lighting of the screen in your tv customization , at least playing on my GC the game doesn’t look so dark.
Im currently playing the gamecube version of rs3 on my phone. I think gamecube version of rs3 is the best among them. Why not do same content but on emulator versions?
What phone do you use on emulator? Thanks
Any idea where I can download the screensaver you're using at 8:25? That's so awesome
Wallpaper Engine! Best place to get some very cool wallpapers
after playing the 3 remake all i wanna do is try the original! it looks so much better 😭
Give it a shot, shouldn't be too expensive these days
the rebirth mod for pc fixes all of your issues its my go to choice till this day
8:13 IS THAT FROM THE GAME
Nope that's my wallpaper.
@@Kelphelp A sick one that moves too. Is it a Day and Night Cycle? That would also be super Awesome!
@@Kelphelp i know this doesnt have anything to do with the video, which i enjoyed btw, but what wallpaper was that? How did you get it to move?
@@MrQuequito all good man! That was wallpaper engine that I use. I change it every so often
Wow, what is that animated background at 8.21 and where from
It's a Cyberpunk animated wallpaper I found on a steam app. Forgot the name but should be animated wallpapers there
Pretty cool desktop background, is that a W10 thing or do you use a program to have interactive elements on the desktop?
I use Wallpaper Engine on stream for only 3 bucks. It has tons of user made backgrounds and many that are animated. Doesn't seem to use too many resources and perfect for a desktop computer.
@@Kelphelp Thanks!
@@TechniqueSan No problm dude.
@@Kelphelp what is the wallpaper from this video? its so cool
I forgot what it was. I think it was a Cyberpunk layout? It's been a while
Where can I get the OG pc version
Ebayyyyy
@@Kelphelp damn I'm not in America, but thanks anyway
@@Kelphelp is the pc version 2 disc or 1 disc
From what I remember this version was 1 disc in US
Both Dreamcast and Gamecube version are hard to come by and can be pretty expensive.
So I just stick to the Playstation version I played on PS1,PS2,PS3 and Vita.
RE3R turned to be a big disappointment.
At 5:25 you say that the PS Store version of the game can be played on PS4? i think there are no BC for PS1 games on PS4 at all, i don't have the console but if i login into PS store, RE 3 nemesis and other PS1 games i own, only appears compatible with PS3, PSP and PS Vita.
Typo on my part. As I was exporting the video I didn't have enough time to correct it unfortunetly.
Wait, you can get the original resident evil game on ps4 digitally
another important thing you never mention .... the loading
Capcom really should hire the guys from the seamless mod to make a remaster
Give that thought just s couple of hours and a new video gonna hit ya
You can use a playstation classic controller out the box as a controller on the pc version it works perfectly w/o any software.
Oh wow interesting so it takes it natively! Good to know, I had no idea honestly! Appreciate the heads up.
@@Kelphelp Dualshock 4 works as well but since the controller options will detect the second stick as always being pushed up, you have to enter the values directly in the game's INI instead.
Is that the Pal version. I have the Ntsc and I swear the frame rates look like 60fps when I play Re3 on the Ps1.
No I am using a US version and whatever is recorded on the video is how it is on the TV
👍👍👍👍👍
