What's up, guys? I've been quiet, but I've been riding (and flying and other things). Decided to ride somewhere different and on the YZ250X nonetheless. Hope you enjoy something besides Aztec because I know I sure did! Also, take a journey through the weird place that is my mind and see how I approach jumps (for better or worse). ; )
Sweet video!!! I hope to get this bike by next spring/summer. I still want to ride mx tracks, but not aggressively, some desert, some trails, some sand. Seems like this bike can do all of that.
It's an interesting free ride area for sure. Glad to have it as an option very close by, and it certainly changes things up from the usual. How have things been with your riding lately?
@@Oni76 nah.. haven't been riding for almost a month now. I've been really busy at renovating my home. I hope I will be able to put down some laps soon :)
This is the bike I hope to have someday, I miss screwing around on an MX track from time to time. This seems like the perfect bike for a little of this and a little of that.....
I do agree that its adequate for MX and trails without being too much of a compromise to one or the other (although, the suspension leans towards trails).
Aztec is only open on the weekends for practice, and for race weekends, they will typically have a practice day and races the following day. And no bike size restrictions. RAM Off-Road Park is literally the property right next to Aztec Raceway, but RAM is open every day unless weather or an event changes that.
You're making me so jealous I have a 2016 KX450 that I absolutely hate it's decked out to the gills pipe fab bars handguards you name it as soon as I can get rid of it I'm going and buying me a yz250x missing two strokes
Why do you hate it so much? Sounds like an awesome ride! I know with my riding level that I'm slower on the 2-stroke, but I just enjoy having a different experience riding it. I'm happy to have it, but I'm also very glad to have my YZ250F as well for riding the track.
I grew up riding four strokes and two strokes Strokes we had when I was a kid didn't Rev or run like the ones we have today the two strokes haven't changed a whole bunch I guess I'm just more comfortable on a two stroke but the biggest reason is we do a lot of single track Woods riding and that 450 just wears me out it's either throwing me off the back or when you let off throwing you over the bars there's no happy medium I find myself just struggling to keep a hold of the Beast it's crazy with it being a big 450 Thumper you would think it would have all kinds of lugging power in the higher gears when climbing a hill but it doesn't it will just sneeze and die to where a two stroke will lug and just tractor up the hills I have a cousin who said I could probably put a flywheel weight on it and it would probably lug a little better it's so much work it takes the fun out of it
Paul, I can understand that. I agree that a flywheel weight (and maybe even a rekluse or similar) would make a world of difference on that bike. I can certainly attest that the 2-strokes can lug easier than the 4-strokes MX bikes with their light flywheels. When I ride my YZ250F in the woods, the slow sections get me paranoid about stalling, and it just feels like the revs want to drop so fast (granted they rev up fast too). Hope you find a happy medium soon, buddy.
@@whipitjr6142 , thanks. I have not yet done either series despite being interested. Usually I'll tag along if several of my buddies are doing it, but none of my riding buddies typically do either. :(
Hey man question, is it difficult to track the x? As far as how the power valve opens up a bit slower than a normal yz? Or do I just suck at track riding? lol
If I recall right, it's 172 on the main and 45 on the pilot. Not lean enough up at higher elevation, but then again I haven't fouled a plug yet (I'm off the pipe more than on) nor needed the absolute extra oomph around 8500-9000' MSL. I leave it as is for a "happy medium" between Springs and out west.
@@againstmywill23, congrats and hope you enjoy. I chose the YZ250X for price, reliability, parts availability, and mainly the suspension. It's been a great bike thus far, and I would love to hear your thoughts after you get a chance to ride it.
Oni, I put an hour or so on the bike but still working on jetting. Got it close then put a TurbineCore 2 on it and now it’s a bit rich. I’m at 172 and 45 like you but I dropped the Power Jet to a 40 vs 50. Other than that I really like it, really smooth pull when you want it and it lugs up hills great.
Austin, suspension is still stock so no revalve done. I only made adjustments on the clickers and high speed compression. I can't recall specifics, but I simply added more high speed compression, added a few clicks on low speed as well, slowed down the rebound, and made adjustments on the forks as well (similar in more compression, slower rebound).
Austin, it's hard to say. If you have a local shop or suspension technician in the area, I'd highly suggest speaking with them. They can help figure out if the spring is right or if it's a tuning issue with the clickers. I'm by no means a pro at this, so I'd recommend more professional and experienced service if available locally.
Austin, it felt like I was able to mostly get rid of it, but there may be some bottoming in the rear still. I still had some range to go on the high speed compression, and that obviously had the biggest effect on bottoming resistance.

Thanks, and I think it can do all of that quite well. Haven't ridden any desert myself, but I honestly think it's better the faster you go.
Really wanting a 250 2 banger from yammy over my 450. Videos like this make me more keen on one even more. And the sound is so good.
Glad to see another one of your videos! This looks like an interesting place to ride. It has a little bit of everything :)

Trevor Piranha approves of the hand guards!
Good job..we all get that one stupid jump thing..cool track
The x is for trail riding right is that why it’s soft on the motor cross trails
She sounds crisp when you rev her out!
I agree. You'd think I'd do it more often, but things get kinda fast! :)
Great ride

What's the name of this track and what state is it in?
RAM Off-Road Park in Colorado
My dads gonna do the giant ravine jump in the back

Also what suspension settings have you settled on for track riding?
What did you settle on for jetting here in the springs and do you change much when you go to 717?
