Sky internet is terrible i download 2 games and it completely slows down my internet even after i paus the downloads or turn off my system it still keeps that same speed
might be a router issue. is the router firmware up to date. is it a good router... get them to send you another one if its no good. Also are you doing this gaming wired or wifi... as wifi aint good!

@Nathan_1617 aka Skeleratis and Nathan Wig prety much yeah nowadays we upgraded to a better model now and it runs much better still has a few problems but not to the extent of our last Internet
Thanks, really made a difference for me as i'm one of those unhappy BT customers. I was getting 5.1 Mbps download over wifi, now getting 51.87 Mbps. That's a big difference. Thanks for posting the video.
I just did it as you said. My BT service was quick enough, but had to try it to see if there was any improvement at all. I am well impressed as there seems to still be an improvement on all pc's and the phones here. Have to say that Ive been with BT and predecessors for 20 odd years. Shit as they may be Ive stuck with them! Ive had so many rediculas issues with them over the years...but know no better, so when problems have occurred I have hounded them relentlessly to put them right! ....and usually come out on top. I took the offer of fibre from them about 6 years ago. Even tho I was getting gigantic scores on many diferent speed tests their so called high speed fibre was deffinitly NOT faster than my usual broadband. I hoofed it back at them pronto. 6 months ago I believed the new offer of the much improved fibre offer. Even I questioned that the phone wire coming into my house was at least 30 years old...and questioned "How possible was I going to benefit from their fibre with this feeble wire coming into my house" They convinced me to give it a try, on the 14 day trial process. because of the similar cost to my existing broadband I went for it. Mmmmmm....Im happy enough with it to be honest. I loved the principle of the point of your vid....so had to give it a try. It DOES work! Thank you for that my friend.
Quick update. BT Homehub 6 (as supplied with BT Infinity) does not allow you to change the DNS servers so you have to change them on every connected device. However, I found that OpenDNS was faster than Google's public DNS. OpenDNS does some phishing site filtering though. Not sure what Google filter with theirs.
Hi Matthew, like your videos thumbs UP from me, Only thing I find about your videos is the swearing, I would love to tell my Grandson to watch them to pick your tips up but hes only 7 and I wouldnt want his Mum blaming me ( and you) for picking up bad language. Give it like a week or two, and just hope that they're weak enough to want to bribe you back by giving you great deals. But as a disclaimer, my dad tried this with Sky as he had to pay a shit tonne per month for his next monthly plan. Unfortunately Sky didn't budge D:

So far BT has been good for me, the speed is good and unlike Virgin, who I was with before, they don't throttle me down. I was with NTL for years and they were very good, fast and reliable with no data caps. Inevitably though they were taken over by Virgin and the service started slipping, sure the speeds were ok just as long as you didn't actually use it. If I used it for anymore than an hour it would get throttled back, making anything I was doing way more difficult than it should have been. This went on for about a year until I'd finally had enough and I told them where to stick their service and joined BT, that was over 3 years ago now and so far I've been very happy with them.
I used to be with bt but am now with plusnet. Much better for me especially when gaming online. Hardly any disconnects and pages open in an instant and I have the same upstream and download speeds as before. And half the price of bt!
I have Sky and to be fair it serves my needs pretty well usually.Ive noticed of late google and YT hang more and I suspect throttling may be occuring.Would your top tip work for other providers gifting similar problems as BT dole out? Cheers always love your no crap presentations.
WWE Plug Click Wi-fi in settings. Find the router you are currently using. Hit the ‘i’ ok far right of your router. Find DNS and click Manuel. Type in 8888 and away ya go!

Used opendns a very very very long time ago and switched to google dns when it became available only difference I have it changed on my DHCP server so every device gets assigned google dns
BT filter at a DNS level. That is how they block certain web sites or redirect to copyright warning pages. This has to be part of the problem. You can change the name servers at the router so they are DHCP'd to all devices that connect to it. It is not just BT. I can remember in the old days Demon Internet did not update their DNS for days so if you moved a web site you wouldn't be able to traceroute to the new location for days. I think BT is quite slow at updating too - based on my experience at work.
Thanks Gordon. What ive notied is you can wait 30 seconds sometimes on some peoples BT broadbands and after putting in alternate DNS the pages come up immediately. Have you found it works for you sometimes. I would suggets giving it a go on stubborn installations of BT. You will still get the blocks on some pages with copyright but for some reason it all speeds up after tring other DNS... so gawd knows why, but it really does work.
Yes, it is very inconsistent. I have been using alternative DNS from practically day one with BT. I would need to switch back to test it again! Thats a shame... you do need to call them a number of times to get an engineer to visit usually twice before they will start swapping out lines.
Matthew Williams called them about 20 times. They have sent engineers out twice and he said there was a bad wire but he said he “fixed” it. Assholes

You arent going to understand the next bit but if you get a techie on it in person they will probably need to check your WPS on the router - see if your authenticated. Also you will need to try changing the routers wifi protocol maybe from wps to wep and try alternate grades of encryption as some phones are awkward over what encryption schema they can use. Sometimes if you simplify the password from alphanumeric to HEX string this can avoid ASCII issues in the password which might be causing the router to not like the phone.
