    I just wanted to say that as an atheist, childfree, career focused woman I was skeptical about clicking on the videos youtube recommended to me. I had heard some criticism in the community about your views and advice. But your channel is the one I've come back to the most ove the past week. You seem so kind and generous and I love how inclusive and non-judgmental you are in your videos. I love learning more about cultivating my feminine qualities and caring for my spouse as a balance to my more masculine and career focused side. Please keep being kind and making videos for all the feminine sisters out there💙

      Agree! I'm a PhD-to-be, not religious and not even in a relationship at the moment. But I honestly don't understand where did all this criticism come from. Even if I can't agree with everything she says, doesn't mean I should dismiss her insights completely and straightup judge her! Her lifestyle is not less valuable than a career-driven one.

      Im not suprised at all. Awhile back she did a video about feminine beauty. It was the most inclusive video on beauty I've ever seen. It had photos of black women with natural hair, muslim women in hijab, older women, and i think maybe even disabled women. It was a great video. She seems to be inclusive all around. Atheists a d those in non agreement tend to gather here, which speaks volumes in my opinion. She is my favorite femininity voice.

    I use to feel the same about my chest, I was envious of girls who could buy cute bras while I had to pick plain, neutral colors. I also hated that it was the first thing guys noticed about me but as I grew up I learned to be grateful for the body God gave me because I meet so many women who want a larger chest & are willing to get surgery just to have one. I pray every person is able to love the body they're born with ❤

  • @kawaii_cozy9869
    @kawaii_cozy9869 5 років тому +58

    I love this! However, I wouldn’t totally throw plastic surgery out the window. I actually had a breast reduction. I went from a 32DD to a 32B. Before, it was very difficult to find affordable bras in my size and it looked SO wrong with the rest of my body, not to mention I had back pain. (I’m 5’2 and only 100 pounds) i can honestly say getting a reduction is one of the best decisions I ever made. Even my family and husband agrees. I can finally get affordable bras, i don’t have to get size medium to large shirts, now I get size small shirts, and it’s seriously boosted my confidence. I also used to get cat called and whistled at and now that has stopped which is a HUGE relief. So I agree to focus on things you can change, but some things (where surgery is involved) can be helpful.

    • @azurevalleys
      @azurevalleys 5 років тому +6

      Gloria Martin So glad about that change for you! I think the sentiments for plastic surgery are more of finding something wrong with your features and thinking you’ll be happy if this one thing looks different vs a surgery with practical application too! Plastic surgery can definitely be useful sometimes. 😊

    • @lemonycatapult7300

      Lemony Catapult it is cosmetic. I didn’t need to have it done. My insurance wouldn’t even cover it because it wasn’t medically necessary. I paid out of pocket and I’m very happy with it. :)

    • @lemonycatapult7300
      @lemonycatapult7300 5 років тому +3

      Gloria Martin But it was also an issue of comfort, very different than someone bringing in a picture of Kylie Jenner and saying “give me her nose”.

    • @kawaii_cozy9869
      @kawaii_cozy9869 5 років тому +5

      Lemony Catapult I understand what you’re saying. But I also think if getting a new nose or something makes someone happy, then why not? I’m not saying that if you have self esteem issues then plastic surgery is the answer. I’m saying that if you’ve done your research and really want to have it done, without thinking it will make you happier (because that comes from within), then go for it. We shouldn’t judge others for the decisions they choose to make. The main motivation of me getting a breast reduction was because I wanted smaller boobs to go with my small frame. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Who are we to say what is wrong and what is right? Let people live and be happy. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @amandazplace5663
    @amandazplace5663 5 років тому +28

    Thank you, Caitlyn, for including your faith in this "glow up" process. There is a lot of misunderstanding around "selfcare" in the Christian female community. My fear is that it's imposing guilt/shame on women for attending to their appearance; the message being that it's shallow & self-worship. I agree with you 100% about our bodies being a temple (for the Holy Spirit). Of course, our internal beauty matters SO MUCH more than our external beauty. But, as someone who has dealt with depression/anxiety, sometimes behaviours lead to internal change & growth. Exercising, taking care of your hair & skin etc can slowly change your internal negative script and help us know we are already loved by God. For some, it's working on the internal first, or both at the same time. 🌸🌸🌸

First it was the relationship part, but then it was my body...accepting where I was, but that I can and am worthy of change. Then it was my hair. I had 3 years worth of grey/platinum hair grown out. I went for the chop girl. Shortest hair of my life, but...I’m growing out my natural hair now 🥰 with a few face framing highlights leftover. Also, I’ve been cutting back on my food and working out..eating healthier (most of the time). But yeah I had to really be more disciplined about where I wanted to be with my best self.

    You are so inspiring! For so many years I convinced myself that I was being a "good Christian" by not looking in the mirror or spending any time on myself in terms of looks, etc. I'm slowly learning that I need to be better balanced. Doing literally nothing for my looks, health, current place in life isn't healthy and spending hours and hours every day wouldn't be either. This is the gentle nudge I need that it's okay to Glow Up. That by taking a little GU time I can be the light I need to be without being so self conscious or even hiding due to my presence. Thank you!

    I didn't expect to like this video ... I couldn't have been more wrong. I am so impressed by the focus on balance, heart, mind, embracing unique features and ethnicity, being realistic and logical/rational, exploring where your ideas about beauty and your regimen (or lack thereof) come from, and how to adjust them to better serve yourself, others, and God, if that's part of your world view. Thank you for your courage and generosity in putting yourself out there to share this very helpful, intelligent, and kindhearted video. I re-watched it to take notes so I could better absorb the wisdom and use it to go on my own glow up journey. xo

    Making changes for love, love of oneself especially, is the only way to make lasting change. Changes from fear or losing something or from spite will always be short lived. I know because each time I try to change, lose weight, etc. the motivation fades. I still don’t fully love myself but I’m getting closer, and the closer I get the more I can care for my body. I’m glad you put so much emphasis on the mental aspect of a glow up because it’s true. If your minds not right there’s no change you can make that will be sustainable long term. You are truly beautiful, the kind of beauty that comes from the root and from going through the difficulties of cleansing ones soul, and those who wish to stamp you out seek to destroy what they don’t understand, one of those things being pure love and beauty.

I've been bleaching my hair( due to jealousy or my mother and my siblings all having red or blonde hair and I have a little more of the darker hair color), but instead of wearing black and bleaching my hair, I am now going toward the warm colors that accentuate my auburn strands and I'm doing the no poo method thanks to you. One thing I want to tell so many younger women is to stop wearing makeup to try to change the way you look but instead wear just enough to enhance your natural feminine features. I literally hated having a large chest for so long because I couldn't ever where the clothing styles I wanted because my large chest would make the outfit look so awkward. I’ve never struggled with over confidence, but I’ve struggled greatly in the past (especially in my young teens) with the opposite side of this. Hating myself, my body, my height, etc. it took me a very long time to overcome this state of self-loathing. And of course we are always growing and learning, so I still struggle with self esteem to a degree but much less than before. You are so right when you say neither over confidence nor self loathing is healthy! It’s definitely not! Thank you for being so encouraging to women and speaking to all sides of the equation. 💕

    I watched your other “glow up” video, but this one was even better. The “why” behind improving our aesthetic is so important, especially when I have always struggled with self worth. It’s easy to discourage myself because I’m being “vain” or “insecure.” No! There is nothing wrong with caring for our bodies!!! Like you said, it affects everyone around us positively and our own mental health so much! God made our bodies- they are temporal, yes, but not to be looked down upon. We are made in the image of God! Sending out love to anyone who thinks they don’t deserve to put effort into their appearance or that it’s wrong to care about how we look. Like you said, it’s all about balance.
