On some brake pads the brake pad squealers/wear indicators come built in on to them and some you have to install yourself from the supplied kit. I usually leave them off because of personal preference and I just don't like them. Sometimes they interfere with the installation of the brake pads itself so I just leave them off. My customers typically come to me for routine brake inspection so it's not all that necessary to have them on.
Fair enough. I recently had a squealing brake complaint on a 2016 Sienna and found that someone had installed 2 wear indicators per pad (4 per wheel). Surprisingly, they actually fit (really tight) but created a spring tension on all the abutment hardware parts that vibrated and caused allot of noise.
I'll try it. Tnx Moose.
You didn't install the wear indicator clip on the brake pad. Reason>?
