2011 Dodge Journey 2.4 - Headlights & Wipers Inoperative Diagnostics - Part 1
In today's video we are working on a 2011 Dodge Journey with the 2.4 liter engine. Today, the customer dropped off their vehicle for me to diagnose due to various electrical issues they are having. The headlights and wipers and a few other things are not working. This vehicle was recently at another shop in which the mechanic stated that it needs a BCM (Body Control Module) computer and told the customer to take their vehicle to the Chrysler dealership to have it fixed.
Was the other shop/mechanic correct in their diagnosis? Or were they just not interested in doing the repair and fixing it? We will find out in this video as I go along to find the easiest way to diagnose and check several things to come to the conclusion as to what the problem is. Enjoy!

    Any issues with the plastic drain petcocks breaking ever? I want to try my Corolla but the Canadian winters aren’t kind to brittle plastic

      @moosemobileautorepair 6 годин тому

      Never had an issue with them all these years even in the rust belt where I live. The plastics are well made on these ones. For as long as the vehicle has had regular service you should be OK. I have not had one break on me before on Toyotas.

    I watched the video again, so if i don't have a temp gauge. Would be okay if I let the engine idle for 30min and just wait for the cooling Fan to Turn On and Off TWICE? is it safe to say that there are no more bubbles?Thank you again.

    • @moosemobileautorepair
      @moosemobileautorepair 6 годин тому

      Yes that should be OK. Sometimes may take longer than 30 minutes. But if the cooling fan cycles on and off at least twice during the bleeding procedure then you should be OK after that.

    My Toyota Corolla 2008 had the same issue. Replaced bot starter and ignition switch and then at random times it simply wouldn’t start. I ordered a Denso ignition relay switch from Amazon 17 dollars ,and then paid a garage 45 dollars to install the new one. Doing it myself was nearly impossible. You need a relay switch puller and also the laying on your back and trying to get to it with your hand is nearly impossible.

    Hi how are things. I'm having trouble with the strap size. I changed the tensioner because it was making noise, I put a 7pk1685 belt on it, which is the same one I had before and the indicator is still bad almost to the last. Can you help me with the strap measurement? thank you greetings

    • @moosemobileautorepair
      @moosemobileautorepair 11 днів тому

      What kind of tensioner did you install on it? Sometimes some of the aftermarket tensioners are junk and don't work well or at all like some Dayco tensioners are junk. The same belt size should work if the tensioner is good/OK. Sometimes you can use a slightly longer belt in some cases if you are having trouble. The tensioner should cycle throughout the entire range and shouldn't get stuck. You may need to reposition the tool you are using so you can cycle to the very end of the tensioner's range. Also, putting the belt on to the smooth pulley last if possible is usually easier to do than on a ribbed pulley.

    I hate to tell you that electric cars are not going to be the thing in the future they're going to be the thing of the past here in America there's already been two companies EV companies and California not including Tesla but they're two car companies in California who have filed bankruptcy just a week or two ago and to mention also there are over 20 EV companies around the globe including Germany's who are closing up and file a bankruptcy also so people need to get used to gasoline always being here I mean honestly it cost an average of $20,000 to replace a battery in one Tesla so you tell me is it worth 20 grand to buy a battery for a car you might as well scrap that golf cart on wheels

    You know how to do the basic things like changing oil and mounting tires. Apply at Walmart where they have a tire and oil change department. Or one of the other chain service centers where you have benefits and a decent hourly rate. Then on the side establish your own repair business with the goal of being self employed in the future.

      Thanks for the info. Although, there are still some people who disagree with me and tell me to get an analysis/laboratory tests done on the engine oils. There are a lot of people who don't realize that these extended intervals are usually for warranty purposes and to save the Earth from polluting and from using too much oil. It's not good for an engine to keep running the same oil for that long as the lubricity of the engine oil and additives wear out over time. Other factors such as driving conditions, engine type, usage/application for intended use of the vehicle and the accumulation of water/moisture in the oil pan/sump. Especially with cars that use gasoline direct injection they are prone to fuel contamination/dilution and so the only way to get clean oil is to change the oil and filter regularly. It doesn't cost much either to change the oil a little more often than having an engine burn oil shortly after the warranty is up because of the accelerated wear on the engine and piston rings, etc.
